In the past few weeks, I have been all over some Netflix. And loved everything I watched!
All the Light we can Not See - It was very very good. And Uncle Etienne was the Professor!!
Fall of the House of Usher - Binged on a Saturday. Straight through. Riveting. At the end of ever episode I had to watch the next one. I enjoyed how everything seemed to be a nod to one of Poe's other works. The Crown Season 6 ep 1-4. I had always thought they were engaged and she was in love, etc. The way it was portrayed on the show, his father pressured him into proposing and she said no anyway. i will be sad when this show is done
Squid Games -The Challenge. Love it. They made it as much like the original non reality show as they could without actually killing people. My favorite part was when 432 was eliminated.
Started Escaping Twin Flames. Need to get back to it

The Crown- I watched the first part. They definitely portrayed Charles in a good light. I hope he was really like that - grieving diana sincerely and regretful for his part in her pain. The scene where he is on the plane and imagining what Diana would say was heartbreaking. Who knows what Dodi and Diana's relationship was really, but I wish she had been more forceful in insisting on skipping Paris and going home to see her boys. Maybe she wanted to be with him there and not just putting up with it; it's just so sad.

I guess I just thought she had more sense to pick someone other than a playboy type.

His father wanted badly to be associated with the Royal family. I can't get into it, I have to be in the right mood. The actress playing Diana does a wonderful job.

She is EXCEPTIONAL. At times I forgot I wasn't actually watching Diana herself. I was 15 when Diana passed. But remember how it shook our household (my dad was born in London, England). I cried like a baby in this last episode.

We watched "Bad Surgeon" today. I'd seen an early show (Dateline??) about him. He makes those folks on Catfish look like major amateurs.

Adding Bad Surgeon to my list...
I finished the Escaping Twin Flames mess and wow. How do so many people fall for this absolute doofus and his BS? He's got zero appeal, no charisma. I don't get it.

May December, a loose take on the Mary Kay Letourneau and youngster student romance. It's really, really good! The actor playing her young husband is so good. This is worth watching.

I finished Leo - Adam Sandler's new movie, and absolutely enjoyed it. Very cute and warm-hearted.

The Crown, wow, wow, wow! They have done EXCELLENT with the casting. I had to look Dodi up because I forgot what he looked like and wow. The actor for Dodi was great. I think I blame his father for everything after watching! I was surprised they did Diana’s death so quickly. I started crying when I saw her in the black jacket because I knew that’s what she had on. I guess maybe they will end it with William and Kate’s wedding? I too hope Charles was as sad as they portrayed him.

I read 2005, which may unfortunately mean it ends with Charles and Camilla's wedding. It is my strong opinion that he should have been allowed to marry her in the first place. I guess I can read up on it, but I don't quite understand what was so objectionable about her.

Charles (and probably Andrew Parker-Bowles) had already seen to it that Camilla was NOT a virgin on her wedding night.

Surely by the 1970's the royals had moved beyond verifying the maidenhood of the future king's wife? One article I read: "Royal Historian, Thomas Mace-Archer-Mills, told Refinery 29, “The number one rule before the looks or the breeding of a potential royal spouse, was that she be a virgin first and foremost," he said. "This rule has always been strictly observed for women marrying senior royals - it was a condition of marriage." He revealed that this is to ensure that any child that is born from their marriage is absolutely the next heir and not fathered by anyone else that she has slept with."

I've always pictured Diana as that tethered-up goat in Jurassic Park. That poor girl didn't stand a chance I do feel for Charles too, being forced to marry someone he didn't love and still pining for the woman he always did love. SO many people want to vilify him and Camilla, but I was happy for them when they were finally able to be together. It's the way it should have been all along.
I watched the stuff with Diana and Dodi knowing it was probably artistic license on the part of the writers/showrunners. I don't think there's any proof that she didn't want to marry him. As with a lot in this series - the things behind closed doors (and especially with conversations with two people who are both dead) it's likely fiction.
Is anyone else watching Obliterated? It's the very opposite of The Crown Violence, nudity (from nearly everyone, which, you know kudos to the guys and it's about time), and silliness. I watched 4 episodes last night. I had such a crush on C. Thomas Howell as a teen and now he's the old guy in the cast AND doing full frontal. This show is NOT going to win any awards, but it's nice if you just want to watch something that isn't demanding....you know, as long as you're okay with sex, nudity and violence

Nyad. It's about Diana Nyad's swim from Cuba to Florida at age 64. Annette Benning is wonderful as Diana and Jody Foster is also terrific as her coach. The ending left me in happy tears!

I'm looking forward to watching that with my folks. They've seen her speak several times and my dad chatted with her at an event. They got on really well, apparently, and he really liked her.

Oh, then def watch it with them! How lucky your folks were to meet her! Benning is wonderful! Jody too. The story so inspiring! And in closing credits are lots of scenes with the real Diana. It'll be all the better to watch it with them! It's a blessing to share memories your parents pass down.

We really enjoyed it. What Diana had to endure, from swollen lips, to jelly fish. Unbelievable. Annette Bening was incredible.

My local senior center just gave Annette Benning an award; the woman who heads the Department for the Ageing said that one scene shows Benning's ankles, and seeing them in all their reality resonated with her. She said the movie did a lot to combat ageism. Now I have to see it. (Benning was in Australia and wasn't there personally, just in case you thought I might be hanging out with stars!)

I think , if I am remembering correctly, Camilla's family was also not titled. So, not only has she been in too many relationships so that her virginity was in question; her family wasn't considered as aristocratic as they could be; wealthy and old money but not of the same "pedigree".

Camilla wanted to marry Charles but he really was not ready. It's one of those right person but not the right time. Camilla didn't want to wait and she married someone else.

Squid Game: The Challenge - this started out great and sort of got worse at the end. Not thrilled with the winner nor did I like the final "game" for over 4 million. They're already casting for a second season. Reptile - this was a really good murder mystery, plus I'll watch anything with Benicio Del Toro in it. Obliterated - so much fun! Kind of a twisted A-Team/ The Hangover mashup. I hope they do another season.

Leave the World Behind. Starring Julia Roberts, Mahershala Ali and Ethan Hawke. This was really good. A family rents a country Airbnb away from the big city. Things start to go very, very bad!

I read the book and enjoyed it. I wonder how closely the movie follows the plot of the book. I’m not a huge Julia Roberts fan, but I love Mahershala Ali. I’d watch it just for him.
