Ricky fascinates me with his stupidity. Like all that money he spent going over there for someone he's never even really spoken to and he has two daughters that he wants to be a "role model" for? Not to mention all the money he's given Melissa already...... surely there's a dating website for latin women in his area? His money would have been better spent in therapy figuring out what his part was in two failing marriages and how to be better in future relationships so that doesn't happen again and he has a chance at lasting love. He seems so needy.

He seems so needy. He's a fool sitting there waiting and waiting for someone who is already, what, two hours late with no explanation? Even if she does eventually show up, what kind of person would do that? Certainly not someone who has good relationship potential.
It looks like Karine is pregnant, so what is Paul going to do? He's not going to trust it's his.
I'm sort of hooked on this show now, although I do think I could pry myself away. These people (the Americans) are all so pathetically desperate that it's downright unbelievable to me what they put themselves through. With the possible exception of John (Jon?) in England and maybe Jess (not too sure about him), the rest of them are all obviously gold-diggers.

Well Melissa exists, however there is much to be suspect about. I think she might be a teenager.
Hazel is so dead in the eyes, still I don't think Tariq is a bad guy. She could do worse. At least she was being honest.
Angela, embarrassing the way she was grabbing at Michael. And she needs to tone it down. this is going to get old real fast.

Angela is really aggressive, she needs to calm her hormones down. lol Exactly. It was too too much and wears thin. Nothing wrong with being full of life, but you have to know when to tone it down.

"Aggressive" is putting it nicely. She's obnoxious, and a smorgasbord of psychological problems including extreme desperation. She doesn't even see that Michael is dissing her about her age and size. Can't wait to see her meet his mother. Speaking of desperation -- Ricky! Why? He's a sweet, thoughtful guy. I can't imagine why he's resorting to meeting women this way. I felt sorry for him when he said the dinner went well. She clearly had no real interest in him, not to mention being three hours late with some lame excuse that he accepted.
Didn't like the end when Rachel let Jon go and calm down crying Lucy. The baby is old enough to be fearful of someone she doesn't know holding her after a really rough day. Rachel should have been the one to get out of bed and take care of her daughter, and I don't know why they didn't set up the crib in the same room as they're in, anyway.

Hmm, I don't see Ricky or any of these doofuses (doofi?) as sweet. They are ALL, and that includes Ricky, thinking with their johnsons. And Ricky and Tarik don't get my pity especially since both of them have young children. Ricky has had 2 marriages and he is only 34 years old. He is still not technically divorced and he is trolling Colombian Cupid or whatever internet dating site looking for a Latina stepmom. And he thinks Melissa is the best choice? Does she with her plastic boobs and everything else look like she might be remotely interested in taking on a 13 y.o., a toddler and Ricky? And if she is a nurse, I will eat my hat! All she was interested is the green U.S. dollars Ricky was sending her. He would have saved a lot of time, aggravation and money just spending some time with a lady of the night if he is that desperate for SEX! Tarik is another one who I just want to throw things at....he has a SPECIAL NEEDS CHILD, for goodness sake. AND he has only been chatting up Hazel for a few weeks. A few weeks! And on a purely shallow note...on this and other forums people have said that men like Ricky and Tarik troll these internet sites looking for Asian or Hispanic women from developing countries b/c they are poor and desperate and b/c they know that these women otherwise would be out of their league and that American women would not give them the time of day. Or at least American women that live up to their ideal of what a beautiful women is. For one thing none of these foreign women and that includes Anfisa, Annie, Paola, Karine, and now Hazel and Melissa, are what I'd call raving beauties. Some of them might be sexpots in the mens' eyes b/c of the fake boobs, but other than that I don't see beauty at all. Ricky and Tarik are decent lookin men. They are not ugly, imo. I'm sure they could get an attractive women here in the U.S. if they worked on themselves a bit and were not so shallow. Angela is a train wreck. She was mauling Michael. I had maybe an ounce of pity for him but then I remembered all of these folks are in it for the green card and are so not right reasons. Can you even imagine what the villagers in his town thought of this loud, aggressive woman who was inappropriately dressed? She was so ready for a night of nooky but did she even shower? Those pit stains they showed...ewww! And thank you, TLC and Angela, but I could do without the morning after recap of their lovemaking. *shudders just thinking about it.* I agree that Rachel should not have let Lucy sleep in another room. She should have stayed in the same room as Rachel and John. Well, I would not have even brought Lucy but then again, I'd never be that desperate to have to resort to importing a love interest, either. I have no issues with folks who meet a person from other countries when it happens organically but not those who are participants on this show.

I agree with you ECM! First off, Ricky is Creepy now that I've seen Melissa. She has to be in College or....High School? Talking of homework and having braces. No.No. NO.
And way too many armpits this episode. When you go to another country I guess it is fitting to show your bra and/or wear a sleeveless t-shirt? I mean, thanks for dressing up to meet the loves of your lives!
And really Tariq? You knew there would be one bed. It grossed me out when he said he wouldn't touch her only if she kissed him. I highly doubt his hands kept to himself if he is saying that. Poor Hazel, trading her life/body for her son to have a better life in America. She is very beautiful but so very sad.
I tweeted last night that Angela is what I think Honey Boo-Boo will be like when she grows up. That's my favorite story line. When she dressed him in all that Trump stuff? And him trying to explain what a 'bobble head doll was'. At least her outfit was a little more appropriate to visit his mother. I hope she brings 'The Lord's Prayer purse' she so kindly bought for her new Mother-in-Law.
And Arson? 'I never hurt women...or animals' Red. Flag!!!!!

Just my opinion....One thing to remember is that these couples have likely been cyber-sexting in their interactions online and via telephone. The expectation for immediate sexual physical contact can be explained by previous conversations focusing on sex.

I think Tarik just wanted a kiss at the airport, but he was 'too chubby' when she saw him in person. I don't feel bad for hazel, she seems stuck up and is definitely a gold digger.

All those women are gold diggers, and the men are dumber than dirt if they don't see that. They'll get what they deserve, though because all they care about is looks. Tarik and Ricky couldn't possibly think that those women are good role models and stepmothers for their daughters, so shame on them for not even considering that huge factor. Michael only wants a green card, and Angela is too desperate and foolish to see that. Except for Rachel and Jon, this show is all about trading sex for money. What does Paul do for a living that he can take three months off to stay in Brazil?

Paul works in IT. He probably obtained a leave of absence, or assumed he can grab another IT job.

Especially Ricky, though I do think if Tariq helps Hazel get her son and everything she wants follows through, I think she might not be too bad. Melissa, no way at all. Seriously, you think she is stepmother material? Speaking of Melissa, I was looking at a picture of her and I really think she is a guy. She has a thick neck and that blouse is covering an Adam's apple.

I think that is why Hazel is too shy to speak on the phone...deeper voice. But as what 'M Butterfly' taught us, it doesn't really matter. Yeah, that was cruel to have him wait like that. I wonder how much money he has sent to her. LOVED M Butterfly!!!! Interesting comparison, beerbelly!

Thanks! M Butterfly really speaks to how white men fetishize Asian woman. I see this in this show.

I see problems on both sides with Darcy and Jesse. He tends to be controlling; she very insecure who snaps at him with little provocation.
I can't see Angela and Michael ever becoming a couple. Not only is there the age difference between them, but because of her other-the-top personality and the cultural differences. Right from the get-go, Michael seemed disenchanted with her.
It appears Paul is beginning to see just how childish Karine is. While she may physically be able to have a child, she is nowhere near mature enough to mother that child, nor take care of a household. She's a kid herself.
So far, it seems like Ricky is being played for a fool for Melissa. Her lateness and evasiveness should be a real turnoff for him. Who would treat someone like that who traveled so far to see her if she was legit?
I hope Tarik can see that Hazel is only interested in him in order to get out of the squalor she lives in. Her family home appears to be one tiny room on a third floor in a slum area (which are very common in the Philippines). A friend of mine who married a woman from the Philippines (who was actually a physician) gave very vivid descriptions of living conditions there, including people living among tombstones in cemeteries.
Hope that Rachel and Jon make it. He seems like a really nice guy, unless we're about to learn more about him.
I'm really enjoying this season, now that we're getting more familiar with the characters.

Darcy and Jesse are a disaster, arguing in every scene of the episode. I don't understand this relationship at all. They bring out the worst in each other, so apparently they're both gluttons for punishment instead of calling it quits and going their separate ways. Why do they even want to stay together when all they do is blame and complain about each other? Jesse's comment to Darcie after one of their big fights that their kind of "love" happens only once in a lifetime was ludicrous in light of the fact that they're constantly fighting and stomping out. They've spent enough time together to know they don't get along. Who wants to spend their life like that?
Angela needs to go home and find a man her own age of a similar culture. I had a friend who married a Nigerian man and divorced him before a year was up because he demanded she obey him. Not saying every Nigerian man is like that, but it does seem to be part of the culture.
I think I fell asleep for a little while (I wish the show was only one hour and focused on only three or at most four couples) ... Did Melissa ever show up for sightseeing with Ricky the day after their dinner date?

They seem to be the one couple that just like each other.... no escape from poverty, no catfishing, no big age difference..... Karine really is a piece of work. She seemed nicer last season. This season she looks puffy and just disheveled. I wonder if she isn't pregnant if she is on drugs.

This season she looks puffy and just disheveled. I wonder if she isn't pregnant if she is on drugs. There has been a lot of speculation on another forum I frequent that Karine really is pregnant and she somehow faked the pregnancy test. I guess that is easily done b/c Paul never watched her take the test. She may have just poured water on the stick or something. She has been pushing for a quick wedding within 30 days and if she is indeed pregnant with another man's child, will just pass the baby off as a preemie. I really hope this is not the case but honestly she looks just awful. Her skin is a mess and she is just disheveled and looks nothing like she did last year. I hope Paul does not go through with the wedding. I'm not a fan of his but he doesn't deserve to be saddled with a child who isn't his nor a wife who is just a child herself. What is it with the gazillion stuffed animals? She does not even be capable or aware of basic housekeeping. No way is she ready for a child or marriage, imo.

If Michael wants to be the 'man' in the relationship, why was he flat ironing Angela's hair? No offense to Angela, but maybe she could try to put in an effort to dress more appropriately. Nothing wrong with a tank or t-shirt if you're at the gym, beach or pool, but make an effort lady!
I can't believe (yes, I can) that Ricky let that second girl sleep over without telling her she was not the reason for him being in Columbia. Eek.
I'm not a fan of Darcy's, but I see Jesse as more and more controlling. Why he chose someone like Darcy (strong willed, business minded) to date is beyond me. Every time Darcy said 'your stepkids' or 'our little family' I cringed.
Rachel and Jon - I really like these two so far and I've read spoilers, so hard to comment.
Don't care for Hazel, though Tariq's brother went a bit overboard with the questioning. Maybe if his approach had been a bit softer...I don't know.
Paul and Karine - Karine was so pretty the first season she was on this franchise. Now, she looks disheveled.
Not sure if I am forgetting anyone...too many couples to follow. Looking forward to reading everyone else's comments.

It looks like Jesse and Darcey might be breaking up on the next episode. I hope so;they are toxic to one another. Why are they even still together when they can't go even a day without bitterly fighting over something stupid?
I wish Tarik would make some effort not to look like such a slob. I know he's in a hot climate with poor people, but he should at least look clean and neat, and get rid of that stupid cap that doesn't even fit on his head right.
Gee, Ricky's determination to act like a "gentleman" sure flew out the window fast when the new woman showed up. Looks like he's about to tell her the truth about why he flew there, so we'll see what happens.
