One of a Kind was good last night. I loved her colors. I think this is probably the best one she has done where I liked all of it. The color palette was so soothing.

I like the show because they are revealing each room as they do it. Last night was the main living room/dining room and staircase.

I have to admit I'm really enjoying A Very Brady Renovation. Not only do they have all six surviving cast members of the show taking part in it, they've also made it a major HGTV event by having their most popular reno show people (Property Brothers, Good Bones, Restored by the Fords (lol), the lady from Flea Market Flip, and Hidden Potential) take part in the renovation of the home. I liked how the Brady Bunch cast helped the HGTV stars by helping tear down different parts of the house and by remembering different accessories, furniture, and wall treatments that was on set and helping the HGTV talent reproduce them/source them out. The 3D reproduction of the horse's legs that was in the living room and the Mondrian pattern by the stairs was pretty cool. They only did the foyer/living room/dining room last night but the Bradys were thrilled with it and told the audience more of their memories of the show. Best of all, they didn't forget to mention the actors who played Mike, Carol, and Alice so they were there in spirit. Here's a great recap article: la.curbed.com/2019/9/10/20859058/brady-bunch-house-hgtv-remodel-interior

I enjoyed it as well. I wasn't sure if it would get too sticky sweet, but they kept a balance and threw in some comedy - i.e. obsessing over the exterior house color.
I am very happy with the HGTV talent brought in, and that they have their own designer and contractor so the Property Bros aren't in charge of everything. So cool that they rented the house next door and the garage is design central. While I hate, hate, hate mid-century design (Scandinavian, Danish) it was cool that they found a store that sells only mid-century furniture.

One of a Kind was good last night. I loved her colors. I think this is probably the best one she has done where I liked all of it. The color palette was so soothing. I think the season 1 the episodes were an hour long so the show seemed short???? I liked what Grace did, especially in the foyer with the wallpaper in on the ceiling and walls. The lady is not afraid of color or pattern. I liked how they expanded the kitchen in and created the Menu Maison with offices/desk space for wife and hubby. Luv'ed the blue stove. Not keen on the brick floor but I understand how it fits the client's wish list. Luv'ed what they did to the old living room converting it to the dining room. Luv'ed that they reused the couple's dining set, just painted it different colors. The sconces were a nice touch. It is kinda funny how her whole team, especially the wallpaper lady think she is crazy but try to comply with her "creative ideas". I don't mind that the main family room is open to the kitchen but the dining room, foyer, and menu maison are off that open area. Seriously not everything has to be open concept. Kitchen & family room being open to each other makes sense, but in current living but it is nice to see a separate dining room, a separate office etc ...

I wasn't crazy about the brick floors. They would be hard to walk on barefoot to me. Open concept is okay but I am a compartmentalized kind of person.

Flip or Flop Season 8
I do detest Tarek and Christina but am watching Season 8, it is about 7 episodes in. The first episode Tarek was just mean and bad tempered and I really though that he must have had botox treatments because there were episodes he didn't move his face at all. By episode 2 or 3 he was better; he was in this great mood. Turns out he found someone to date. I think he is in competition with Christina in on many levels. It was fun to see him get this blood treatment on his face and it looked as if someone ripped off all the skin on his face.
Tarek is doing the design on some of the flips and they are not bad. The trend is for patterned tile and some of it is very nice, especially when they balance with plain tile. All the kitchen so far have looked good, as does the staging. LA remains a very expensive place. Over all I have been hate/enjoying the show

Stay or Sell is OK, mucho big renovations in the $100,000 to $140,000 range. Nice to see what is going on in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Going for Sold airs at 11pm on Thursdays and is a couple flipping in Houston, Texas. At times the flips come across cheap. The house prices in Houston are good in the low $100,000. They don't give a crap about popcorn ceilings and leave them, as they do many, many kitchen cabinets. They paint them. Although the one show they painted the cabinets with the doors on and I am thinking that is going to look horrible when you open the cabinet door. At times the craftsmanship looks kinda shoddy. Just saying. $30,000 can renovate an entire house in Houston. I am getting used to their staging and design choices.
Masters of Flip - lov the Wilsons from Nashville. They have had two or three shows on HGTV of various names and lengths. They are airing season two at 7am on Wednesdays. Luv Kortney's sense of design and color. You can paint your house any kind of crazy color in East Nashville.

One of a Kind Season 2 Episode 1 - Southern Revival - September 9, 2019
I liked what Grace did with the house. She took the existing floor plan tweaked to suit the couple, reused some of their furniture (smart) and created wonderful kitchen, family room, office, dining room and foyer. I liked the color palette of white, tones of blue and toned of green, with metallics thrown in. The blue stove was magnificent as were the two refrigerators. The wall paper in the foyer was fun and a blend of traditional and modern.

One of a Kind episode (season 2, episode 2) - From Groovy to Gorgeous - September 16, 2019
Wow, I luv'ed what Grace did with this house, it was simply amazing. I liked how she took the original kitchen wallpaper blew it up, used just the outlines and created a modern retro 60's inspired wallpaper with a few hand-colored bits. Luv'ed the kitchen back-splash but the teal grout made it a total standout. Luv'ed the table made from the old maple siding. Much of what Grace does sounds crazy but she does reward with a fabulous finished product. The outside of the house was refreshed with paint, the footprint remained the same but it was totally different inside.
I do wonder what she can do with a budget under $100,000? In all of the episodes I have seen the smallest budget was $120,000.

Flip or Flop - okay, that had to be the biggest shower I've seen in my life. Good grief. I didn't love the backsplash tile, but the rest of the house looked nice. It seems like Tarek is making a lot more of the design choices...and they made a good bit of money on this one.

Liked the tile in the master bathroom. Liked the tile on the family room fireplace. Liked the tile in the second bathroom and they used it on the fountain outside the house. All good choices which is why I am confused to the choice of the kitchen back splash, it just was not at the same level.

Ugh, she is the absolute worst.
I mean, anyone would be better than his last girlfriend (the one who cheated on him throughout the entire relationship while taking his money, gifts, etc). He's managed to only get papped a few times with gfs over the years but he's been with Zooey a whole 2 weeks and she's already calling the paps. /eyeroll Seems like someone is trying to give her soon to be ex a message. Mess.

Flip or Flop has been very tolerable this season. Tarek is doing crazy stuff like botox, the bleeding skin thing, and he is on some kind of crazy detox diet. He seems very happy with his new girlfriend and that translates into Tarek getting along with his ex-wife. I have liked their tile choices in most of the episodes and I liked the blue 3D tile they used in both bathrooms. The only thing with this weeks house was the really awkward layout which should have been addressed at the beginning.

A Very Brady Renovation
Thankfully only 4 episodes long.
While it is nice to see the original house what does HGTV plan to do with the finished product? Give Tours?
I for one HATE the avocado green, orange, harvest gold color palette. Didn't like it the first time around and don't like it the second time around. Hated the wallpaper in the girls' room.
Anyone notice how weird it is that all the reveals the Brady Kids are wearing the same clothes????

I'm catching up with the Brady Renovation. Yes it's a little hokey but I've been enjoying it a lot. I'm suspending disbelief about the actors' actual involvement, and how staged some segments may have been, because you have to do the same thing to watch the original show. As a kid I was hooked on the Brady Bunch since they played the reruns in daytime during summer breaks from school. Oh, and I happen to be the youngest of 6 kids in my family. Considering what they had to work with in terms of the house's real interior, I thought the designers pulled off a real accomplishment. This must have cost an immense amount of money to complete. Considering HGTV bought the house as well, I wonder how long it will be before they break even on the project. They'd be crazy not to give house tours, or rent it out for special events.

One of a Kind (season 2, episode 4) - The Wine Cellar Bathroom - September 23, 2019
Google indicates this is episode 4 but there was no episode 3 which supposedly aired the same night???
Budget: $60,000 or was it $40,000, I was thinking this is the smallest budget I have seen so far on this show and they redid the living room, which was more cosmetic, but totally redid the master bedroom, and bathroom. 3 rooms for $60,000 is not bad - the insurance company was redoing the kitchen.
The bedroom layout with the mother-in-law suite was weird and they did a good job with it. Nice bathroom. I wonder how practical the cork tiles are?
