I caught "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure" on the Keanu marathon Sci-Fi channel is running this weekend in honor of his birthday. It was just as silly and fun as I remembered.

I watched Venom, even after hearing that it had so many terrible reviews. It kind of started going downhill and getting ridiculous for me when the Venom voice started talking and it went more comedic. I liked that it wasn't really long though like some of the other super hero type of movies and it was unique, but it was still kind of a mess. lol The main actor looked like Simon Rex.

I watched Palm Springs. It’s different, and in the beginning that threw me off. But once I understood what was going on it won me over.

Frankie (2019) - an American/ French film drama starring Isabelle Huppert, Marisa Tomei, Brendan Gleeson and Greg Kinnear. I enjoyed it but Mr. EMC declared it a bore.

I saw it this weekend too. Silly & fun is the perfect way to describe it. Now I'd like to see the new one. It's coming to our movie theater, but I won't be going. I hope it gets on Netflix, Amazon Prime or Disney soon.

But there is a home option for it.

I have not looked yet for Bill and Ted, but based on the way most of the theater releases have done it, I would say most of them. I've found them on Amazon, Apple TV+ and my calbe on demand (I have Comcast). Now that movie theaters are open again, studios are choosing to release some movies in theater only - like Tenent and Unhinged. But during the theater closures, AMC made a deal where they committed to releasing other titles straight to On Demand for the foreseeable future. So for people willing to pay $20-$30 for a streaming movie, it looks like there will be more options for watching new releases at home now.

Sling has it for 19.95. I would imagine that most cable/online streaming services have it for about the same cost.

If you use Roku,, you can search on the device and if it is on any service it supports, it will pop up though, of course, for a pricey price.

Sling has it for 19.95. I would imagine that most cable/online streaming services have it for about the same cost. I have Amazon Fire Stick, with Prime, Netflix & Disney+. I have no cable or online streaming services. I had Alexa do a search for me last night & found it on Amazon Prime. It's $19.95. No thanks. I'm willing to pay $5.95. That seems to be the going rental rate there. I figure that's roughly what it costs to go to the movies (with Senior Discount). I might even spring for $9.95, and justify it by saying that I can pop my own popcorn. However, that's the tops for me. Seeing that I live alone, I can't use the excuse of how much it costs for a family. I'll wait 'till it shows up free or cheap on one of my services. Or wait 'till next Summer & hope this Summer's movies come back around then for people who wouldn't go this year. Of course, that's assuming we have a vaccine by then. I'm finally making friends with Alexa. I found her creepy at first, but I'm finding her useful now.

The thought of Alexa still scares me, but the vision impaired worker says it is a boon for those who are vision impaired.

The newest Men in black. This was the worst one by far, tough to get through.

I finally got around to watching Black Panther. I taped it when ABC had it on a couple weeks ago. While the acting and characters were excellent & the creation of the whole "world" of Wakanda was impressive, I have to admit that I was underenthused with the movie.
I guess for what it was, it was good, but I'm just not a fan of Superhero movies, or Action movies as genres. Way too much destruction & violence for the purpose of destruction & violence, to the point that that seems to be the primary storyline. That & the fact that they all seem like little more than special effects showcases.
Another problem I had was that I'd just read/heard way too many glowing reviews of this movie. I was expecting it to blow my socks off with how wonderful the movie was. To grab my interest & never let it go. It just wasn't what I expected or wanted. This has happened before with movies with tons of hype. They just never live up to what I'm hoping for.
Anyhow, I'm glad I did watch it. The performances were good & with all the hype I'm glad I got to see what they were talking about. I did like the fact that I recognized an awful lot of the actors/actresses & like them. But if you're not a fan of Superhero/Action movies, this one won't change your mind.
The Dark Knight was an exception, but I was dragged to that one against my will. Maybe that's why I enjoyed it. I went in expecting the very worst & got a good movie. This time was the opposite. I went in expecting to be blown away & wasn't.

Watched Tron Legacy last night and really enjoyed the special effects. Also, "While You Were Sleeping" is back on Disney+ and I watched that as well.

Knives out So many times when watching a movie, I wonder if I even want to finish it. Not this one!! What fun from the get-go. Terrific cast with special props to Daniel Craig and his over-the-top-but-somehow-perfect Southern drawl. The lead actress who'se name has slipped my mind is very good.and great to see Jamie Lee Curtis, Toni Collette, Don Johnson.

The Invisible Man - with Elisabeth Moss. Pretty good, decent suspense build up. I had issues with a few plot holes, but can forgive those since the rest of the movie was done well.

I watched How to Build a Girl over the weekend. Beanie Feldstein is such a revelation. I liked her before, I really like her now. It had a couple of weak plot points but over all it was a fun watch.

Just Mercy
Essential viewing for everyone imho , teens and up. An excellent way to open a family discussion about the current unrest about racial injustice, institutional racism, and the Black Lives Matter movement. It's powerful, disturbing, and sadly, still relevant 30+ years later.

I am Woman: Helen Reddy's popular song "I Am Woman" becomes an anthem for the women's movement in the 1970s. One of those nice Sunday afternoon flicks. The King of Staten Island: A semi-autobiographical comedy-drama about Pete Davidson growing up in Staten Island. I watch anything from Judd Apatow and this turned out to be one of his smartest and genuine films yet. This is the second movie I've seen with Pete Davidson recently and I'm enjoying his comedic style. The High Note: About a superstar singer (Tracee Ross) and her overworked personal assistant (Dakota Johnson). I enjoyed these actors together. It was a fun feel good movie.

The Banker - Anthony Mackie, Samuel L. Jackson, and Nicholas Hoult star in this movie about two black businessmen that hired and taught a white man to be the face of their business. This is based on the true story of Bernard Garrett. Enjoyed it, and appreciated the ingenuity to make their business work despite the obstacles. The government got them in the end, but all of the men ultimately took care of each other.

Train to busan. This was good, even with the predictible ending. Males seem to rarely survive horror movies.

"Rocket Science", a 2007 film starring a young Anna Kendrick with a cameo by Jonah Hill. I was not familiar with the male, teenage lead. It was billed as a comedy drama but it was more drama than comedy. It was a coming of age drama, I guess. I'm still trying to figure out if I liked it.

"Eyes Wide Shut." I really enjoyed the score and how Kubrick shot this. I also think it's one of Cruise and Kidman's better films because it's a big departure from the roles they usually play.

DOWNHILL (on HBO) with Will Ferrell and Julia Louis Dreyfus. In a word......HORRIBLE. Earlier in the week I watch GLEE 3D the Movie (2011) (HBO) ........I love this movie (as I have seen it before) but it was so sad watching this movie knowing both Corey and Naya are gone. Friday I watched DIRTY DANCING (HBO).....love love love but once again another two leads gone, Jerry O and Patrick S.

Was in real need of a "Rom-Com" last night and saw "About Time" offered on Netflix. I'd seen it before, but at my age I forget stuff.
I loved it. Several Harry Potter actors, along with someone from Downton Abbey AND "Princess Margaret" from the first two seasons of The Crown.
The concept is that the male children of a family are told (by their father) at the age of 21 that the males are able to "time travel." There are restrictions (you can only go back through your own life, and you can't go into the future).
Partway through the movie, as the son (Domnhall Gleeson) has married and become a lawyer. His father (Bill Nighy) says, "At this part, the best advice I can give you is this: At the end of every day, go back in time to the beginning of that day and live it over again. Focus on the fun and beauty of each day, and let go of the stress of anything that was less than perfect.
But the best part for me was at the end. Nighy's character, about to die of lung cancer, tells his son that the real secret to success in life is to choose to live each day from the beginning in the most positive light, so that traveling back and re-doing it is no longer needed.
I think I needed to hear that reminder of how to choose to look at things every day.

Never have understood the popularity. And this movie was not a COMEDY which WF generally tends to star in......this was a more of just all DRAMA. Parents yelling at each other in front of their sons. SAD. I do NOT think Julia smiled ONCE in the film. Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 37% and IMDb gave it a 4.8 out of 10........I had seen the trailers and now that it was on HBO I thought I would watch it. It's just terrible.
