John Wick is an acquired taste. The sheer ridiculousness of it is why I love it. My hubby loves the action and could care less about making it logical. He enjoys the way they make violence laughable if that makes any sense. And Keanu and I have a long standing relationship since I was a teenager when Point Break came out. Sadly it's only one sided lol. I can definitely see that, Realitychick There was soooooooo much incredible ACTION. KR must have been EXHAUSTED every day leaving the set.

We watched bonus/behind-the-scenes footage for the first movie and he does a lot of his stunts himself. They all spoke so highly of him. The same day that hubby and I watched the second movie, I also watched a Netflix movie where he played "Keanu Reeves". But he was a total jerk in the characterization of himself. It was pretty funny, because I don't think he's like that IRL. I imagine playing that over-the-top part was very fun. When I go look at the name of that movie I'll add it. I see a pattern with myself, watch a RomCom after watching a kill-them-all movie! Eta: Always Be My Maybe is the movie.

Back Roads - After his mother (Juliette Lewis) is imprisoned for killing his abusive father Alex Pettyfer is left to care for his three younger sisters in rural Pennsylvania. This movie was uncomfortable and heartbreaking. Very sad. Happy Death Day 2U - The previews to this sequel truly ruined any chance of me going to watch in the theater. It made it seem repetitive and awful. It was anything but. Not sure how they managed to make it better and smarter! Miss Bala - Gina Rodriguez plays Gloria who seeks help from the police when cartel hit men kidnap her friend from a nightclub in Mexico. I liked it better than I thought I would. Nothing we haven't seen many times before.

A cure for wellness. I liked the movie till about the last 20 minutes or so, and then it took a dumb turn.

They make so many of these x men movies. Don't people get tired of them -Dark Phoenix Bound To Lose $100M + After Worst Domestic Opening In X-Men Series Ohhhhhhh I read the reviews and they were all really bad. How disappointing as it appeared it had a great cast. Reports indicate this movie REALLY got screwed over by the Disney takeover of Fox. This started out as a two part movie, and then was cut down to a 2 hour 20 minute movie. Then Disney was put in charge and demanded it be less than 2 hours. In addition to that they decided the original ending was too close to Capt Marvel and made them change it. It’s a shame because Simon Kinberg has such a great passion for the Xmen movies and he more than anyone else deserved to direct the film he wanted to make.

Maybe they should quit making all those doctor shows and endless, endless, endless, Law & Order shows. What about romances, or military shows, or the endless dog films. OMG quit making all those horror films. Give us a break there are many, many, many films being produced in all genres and all flavors. I've mentioned before about being tired of those types of shows/movies as well. I would also add tattoo shows, madea movies, shows based on height, fast and furious movies, etc.

I watched The Incredibles 2 last night. I enjoyed it, but it just didn't compare to the first one. This happens a lot with sequels. I think it's because the first was so original & new & different from other movies. Trying to recreate that feeling is very difficult. They're dealing with characters, situations, setups, and the feel that were already established. It was a good movie though & kept my interest. However, I saw it coming who the villain was, from early on. I did like how the kids were more an active part of the storylines.

I turned off a couple of movies lately. Truth or dare(2018) was a dumb horror movie where they would each make a ridiculous facial expression when it was time to ask the truth or dare. Happy death day gave me a headache. It just kept repeating scenes over and over for a different outcome and felt more like a comedy.

I tried to watch The Bad Batch last night. Cannibals, Jason Momoa, Keanu Reeves, Jim Carrey - sounded good to me! After a good start, this movie dragged on for two long, dull hours. I always say I'll watch Momoa in anything, but this was painful.

Making a concerted effort to watch everything in my DVR queue when there's nothing I'm watching "live." Last night, we watched "Hidden Figures."
Excellent movie. I was in junior high and high school during the early space program era. It's hard to believe looking back that life challenges were still so unequal then . . . but they were.

Knocked two more movies out of the DVR queue last night. Ted and Ted 2. We have not laughed that hard in a long time.
I really loved that Michael Dorn had a role early in the second movie. Later, he and his partner went to ComicCon, and Michael Dorn was dressed as Worf. LOL.

2 films on Netflix last night. Wine Country which was directed by Amy Poehler and starred Poehler, Rachel Dratch, Tina Fey, Maya Rudolph which was about Rachel Dratch's character turning 50 and Amy's character planned a trip to the Wine Country in CA to celebrate with longtime friends. I enjoyed it but Mr. ECM promptly fell asleep. Next up was 5 Flights Up with Morgan Freeman, Diane Keaton and Cynthia Nixon (perfect as Diane's niece and real estate broker). This was a very sweet film. Morgan and Diane play a long-married couple who have lived in their 5 flight Brooklyn walk-up apartment for 40 years. Real estate prices have skyrocketed and Nixon convinces the couple to sell while the market is so hot. She played the pushy realtor to perfection. It was a 2014 film but I don't remember it coming out in the theaters and I don't think it was a Netflix original but I enjoyed it a lot.

Went to see John Wick 3 last night and was not disappointed. I've seen the other films so I knew what I was in for violence-wise, and I've always liked the fact that the actors do their own stunts in this franchise (Halle Berry said she broke 3 ribs during the making of the movie). I loved the fact that John Wick, Sofia, and Zero (The Adjudicator's lead henchman) are all played by actors in their 50s and they look (and fight) marvelously. Loved the addition of Halle Berry as Sofia, Kate Dillion as The Adjudicator, and the Chairman from Iron Chef America as Zero. I've always loved the rules and world-building of the assassin world that was so prevalent in the first two films and in this one we get to see that world operating in another continent. Really glad a Part 4 has already been greenlit by the studio as it's left on a cliffhanger and I really enjoy this world.
