Damn, that's terrible; I just go to watch.hgtv.com and put in my provider and it lets me watch for free. It's how I've been watching old Property Brothers and HHI episodes. I can't believe that your cable provider makes you pay for On Demand episodes.

Restored by the Fords- I would have asked for my money back on this remodel. It was atrocious. Absolutely the worst design job I have ever seen.

I gave up on Restored by the Fords. Crap design, everything is always black and white, same garbage every week. Zzz. Plus, she annoys the tar out of me. But finally, we have some new Good Bones episodes! The house turned out very pretty - soft blues and grays, white kitchen with a blue island, and I loved that green fireplace tile and beautiful staircase they restored. Liked the distressed tile on the bathroom floor, too. And they always do a good job highlighting details on the exterior with color. I was rolling when they did the initial walk through - who glued all those rocks everywhere in the house? The bathroom was covered in rocks, there were rocks glued on top of the counter as some weird "backsplash," rocks glued to the kitchen cabinets, rocks glued to the retaining wall outside...damn.

Good Bones was good last night. The outside was really pretty. I am glad Mina did the fireplace the way she did. I liked the look. Also glad they kept all the wood the way it was. It was a pretty house inside. Karen is such a riot. She seems to be a very happy person. Her laugh is so funny.

Good Bones: After the horrible Fords I'm just glad to see the ladies back! The house last night was roomy and full of old details. While they were not able to save the hutch in the dining room with the water damage they were able to to save those beautiful stairs and fireplace, and the area where the hutch was became a bar hidden by a bookcase. I really loved the living room with the brown antique leather couch and color pallet of blues and grays. I also liked how they reconfigured the second floor's bedrooms and master suite and created a separate living space on the top floor. The couple who viewed the house last night loved it, but decided that their money would be better spent on a blowout wedding and awesome honeymoon in Italy. Fortunately for Mina and Karen another family swooped in and bought the house for asking.
Apparently this was the house where Mina gave birth halfway through the renovation. Little Jake is so cute! They also probably all gotten a raise because besides Mina, her brother, and mom there's also another sister and family friend who is a contractor getting screentime. How big is this family, lol?

Did she actually give birth at the house (which would be pretty wild, but crazy things happen sometimes), or are you saying that she gave birth during the period that they were renovating the house? I'm assuming the latter, since the former would have been a big story.

Good Bones episode (season 4, episode 1) - A Stately House on Sanders - May 14, 2019 Luv that this was a large house. I am so glad they were able to keep all that wood paneling and staircase and that no one had painted over it or destroyed it. Luv what they did to the fire place surround with the judge's paneling. Funny how Mina is doing some creative stuff. Liked the kitchen. Luv'ed the wall paper. I am not a big fan as I have had to remove that stuff and it is not fun. I really, really like the pattern and the color. It was perfect with the blue and white and grey they are using through the house. The ladies staging is always good as are their bathrooms and kitchens. I was disappointed that we never got to see the backyard and what they did with it and weather or not there was a garage or off street parking.
It was nice to see Karen and the big kid do some of the narrating. Karen has such good relationships with the younger guys.
PS: I was looking at homes in the Bate Hendricks area of Indianapolis on Realtor and noted that many homes in that area do have very colorful siding and that many of the flipped homes do have features that Karen and Mina use. The big difference for me with Karen and Mina and other flippers is the quality of their work, their kitchen and bathroom layouts and designs, they way they try to open spaces, the quality of their finishes, absolutely their staging and how they finish the decks outside and their landscaping. One listing had a three car garage and the gravel and paver path from the house to the garage did not go the garage door but next to it and that decision left me scratching my head.

Boise Boys (season 2, episode 4) - The Mural House - May 15, 2019 I always like how the boys bring wood touches to a home, they do mid century modern very well. I also like how they stage the homes. Yes, the murals were a bit much and very specific. I would have preferred a landscape of the hills, city scape and trees line not giant cartoon figures. The house was a bit of a mess inside with the flow and they did the best they could to fix that. I was surprised that they kept all the fences and just added ceder siding. The overhead shot just made the lot layout look wonky.

I was watching House Hunters Renovation this Saturday and the couple did the fireplace in the scallop/umbrella/scale looking tile that is really popular now. It was in a bright green and a larger size and I didn't think it would look that good but with a dark grout it was amazing on the fireplace.

Good Bones - another poor house that was too far gone to save, what a shame. But they rebuilt in the same style, and it turned out great (I do wish they'd get more profit out of these things, they do such good work!). I'm glad they explained about the two entry doors, because I thought it was weird until they said that was how it used to be done. Kitchens and baths were spot on as usual. Maybe a touch too many colors in staging, but it wasn't Aubrey-over-the-top. I already went to their website to copy down two of the colors they used.

It's crazy how little profit they make but I guess the show itself is providing them both with a nice little income stream. What I really cannot wrap my head around is how cheaply they purchase these homes. They paid $4,000 for this last one. How is that even possible? I mean, isn't the land worth much more than that?

It's the city selling it hoping they will renovate it. Otherwise the city has to tear it down.

Boise Boys (season 2, episode 5) - The Circle House - May 22, 2019
A mid century ranch house, built in 1964, 1600 sq ft, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms.
Luv the dark green siding on the house with the pops of black in the windows, garage doors, lights, and fencing. They even skim coated the concrete driveway and walkway making it look new. Luv'ed the front door. I must say the color palette of dark green, black, white, yellow and wood tones works. I don't even like green and I like the house, kitchen, and deck. Notice the main light fixtures are all globes. Luv'ed the dining room light and the breezeway block feature wall was absolutely fabulous.
I do wonder however, in the final costs they never mention closing costs. I do hope they made some profit. They bought the house at $190,000. Budgeted $70,000 for the renovation ended up spending $80,000. Sold the house for $300,000 for a profit of $30,000 in a 4 to 6 week time period.

When will Luke move on from Mid-Century - NEVER.
I actually hate this style (I grew up with it and have NO nostalgia for it) and wish they would redo more of the cottage styles.

I'm ready for him to move on from mid century too. I'm kind of bored with these two. Christina on the Coast was a big bore too. I noticed Izzy was working with her. He worked with her and Tarek. The way she brought the penisula down so far and left no room at the end was strange.

I don't hate the mid-century style, it's not something I see a lot of around here so I don't mind it. It would be nice for them to do something different on occasion, though.
Christina on the Coast was okay, it was nice to see Izzy again. I'm glad she talked her friend into darker lower cabinets instead of all white everything, but other than that, the kitchen was nothing spectacular.

The way she brought the penisula down so far and left no room at the end was strange. There was a banquette at the end of the original kitchen, the owner/friend said it was never used and when Christina suggested they put more cabinets on the wall and move the peninsula down and put in seating on the other side the friend was OK with that. It also made more sense they use the peninsula as a buffet when they have quests over and they are on the patio.

While it was a nice kitchen, your standard two tone grey and white it was not outstanding. The friend originally had $55,000 and I think they went over that, I mean the entire first floor was done, painting, new floors, termite spraying, new cabinets, new lighting, a free pergola??? Someone got some huge discounts.

Christina on the Coast ..... I really liked her idea of the DARKER cabinets on the bottom. The homeowner wanted EVERYTHING white. That was a nice balance. Everything in the kitchen was awesome.
Its so true with these renovations/flips ...... you start out with a budget and think you can do exactly what you want within that budget and next thing you know the water heater has failed and needs replacing and then the termites.
So I think homeowner went from $55,000 to $67, 000!!!! PLUS she got the patio pergola FREE as a gift from Christina. That looked awesome.

Good Bones (season 4, episode 2) - New House, Old Spirit - May 21, 2019 A 1600 sq ft home, 3 bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms, all for $4,000. Sounds like the perfect starter home except that there is no roof in the middle of the house, the foundation is shot, and it looks as if the house may collapse in on itself. The house looks to be in the Market East District of Indianapolis. I give Karen and Mina are brave to take on the risk of purchasing this house, basically building it from scratch, and selling it a relatively small profit. Purchase Price | $4000 | Renovation Cost | $200,000 | List Price | $235,000 | Potential Profit | $31,000 | Price Sold | $232,500 | Actual Profit | $28,500 |
I am glad there were able to sell the house. Over all I liked the outside color palette of pale green and turquoise accents for the doors and flower boxes. I liked how they brought that into the house by painting the french doors a pale blue, and they also had a paint blue on the walls. The brown kitchen cabinets were an interesting departure and considering they do the double stack cabinets that much brown can be overwhelming. Luv the blue island. Their bedrooms and bathrooms are always done well. The staging was fabulous. It was very nice to see the ladies go back to their roots were every house was a total tear down and full of poop and urine and dead animal bodies. Watching Karen talk to the house's soul was priceless.

Cute little duplex on Good Bones last night. I'm not usually a big pink fan but it looked nice on the exterior. They've been doing homes in areas that aren't their usual - I wonder if the inventory has run out in their favorite spots?
