Holy cow, you guys! I just watched Abducted in Plain Sight and WOW was that nuts. I kept wanting to reach through the TV and smack those parents. How can people be SO naive!? All I can say is, if I was 12 and a 40-year old man had wanted to be alone in my room with me (much less anything else they allowed), my father would have gotten the shotgun and a shovel. I have to question their intelligence....I genuinely mean that. That's just not normal. After that first kidnapping, I would have pressed charges and made sure his a$$ was in jail. I certainly wouldn't still be speaking to him and there's NO WAY in hell my kid would be flown to another state to see him! The mind boggles....
Way - I think we probably had the same expression on our faces while watching it! I had to Google it in the middle of watching to make sure it was really real and not a movie made to look like a documentary. All kinds of WTF going on.

Ray Romano has a new comedy special streaming now. It was filmed in Greenwich Village NYC at the Comedy Cellar where he got his start. We enjoyed it.

I just watched the first episode of The Umbrella Academy and it was pretty good. It definitely has the same feel as the movie, Watchmen, kind of retro noir and rainy. It was interesting. I like the perspective of the ordinary girl among extraordinary siblings.

I also watched the first episode. Perhaps too weird for me. Also, if the "normal" girl came from the same circumstance, there is no way she isn't gifted in some way.

Not surprised, it has been hinted at for a while now given the Marvel Disney connection. Hope they get new life soon.

The characters can’t appear in a non-Netflix show for two years after cancellation so it will be at least a bit before they appear again (if they do).

REALLY angry about the latest Marvel cancellations, although not the least bit surprised. The only surprising thing is that they didn't wait until after the next season of JJ was released to cancel it. Those were some of my favorite Netflix shows too.
The other cancellation that really bums me out is Friends From College. I thought season 2 was even better than season 1.
I watched the thoroughly enjoyed Umbrella Academy. I loved the cast and enjoyed the show. I've been missing Tom Hopper since Black Sails ended, so I was happy to see him again. Ellen Page was terrific, as was the rest of the cast.

I plan on watching TUA as soon as my Gossip Girl marathon ends.. sometimes you need a palate cleanser. I have been anticipating this ever since I read about it months ago. If I recall, there are about 3 series written and a fourth in the works, so that should provide fodder for the show for a few seasons to come. I am looking forward to seeing Number 3 I am happy to hear that it is getting good feedback. Maybe I can get my slightly snarky offspring to watch this one with me, since we never agree on any shows that don't involve Marvel, she is a My Chemical Romance fan and likes Gerard Way so there is slim hope hah.

Netflix has purchased Wandering Earth
-One of the biggest movies in the world right now that has already surpassed half a billion dollars at the box office in China, without even having completed its second week of release yet. The movie, a sci-fi epic that tells the story of people trying to save earth from being destroyed by the sun, is already the second-highest grossing film in China ever.

I'm halfway through The Umbrella Academy and am loving it so far.
Also finished Kingdom, a Korean (subtitled in English) zombie tale set in 15th century Korea. Extremely well done, they're working on season two right now.

So I am totally in love with Olivia Colman, so I went into her IMDB profile and found out that she's doing a mini-series of Les Miserables that will be released this year. I am also a big fan of Les Mis.
Little, innocent old lady that I am, I went into Netflix to do a search on Les Mis to see if they had any versions of it available.
I had no idea how many hits I'd get just by typing "les" in the search box. Most of the hits had "les" followed by "bian." What a way to open my eyes on a Monday morning.
LOL.

If you love Olivia Colman, look for her episode of Who Do You Think You Are? on YouTube. You'll fall in love with her even more! I'm going to assume you've already watched Broadchurch, but if not, definitely watch it. She's won three BAFTAs and one of them was for Broadchurch.
Yep, there's a whole lot you'll find on Netflix that you didn't know was there! Makes you rethink your search words, doesn't it?
BTW, the version of Les Miserables that she's in begins airing on PBS Masterpiece on April 14th

Then we borrowed the DVDs for Gracepoint (the American version with David Tennant, but no one else from Broadchurch). Gracepoint was a major disappointment . . . "Ellie" in Gracepoint couldn't hold a CANDLE to Olivia Colman! Thanks for the info on Les Miserables. I will DEFINITELY be watching for it!!!!

My latest binge is Grace & Frankie. I just love it. I just finished Season 1, Episode 11. I guess there are a few seasons available. Good. So far a lot of the time I find a show I'm enjoying, and I find out it's only a 1 season show.
I really am enjoying this Fire Stick stuff. It's like a whole world of TV shows that I didn't even know existed. So far some of them are Amazon Prime & some are Netflix. I originally planned to watch a bunch of movies, but I keep finding series shows that I want to watch. So far I've only watched 1 movie.

I mostly watch TV shows on Netflix and Amazon (and Hulu), Miss S. I watch movies sometimes, but I'm a binge watcher. I especially enjoy finding British and Australian shows I've never even heard of before. AZC - agreed about Gracepoint. I liked Anna Gunn on Breaking Bad (as much as anyone could like Skyler), but she was a definite step down from Olivia Colman. That series was just another example of a great British series ruined by American TV. I still watched it because, you know, David Tennant ( ), but I had to go watch Broadchurch afterwards
