The Brady Bunch house is completed. A special to air sometime this Fall. HGTV owns the home. Have a look around.

The relocation specialist on tonight's House Hunter's International is a former Bachelor, Arie Luyendyk. The couple is moving to Amsterdam. I saw it last night. A Texas couple who were both accountants relocated and the husband was the one who hired the relocation specialist. Arie is a realtor in Phoenix but apparently he recently signed up with this relocation company. It was right up his alley b/c Arie was born in The Netherlands and is fluent. The wife's reaction upon seeing Arie was so funny as she recognized Arie from The Bachelor. He made cheesy Bachelor-related comments in his TH's. It was fun seeing Arie again and at the end the couple Facetimed with Arie and his wife Lauren, thanking him for finding them such a great apartment. Those 15 minutes just keep extending...😄

He was the best part of the show. I thought the couple was really dry and would not be fun at parties.

Apparently Lauren and Arie welcomed their baby daughter yesterday, the day the show aired. Congratulations and best wishes to them. Now go and live your life and get off my TV screen! ew.com/tv/2019/05/30/bachelor-arie-luyendyk-jr-lauren-burnham-daughter/

Watched part of Christina on the Coast episode 2. I am sorry but Christina had better designs as a flipper than as a solo designer. She has contacts in the building trades and understands construction but her designs lack scale, texture, pattern, there is something missing. That little zing factor. I actually prefer Aubrey from Flip of Flop Vegas design choices over Christina's.

Aw, I think she did pretty good with what they had to work with. It was a dinky little master bedroom with terrible old closets and a small, outdated bath. The gray closets they built looked much nicer. The guys weren't into bling-y stuff - if they were hesitant about the black and white tile Christina chose, an Aubrey bathroom would have them in shock.

Oh I loved what Christina did with both the BEDROOM and the BATHROOM. It completed that home for Matt and Ryan. Their KITCHEN was already AWESOME but the Master and Bath did not match the rest of the house. BUT Christina pulled it altogether with her design ideas. I loved it. The door instead of the window was GREAT. AND that MASTER BATH was OUTSTANDING!!!

Good Bones (season 4, episode 3) - Little Pink House on Palmer - May 28, 2019
The Two Chicks with a Hammer bought a 1400 sq ft duplex for $30,000 and the lot has a 2 car garage. This according to the Two Chicks is a big deal. Each unit in the duplex is 700 sq ft with one bedroom and one bath. They are buying it as an investment property, as one side has a renter with a lease. They are going to renovate the empty side with the idea of selling it in the future. It looks as if the unit was undergoing a renovation but there was no finish plumbing and the partial walls were so sturdy the crew could kick them down. That was scary, looks as if they were doing a reno on the cheap and not really upgrading the parts nobody sees but can cause major problems.
I was a tad confused by the $50,000 reno budget as they were going to all of the exterior and the interior of one unit. They ripped off the siding, found NO insulation and had to install that, did some sound proofing between the two units, did an open layout. I liked how Mina said since it was so small and they were not moving electrical or plumbing they didn't have to spend $1000 on having a blueprint drawn up. It sounded as if they were going to put in AC but only on the reno side??? They had to wait until the renter left to do the inside of that unit. They ended up putting in $70,000. I thought the house looked cute and it wasn't too pink. Luv'ed the inside. It is perfect for one person, maybe a couple. I luv'ed the wallpaper, the hexagon tile on the floor, on the kitchen backsplash, and the bathroom wall and floor. I luv'ed the theme and it's variations. So glad to see an outdoor space and it was perfect for Steph and her two midsize to smallish dogs.

Boise Boys (season 2, episode 6) - Stucco in Time - May 29, 2019 House | $450,000 | Budget | $300,000 | Total in | $750,000 | List | $900,000 | Profit | $150,000 | Actual Budget | $350,000 | Actual List | $900,000 | Actual Profit | $100,000 |
I like what they did with the house, removing the stucco inside and out, and painting the house white with black accents and the new wood portico transformed that property as did the concrete decking in back. They really took advantage of the lot and the view. I do like what they did inside, making the view the key feature of this home with that wall of windows in the living room. I don't particularly like green marble and was skeptical that Luke was going to use it on all the counters in the house. Well I must say the green marble looked great in the kitchen, bathrooms, and office. The new fireplace was fabulous as was the new master suite. I luv how they took advantage of the view in all the public rooms and the master. Who cares about the other 3 bedrooms. The firepit and water feature were just icing on the cake. They truly made this an indoor/outdoor living home.

Less than ten minutes into Say Yes to the Nest, Carolina Dreamers, and the wife is already annoying. She wants to spend so much money and not compromise. The groom already mentioned that the wedding was everything she wanted. I guess he is used to this. I don't know if I can watch the rest of the episode.

Good Bones - Season 4, Episode 4 - Mina's Forever Home - June 4, 2019
Finally Mina uses the empty lot she bought in season 1, that was next to her mom's house. I think she is moving from one side of her mom's house to the other. I do think they WAY over built for the neighborhood, but since it was their forever home, and she wasn't planning to move, and it was her dream home, you just sit back and watch the build.
I liked how she solved the "walking from the garage to the house" problem, and the "mowing of the lawn problem" (artificial turf). They used a engineered vinyl plank (EVP) combines the durability and waterproof features of vinyl with the quick and easy installation of laminate to solve the "we have three dogs" problem. I do wonder if the furniture was their's or just staging for the episode? It was nice to see Mina's husband, and Mina's sister. Over all the style of the house was what they normally do but on steroids.

I'm a big sap, I teared up when watching Mina's husband react to the baby booties in the box...and Karen almost hyperventilating! So cute. I had no idea they vacationed in Charleston - I've spent many hours gawking at the gorgeous houses around The Battery - but they did a good job evoking the feel of those houses with the wrought iron and second story porch. I didn't love the all white kitchen, but...it's her dream house. If she wants all white, she gets all white.

I watched Unsellable Houses last night. It is an American version of a show that originated in Britain. There are also versions in Canada and other countries. Leslie and Lindsay Lamb renovate an unsellable house so that it can sell. I like the design last night. It was a home from the 1890s. They took down a rock wall, made the front of the house open concept and redid the kitchen. The white washed the wooden floors, but it looked nice. The bathroom and back yard were also nice. This was the first episode. I am interested in seeing more. This house sold for their asking price. Lindsay and Leslie spilt $78,000 with the homeowners in profit. I also believe the hosts split the costs of the renovations with the homeowners.

I liked the previous version of The Unsellables with the British host. They did major changes with decluttering, cleaning, painting and staging. Yes, some renovations but not that much. I remember the one Victorian house the owner had painted this dark blue and he really, really, really didn't want to pay to get it repainted. He also didn't get why folks wouldn't pay him what he asked for, and fought I think her name was Sophie the entire episode.

There was also an HGTV show from the early 2000s called Design to Sell; the designer had a very small budget of $2,000 to spiff up the home and then the realtor took over with the sale.

I'm starting to wish Christina on the Coast would focus on flips and not homeowners who only want white on white on white kitchens. Gawd. I'm glad she talked them into a blue backsplash (I preferred the blue glass herringbone tile they showed, though), because I'm tired of seeing all white everything. I'm still trying to like the brushed brass hardware, it hasn't really gotten popular here yet. And a rental house costs 10K a month out there??! That's insane. Unspouse My House wasn't bad, he did a nice job brightening up that old 90's kitchen and boring living area. They made that woman's ex sound like a slob who sat around drinking beer, watching football, and making a mess on the table.

Did you notice you could see the terra cotta ends to the backsplash on that one end. That didn't look good. I liked the other blue also. I have to agree she does better with flips. My thinking also, 10K for a month. I'd be living in a homeless shelter if I had to pay that. Unspouse my House wasn't to bad. I liked the kitchen.

Well we do have a new bridge shelter near my residence in Costa Mesa which is next door to all the megas in Newport Beach. Homelessness is ticking upward throughout all Orange County in California where she tapes her show. And, yes, $10,000 sounds more Silicone Valley near San Francisco, but it happens here, too.

I honestly don't know how regular folks can afford anything on the west coast, the prices are out of control. And nennie, I didn't notice that unfinished tile edge. Pretty slack, there's no excuse for that with all the edging options out there.

Even people who own their homes outright in those areas can lose them because they can't keep up with the taxes on houses that have so drastically increased in value.

The blue lowers and white uppers and the white and grey porcelain tile that had the concrete look. Updating the fireplace and new furniture really refreshed the house. While I like a white kitchen I am really preferring darker lower cabinets and white uppers, or a if both uppers and lowers have to be the same color, a lighter colored cabinet (putty or greige) with white counters and a lighter colored backsplash. Really don't like open shelving except if it is only a small bit and for decorative pieces.

I am enjoying Lakefront Bargain House Renovation, wow the titles on HGTV can be so long. I do like that in other parts of the country I am not hearing the place needs a complete gut. I am amazed how far $35,000 can go in parts of the country. That and the couple has friends and family helping. The one I watched this weekend did a partial basement finish. All they did was paint all the many different kinds of walls with white paint, the ceiling rafters/floor joists black, added carpet and POW your basement has a entertainment center. Well, the drop down screen helped of course.

Some of the Fixer Upper client families are so greedy! They put $580,000 into it, and Chip estimated the new value at $596,000. This was in 2015. A year ago (summer of 2018, so three years later), they tried to sell it for $1.5 million!!? That's almost 3x the value from three years before. Pretty sure home values in Waco are not going up 33% per year. What wienies! They put it back on the market about four months ago for $51,000 less than before (which is nothing), and it's still not selling. (What a surprise! LOL) They need a serious reality check. It's a beautiful home, but not many people are going to want to deal with all those stairs, even if it is a Fixer Upper home. And it's just not worth what they are asking. No one is going to pay almost twice its value. Chip and Joanna Gaines' 'Faceless Bunker' Home Featured on 'Fixer Upper' Still on Sale a Year Later
here's an article from realtor.com from when it first went on the market last year. It talks about real estate prices in Waco and questions whether the elevated price per square foot is worth it. "This four-bedroom, 3.5-bath house measures 4,113 square feet, which works out to $280 per square foot. The median price per square foot of a home in the area is currently a budget-friendly $112—way less than half of the price of this Magnolia-renovated beauty. Gaines premium pricing, anyone?" www.realtor.com/news/unique-homes/faceless-bunker-fixer-upper-for-sale (If the link doesn't work, cut and paste it into the URL space on a new page. It really is the right address and does normally work.)
