I have to carve out 4 hours of a very busy life to watch Justice League. A lot of people are breaking it up into two-hour a day chunks. From what I heard it is so much better than the version released at the theater initially; I'm glad Snyder was able to get his vision out in the open.

Finally saw Justice League - Snyder Cut. Per usual with DC Comics movies, I'm glad I didn't pay to see it.

We watched a delightful film on Netflix last night. About Time came out in 2013 and stars Domhnall Gleeson, Rachel McAdams and Bill Nighy. What a sweet little film and it's always a treat when Bill Nighy is in a film.

I love that movie ECM!!! I almost never watched it because I was annoyed by Rachel McAdams doing so many time travel love stories. But I gave in and was so glad I did. It is such a fantastic story!!!

I finally got around to watching The King of Staten Island - I liked it more than I thought I would, especially the last half with the firefighters. Just enough humor to lighten some of the heavier subject matter without taking away from it.
Also watched Honest Thief, a pretty decent Liam Neeson film. A lot of the usual ass kicking stuff, but a perfectly good popcorn movie.

About Time came out not long after my brother's sudden death. I've only watched it once and it was definitely an ugly cry through most of the movie. I've never been able to watch it again

Godzilla vs. Kong - I don't care about the bad reviews (who cares how Hollow Earth works? ), I thought it was fun! I mean, it's a giant radioactive lizard fighting a huge ape, what do you want? I could have done without some of the humans, but the effects were fantastic, the ending was pretty satisfying, and bonus: lots of Alexander Skarsgard. Unhinged - Russell Crowe is having a very, very bad day. Tense, fast-paced and with several violent what?! scenes, it kept me stressed out for 90 minutes.

I'll try to catch it on HBO Max. Seeing as this is typically summer filler, I'll try not to have any expectations.

Watched Coming 2 America last night on Amazon Prime.
It was better than I'd expected. I liked the characters more than I thought I would. The previews showed them differently than they were in the movie. I think that was for comic effect, but I don't find unpleasant stereotypes comical. They were much more likable & funnier than in the previews. The movie wasn't nearly as good as the first one, but still a fun watch. Well worth my time.

We watched Promising Young Woman last night. Carey Mulligan was fantastic in it. The movie was good but not what I expected. Some surprise moments, some not surprising. I enjoyed it.

I watched The Father over the weekend. I thought it was an outstanding depiction of dementia and the challenges of giving care to someone suffering from it. It did such a great job that I'd hesitate to recommend it to anyone who has been in that caregiver role unless they are prepared for how real it can be!
Anthony Hopkins was his regular fantastic self, and Olivia Coleman was outstanding!

Some moments hit home for me ,some will stay with me for awhile. Especially one! It really did make you think about attitudes, not just of others but of our own. We supposedly had a case happen similar to this. They weren't my peer group, I wasn't at this party, I was new to the school, I barely knew anyone.... so I don't know for sure what happened, but now I wonder. Rumor or truth? It also makes you think how often this happens and it is swept under the rug, especially years ago. It did prompt discussion between me and my husband about how times have changed and how sadly, they have not.

Wonder Woman 1984...we hated it! It was pretty bad in my opinion.. I've heard & read this many times. I wanted to see this soooooo bad, having loved the 1st one. I've been following all the release info all last year, hoping to see it. I don't get, nor do I plan to get HBO Max. Plus, even if it were on a service I do get I wouldn't pay the overinflated rental fee. There's only 1 of me, so I can't justify that. I was hoping it would return to the theaters here, but that's not happening. Now I see the DVD is for sale in all the grocery stores, but the price is too high. After reading the negative opinions/reviews I'm not going to bother at all anymore. I did read a lot of stuff on this movie, and it's a shame how the COVID19 pandemic absolutely sunk this movie. Multiple reschedules until a lackluster release in barely opened barely attended theaters, going HBO Max as a desperation move, now the early DVD release. The movie would have had to have been absolutely fantastic to have broken even, and that didn't happen on either case. Too bad. Even a poor movie deserves a break & this one didn't get one. Maybe someday I'll see it in the $5.00 bin at Walmart & give it a try.

Down Periscope. A fun popcorn movie featuring Kelsey Grammer. Also Jonathan Penner although he is barely recognizable.

Set It Up on Netflix. I didn't recognize the two leads but their bosses were played by Taye Diggs and Lucy Liu. It was an enjoyable, if predictable film.

Set It Up on Netflix. I didn't recognize the two leads but their bosses were played by Taye Diggs and Lucy Liu. It was an enjoyable, if predictable film. Zoey Deutch is the daughter of Lea Thompson and director Howard Deutch (they met when filming Howard the Duck, which is probably the only good thing to come of that movie). She's carving out a nice career for herself. Glenn Powell has been in a bunch of TV shows and movies, including Hidden Figures and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (great movie, but annoyingly long title ). He's set to star in the new Top Gun movie. Both of them are rising stars for sure. I liked them in Set It Up much more than Lucy Liu and Taye Diggs, which was probably the point
I've been seeing reviews of Mortal Kombat for the last few days and only today saw that it is on HBO Max. Guess I'm watching that this afternoon! Frankly, I don't ever want to go back to new releases just being in the theater! I pay a ton for cable and streaming services. I don't want to pay even more money (more than I pay monthly for several streaming services) to go to a movie theater where I have to deal with other people talking and chewing and just being Oh, and where I can't pause the movie for snacks or a bathroom break!
