Hometown - a little budget for a little house! I'm glad she picked the one on the pond, I would have too. The bright blue and white suited the exterior, and I'm glad they could repurpose some things to save money. The laminate counters looked nice (everything doesn't have to be marble and granite!) but I wasn't in love with the cabinet color nor of the stenciling they did on the wood. I think it looked nice as is.
I tried watching Restored by the Fords...sigh. Bright glossy white all over everything in the Craftsman house, with an odd touch of teal on the kitchen entrance trim. It looked out of place. The kitchen itself was okay, the rest of the house didn't wow me. The second episode had glossy white walls once again, and I turned the channel before the end reveal. I'm just not a fan of white walls, and that seems to be all she does - black and white. Zzz.

I was excited to see another Windy City Rehab episode but to my horror, it was those horrible Fords instead! I peaced out the minute I saw "Craftsman" and "The Fords" written in the same sentence because I knew they would find a way to ruin it.

11 pm? Good grief, why do they get stuck airing so late and utter crap like the Fords gets a better time slot?
Eh, either way, I'll watch On Demand the next day.

Lots of new Flip or Flops last night. Nashville's house was a hot mess - literally, a previous fire caused them to have to gut the entire thing. Any decent profit flew out the window on this one. Loved the colors and finishes inside, but they used that horrible bright blue paint on the exterior that they must have gotten off the "oops rack" at Lowe's. The first Vegas house started out okay - their take on mid-century modern - but after staging, there were just too many colors and it looked too cluttery to me. They do this a lot. The second house - what in the world? It was basically a glorified shed that they added on to, so why not make it a three bedroom instead of a two bed with weird little unusable loft spaces? Anyone trying to sleep up there or sit in those loft chairs would knock themselves out on the ceiling. And the purple doors were just obnoxious.

Ugh! Congratulations, I guess? Hubs and I were just watching Wheeler Dealers over coffee this morning and I dislike Ant solely for the fact that he replaced my beloved gray-haired mechanic Edd China on this show. I Googled Ant. He divorced his wife in 2017 and married Christina in 2018. He is 40 and she is 35. Looks like this is his 1st child and the baby is due in September. As much as I do not like Christina, I hope all goes well for them.

I wonder where his children and ex-wife live?

Home Town season 3, episode 10 - Small Budget, Big Style - March 18, 2019
LUV, LUV, LUV the piece of property this house was built on it was absolutely gorgeous, especially that shot at the end of the episode where there was mist coming off the pond. Sigh! Big Love!
A 2 bedroom, 1 bath less then 800 sq ft home for $12,500.
The buyer had a budget of $75,000.
What's left after buying the house? $62,500. If that as closing costs are never discussed.
The house is rotting in places. Needs new wiring, new plumbing, new walls, new floors, what about the roof, AC, Heat? At least half your budget is gone on all that.
I liked what they did with the house especially the front porch. Luv'ed the firepit, and two swing chairs.
I was surprised how good the bath shower insert looked.
I did like what Erin and Ben did in the house. Olive green cabinets? Erin we know you like green but there has been too much green in the last couple of episodes. While I liked that they faced the kitchen pennisula in wood, the stenciling did not enhance the look. I think if they had only done half as much stenciling it would have been OK. It really didn't need any stenciling. Overall I liked the house but I liked the property much, much, much more.
I have noticed that this show does provide houses to woman, young ones, old ones and that it is OK to have your own home and you don't need a husband or family to be there. I really like that about this show.

One of a Kind - Season 1 - Episode 1 - Love Letter Walls - March 19, 2019
per HGTV:
I watched the premiere and it was very enjoyable to see more of a design show vs a renovation show as at times the renovation can be tailored to the mass public vs a home owner wanting to show more personality in their home.
Actually liked all the design choices. I don't know though if the family would be that comfortable to have their college love notes wallpapered on the walls.

Flip or Flop Nashville - season 2, episode 12 - There's No Crying in House Flipping - March 21, 2019
It was a nice change of pace to see how horrible wrong a flip can go when you open up a house. However, even with them basically gutting the entire house, having only a shell, and it looked as if they kept the roof, and they had 1850 sq ft to play with I was not that impressed with the floor plan. I didn't mind the blue as we have been told endlessly from other HGTV shows that East Nashville is funky and lots of houses have strong colors.

Flip or Flop Vegas season 3, episode 1 - Design Nightmare - March 21, 2019
In one sense I liked what they did with the space and outside house colors. I liked the kitchen, office and other areas. What bothered me was the tile. At first I was concerned about all the varieties she bought. When I saw the two main bathroom were a nuetral grey tile for the floor, the one wall the patterned blue I thought OK. I was concerned when they used a blue subway tile for the shower and a white square but really when you look at it overall that was a very nice bathroom. They used a very pale tile with a small bit of pattern for another bathroom which I was thinking how does this relate to the kitchen back splash or the blue bathroom or the color story in the house, but again it looked OK. What shocked was the black and red tile on the fireplace. How the heck does that relate to anything in the house. If it the fireplace tile had grey or blue it would have made sense but it does not. Then there was this theme of cage like light fixtures. The box in the dining room and the cones in the office and living room. OK it is kinda industrial but I thought this was supposed to be mid century modern? Then there were the brass swirls in the game room and the 5 brass pendants over the wet bar. When they had some long shots and you could see the kitchen, dining room, office and den it was TOO MUCH. AND you could see the kitchen back splash and the fireplace tile, it didn't make any sense.

Flip or Flop Vegas - Season 2 • Episode 11 • Glorified Shed Gets Modern Cottage Makeover - March 21, 2019
What is really weird is the numbering of this episode as it aired last night and was not a season two episode.
Looked tons better than the original house. Amazing value for what they spent. Initially looked good, and I don't mind a theme color but I think a purple accent wall and lots of white bedding with a touch of purple would have been better. Not EVERY door had to be painted purple of both sides. Maybe in the bedrooms on the inside a nice white or very, very toned down purple. The back splash and bathroom shower with the purple 3D tile and glam tile turned out well but didn't the subway tile look grey later in the episode and that that dull purple. Just saying. Was it my TV or did they change the color? While I liked the second black and white bathroom, I do agree with the one agent that it could be a bit dizzy and if the fancy tile around the mirror was not there it would have been a great bathroom design wise. I do understand this is Vegas and they want the house to have a punch of color to reflect the Big Vegas Style but there is time and place. At least the sinks were white and the refrigerator was not purple.
As a funked out rental the over the top style will make it a very rentable property.

Thanks for the link the photos were great. All the bathrooms looked good, the least nice was the neutral one but the others were good. I liked the light fixtures in the bedrooms and in the game room. The bedroom lights were some what mid century modern and the one master bedroom chandelier was Vegas Glam but not to over the top. They seriously need to get rid of those brass pendants over the wet bar and those horrid industrial cages over the kitchen island, in the family room, the office and dining room. The house will sell after that. The kitchen has really good bones as do the rest of the rooms. Is the turquoise and orange color palette a bit strong? Yeah. But it is manageable. I do hate those pinched comforters they use on the beds.

This isn't about an HGTV show. It's just a funny story that I had to tell somewhere, and this seemed like the right place as I think you'll all understand in a minute. I think I may be spending entirely too much time in FORT and especially in this thread. I just tried to swipe type "Barbara" in the contacts list on my phone, and my phone interpreted it as " Bearcata ." LOL

Home Town- I liked all but the leaving of the brick floors. Those would be a pain to clean.

I liked the brick floors on Hometown, but there were a lot of them. It probably would have been a budget breaker to tear all that up. I laughed that this couple wanted to "downsize" into a 3000 sq. ft. house. The white kitchen with the blue island was pretty (would have preferred a touch of color on the backsplash), and the cabana out back was nice. I'm glad they could repurpose all that cedar from the inside, it went from dark and creepy to useful. I don't remember seeing the bathrooms, did they not show them?

They didn't show bedrooms nor bathrooms. So I am assuming they did nothing to them. I don't call that downsizing but I guess the house they moved out of was much bigger.

Was the second Destroyed by the Fords worth watching? I caught bits of the first episode, and it was all the usual black and white. At least they didn't paint over any of the woodwork in that old Victorian, my head would have exploded.

At least they didn't paint over any of the woodwork in that old Victorian, my head would have exploded. The victorian wasn't bad. That painted settee was terrible. I was glad they didn't paint the woodwork either and the white paint made it look a lot lighter and not so much like a dungeon. The second one was atrocious. What a hacked up job they did on that one. I hated the half bath. The kitchen if you could call it that was terrible.

Hometown: I thought that the couple would go for the first, smaller house. I'm wondering how big their Texas house was that a 3,000 sq ft home was "downsizing."
With that said, I loved what they did with the house! They took a dark and dank kitchen and living room and made it light and airy and where the brick floors looked perfect instead of heavy. Loved the blue island in the kitchen and the sideboard Ben made out of the shutters. The cabana in the backyard was cool and perfect for relaxing. Overall, another job nicely done.

Home Town season 3, episode 11 - Southern Coastal Style - March 25, 2019
I did like what they did in the kitchen/dining/living area, not sure if it really was that coastal, just add some blue and white curtains and voila "coastal". I did like the blue grey island. I was surprised they painted the window shutters out front in a blue grey which looked black to me and really I didn't see a difference between the before and after. Liked the pavilion. What is that the areas were so big that I was not really impressed with the changes? Maybe the several last episodes where about small 800 sq ft homes and the color and finishes were much more impactful in the smaller space.

One of a Kind season 1, episode 2 - The Attic Surprise - March 25, 2019
I do like that this designer is trying to personalize the families space. Is what she does to my taste? Not always, but the family is her client. Th color green Grace chose is not to my taste but she made a HUGE impact on the curb appeal of the house and since it was a Victorian it could take the color and still look good. I did like the changes she made in the kitchen making the area more functional for the entire family. I did like the kitchen. It was a fun color. What I didn't like was taping pictures to the back splash area and putting an acrylic panel over it. I understand the concept but it looked cheap.
I am glad Grace was able to make the downstairs work better for the family and find additional space for the daughter. I do think the editing and storyline were misleading as you can see in the attic space, which was huge, it looked as if there is an actual bedroom and that the central area was a play space for the daughter and that was not her bedroom.

Flip or Flop Vegas season 3, episode 3 - May I Have More Storage? - March 28, 2019
I thought they did a good job with this condo. I didn't mind the grey and green color palette. It looked good in the kitchen. The green open shelving seemed a tad off, I think some closed cabinets would be a good idea as do you really want your stored stuff on display? I did think the shelving was too low as you cannot sit back and relax against the wall with out banging your head on the shelves, that was NOT a good design choice. Are those green open shelves really usable and practical? Getting rid of the over head cabinets over the pennisula was a good idea as was making it longer, that was a good idea. I LUV'ed the fireplace, the tile was fabulous as were the shelving units. HATED the gold mirror hiding the fireplace. The fireplace was a huge feature why cover it up. One point, where do you hang the TV? It would be a shame to mess up the tile on the fireplace. The bedroom was OK, the bed headboard was not substantial enough to balance the strong design style in the condo and it seemed off. Liked the closet. Liked the bathroom. I thought the green and grey tile worked well, as well as the gold fixtures. HOWEVER, anyone notice the scallops on the floor tile were pointed in the opposite direction Aubrey wanted, which kinda messed with the direction of the tile in the backsplash. The shower stall looked great.
Major Pet Peeve. While individually I liked the gold light fixtures, there were too many in that small space especially in the kitchen and entry hall and living area. With all the can lights in the kitchen you don't need pendant lighting or a light over the dining table. In a condo that was around 700 sq ft, in the entry way, kitchen, dining, living area there was a light fixture in the entry way, in the living room, two big pendants over the peninsula, and a huge fixture over the dining table. Do you really need 5 lights handing from the ceiling in that small space.

Ha, I thought all the same things about that condo on Flip or Flop last night. How could you sit under that open shelving/cubbies and not knock your head on them? Some closed cabinets higher up or a few open shelves would have been just fine. The grey/green/gold was nice, but she went overboard with the scalloped tile in the bathroom. Too much is never enough with Aubrey, though. Too many light fixtures, and that horrid mirror on the fireplace needed to go away. I did love the kitchen backsplash tile. I'm glad she didn't wallpaper the ceiling in that bedroom, too. One wall was plenty.
