Reese Witherspoon pelting ice cream at Meryl Streep is everythingwww.cnn.com/2018/08/02/entertainment/reese-witherspoon-ice-cream-meryl-streep-big-little-lies/index.htmlReese Witherspoon was caught on camera preparing to throw ice cream at Meryl Streep.
But don't worry, they aren't really feuding.
The ice cream showdown is apparently for the upcoming second season of "Big Little Lies."
Streep is cast as Mary Louise Wright in the HBO drama, the mother-in-law of Nicole Kidman's character on the show.
The gig marks a rare TV role for Streep, who won an Emmy in 2004 for her work in the miniseries "Angels in America."
HBO revealed in January that Season 2 of "Big Little Lies" will pick up with Mary Louise arriving in Monterey, California, after becoming "concerned for the well-being of her grandchildren" following the death of her son, who was played by Alexander Skarsgård in the first season.
Witherspoon, Kidman, Laura Dern, Shailene Woodley and Zoë Kravitz are all reprising their roles.
Robert De Niro threw his hat into the ring for a role on the show when talking to Entertainment Tonight at an event this week. The actor said he would be interested in playing Streep's husband on the series.
"Big Little Lies" debuted on HBO in February 2017 and has won eight Emmys and four Golden Globes.A premiere date for the second season has not yet been announced.

That's a coup to get Streep for the series; can't wait. As awful as his character was, I will miss Alexander Skarsgard this season.

Wow, this season has been a big dud. I mean, the actresses are great, but the writing and the story?
I'm a fan of Meryl Streep, but I hope the finale includes someone pushing Mary Louise (Meryl's real first name, BTW) and her terrible fake teeth down the stairs just like her son.
From what I've read, there's NO chance of a third season. The actresses would never bash the show in the press, but they're all horrified at how bad it is. They're not alone!

I wonder what that Spoiler means.

I saw that interview with Shailene ^^^ What she said is what the showrunners told her she could say, and they wouldn't even provide the Kimmel show with a clip of the finale. That means the "spoiler" is not that big of a deal, especially since it's something that happens at the beginning of the episode. She also said that, {Spoiler} after that happens, they get a whole hour to get everything resolved, which says to me that it does get resolved.
I'm going to watch the finale, but I'm mildly annoyed by this whole season. It seems like such a waste of all that talent. I mean, it's been satisfying to see Renata rant about her situation and she had one of the best lines of the series in, [to Gordon] "I used to like to sit on your face too. You think that will happen again?" Still, all that scenery chewing seems to be at the expense of character development. Laura Dern will probably get an Emmy, so what do I know?

What they did to the original director of Season 2's (Andrea Arnold) work left a really nasty taste in my mouth. I loved the first season but not sure if I'm going to tune in for the second.

Did anyone else notice that the ice cream pelting mentioned in the first post in this thread didn't happen? It should have been in episode 5, when Madeline and her daughter encounter Mary Louise on the street. Instead, they just have words and walk away. Kind of a bummer. REALLY want ML to get her comeuppance! She's evil.

Don't be surprised when 'Big Little Lies' isn't nominated for any Emmys this yearwww.cnn.com/2019/07/15/entertainment/emmy-eligibility/Before fans prepare to hurl ice cream cones at Emmy voters, they should note that there's a reason for this.
The second season of "Big Little Lies" premiered June 9.
That's a week and some change after the Television Academy's May 31 cut-off for this year's eligible entries.

That was the end!? Any word that there is definitely not another season? Good season cliffhanger, but not good series ending. I want to see the repercussions.

Pretty sure there will be no more seasons, kiz. I was fairly satisfied with how things wrapped up, save for the cheesy wedding vow renewal. Too pat. Felt sad for Nathan that Bonnie told him she had never loved him. Why was that necessary? Needlessly cruel. He seems to have evolved from the husband and father who walked out on Maddy and seems to be a good dad to his younger daughter and husband to Bonnie. Don't care about Bonnie's mom or dad. I gasped when Celeste revealed in court how Perry's brother Raymond died. I wanted to see more fireworks in court. Also, I hope Celeste cleared it with Jane beforehand that she was identifying her as Perry's rape victim in court. Yikes! Gordon deserved that baseball bat upside his head. Talk about clueless. I enjoyed the season. Not as good as the first but still good.

Bonnie roaming around mindlessly the whole season>her mother's visions>implying she was going to drown but didn't>her mother's stroke>dumping her husband. That was probably the worst for me.
They should have brought back coffee shop Tom for Jane if they were going to give her a love interest.
Renata is played perfectly but only provided comic relief that didn't add to the narrative. Her yelling got tiresome.
Celeste and Mary Louise were great. But important revelations in the courtroom were so rushed.
Although Ed and Nathan feud could be funny, it became silly.
Madeline and Jane were practically attached at the hip in season 1. What happened to that relationship?
I was always waiting for something to happen. Some sort of payoff. It practically ended the same way season 1 did. It wasn't bad by any means, but season 1 was built on an intriguing dark mystery and this felt like a completely different show.
