I think they should have had a preheat with all, eliminated either Nickey or Alex, and then the main challenge. It’s dragged out a bit now but I guess this way they get another episode out of it.
I hope Steven wins. ❤️

A well deserved winner. Their cake was stunning and looked like stained glass. The other two, not so much. And is it me or {Spoiler} Nikki never made a stacked cake.... there were a lot of things she never made, that I wonder just what does she bake? Her cake was really sad looking. I kept thinking how would Alex have done?

Agreed, the winner's cake was beautiful. Not surprised they won. The other two cakes weren't very stained glass-looking. I wish Alex could have made it to the finale, too. And Nancy can get stuffed with the "Your roses look too Christmas-y!" Red roses can go on a wedding cake, woman.

Definitely a case of "it's not a looker, but it tastes divine!"

A well-deserved win indeed. I enjoyed everyone's cakes for different reasons, and overall it was a great end to an great season. Ugh, I rhymed!

I think so too. Their strength have always been with their flavors, and the judges gave them plenty of praise on that because they loved how their layers tasted. That person's skills grew over the course of the competition and they should be proud of the work they did. Design-wise I preferred Robert's cake to Stevens but have no issue over who won. Overall, a much better finale than last year's Holiday Baking show.

I think Alex would have knocked it out of the park. But congrats to the winner! They earned first place.

The brown lines were thick and looked more like branches.

They were meant to look like branches. I actually really liked Robert’s cake - I thought it was beautiful. His flavours were not to my taste. Steven’s cake was very pretty (rather art deco) and it sounded yummy. Nickey’s cake looked a mess decoration-wise - didn’t like her lines, the spray-type colours or her dragonflies - but her flavours did sound very good. Like how she had three different flavoured layers. . I think she said she mostly does plated desserts but I’m surprised she never made a three tier cake at least in culinary school. Happy with the winner.

A surprisingly good show on FN now is 24 in 24: Last Chef Standing. The premise is 24 chefs have to go through a bunch of culinary challenges over a 24 hour period. There's really good (and in some cases well-known) chef's participating, the food is awesome, and Michael Symon (who is hosting) is a gem.

Wonderful start to the Summer BC. I love the new advantage the winner has. Great idea. For sure the right person went home.

I agree with who went home. While it seemed like it tasted good I don't think there was any alcohol in it, plus it looked...like that. :/
