Um....sort of, but not really. That's a slightly accurate impression. It IS dark. A lot of social commentary about feminism, #MeToo, Fat Acceptance and many other social issues. Not man-hating - at least not ALL men. Easier for you to just watch an episode or two than for anyone to try to explain it. It's more complex than a simple explanation could give. Not for everyone, but I thought it was pretty good.
My only real issue was the lead actress. I just didn't find her or the character likeable. Maybe the character is just kind of a self-involved a-hole, but I also didn't think the actress was up to the task. I would have preferred someone like Brooke Elliott from Drop Dead Diva, although maybe she's not large enough for the role. She is a terrific actress though and IMO would have been better as Plum than the actress they cast.
