Soft & Quiet….what a movie. It made me so disgusted…. Yikes! I read the synopsis.... We watched A Knock at the Cabin. Was it the greatest movie ever? Not really, but it was an okay way to spend 90 minutes or so. It did bring up an interesting conversation between my husband and myself. I am quick to believe and he is not.

^It's a disturbing movie...I looked over to my husband and his face was red...the movie made him so angry.
We also watched A Knock at the Cabin over the weekend. It was decent.

Watched Wakanda Forever and thought it was a beautiful and fitting send off for Chadwick, especially with the funeral scene. I'm not a huge Marvel fan but a major draw in the Black Panther movies is Ruth Carter's costume design. The amount of research and detail that went into everyone clothes from Ramona's Queen attire to the entire funeral scene, to the clothes and armour of the fish people makes watching this film an absolute delight; I was in awe during certain scenes. Major drawback: A lot of focus is on Shuri, and while I like Leticia Wright her acting chops aren't nearly as developed as Angela Bassett or Danai Gurira (Michonne on Walking Dead as well as Okoye in BP) and it's really noticeable in scenes she shared with them. There was also plotlines that went nowhere, like the girl scientist that the Fish People wanted to kill, but then they didn't? Also my fav Michaela Cole is in this as a new shieldwoman, but they didn't do that much with her. And apparently Okoye got fired from her job as Main Shieldwoman, but then she wasn't? Confusing. Whatever. Watch for the beauty and artistry of Ruth Carter's costume designs and some really beautiful sets (the underwater scenes are all gorgeous).

Whatever. Watch for the beauty and artistry of Ruth Carter's costume designs and some really beautiful sets (the underwater scenes are all gorgeous). Totally agree, especially about Leticia Wright. She was fine as a supporting character in the first movie, but not a strong enough actress or, really, an interesting enough character, to carry the movie. I'd much rather see more Danai in anything. She's 100 times more interesting to watch than LW.
I may get flack for this and I LOVE Angela Bassett, but I don't see why everyone thought she was robbed at the Oscars. She was her usually Angela Bassett-awesome, but that was not an Oscar-level role. JMHO.
I didn't hate it. It was fine. You're right though - it was a gorgeous movie. Both the cinematography and the costumes were spectacular. After Chadwick though, I don't know that they needed to make a sequel. It was just never going to be as good without him. It only made me think "what if" about a sequel with Chadwick in it

The Whale.
A pretty emotional and raw drama about a morbidly obese man that has eaten as a coping mechanism, after losing the love of his life. He hasn’t left the house in years, due to not being able to barely walk. It's a difficult story, that requires patience and empathy from the viewer. Brendan Fraser was tremendous, his Oscar was well deserved.

And yes, I wept. One of those movies that you think about for awhile after you view it.

80 For Brady. It was pretty much what I expected, mildly amusing but predictable. I am just glad to see older actresses getting work.

Digging around on streaming services again. Looking for new movies I want to see, or hidden gems I've managed to miss over the years. Today's was Almost Famous. I'd never seen it before. I really enjoyed it. I usually FF past any draggy parts in movies, to make my watching time shorter. This time I never FF'd even once.
One of the things I really enjoyed is that it took place in the early to mid 70's. That's when I started going to concerts, & really got into Rock'n Roll. I could identify with William, the main character, although I never travelled with a band. I never had any desire to. Listening to the music & going to concerts was enough for me. I loved the movie, liked the characters & enjoyed the ending a lot. The background music was great too.

I've never seen Almost Famous, MissScarlet, but wasn't the main character based on director Cameron Crowe's own experiences as a roadie? Last night we watched Uncle Frank, starring Paul Bettany as Frank. Margo Martindale played his mom. It takes place in the 1970s. Frank left his small town in SC to attend college and rarely came back. He became a college professor at NYU and his niece, who's more like him, than their conservative relatives back home, is accepted into NYU's freshman class. A road trip back home to attend a family funeral brings them closer together. This was a bit sad, but very sweet film.

Amsterdam , starring Christian Bale, John David Washington, and Margaret Robbie, plus a slew of other notable actors. I'm still digesting it. It was quirky, but it all came together at the end.

MONEYBALL (2011) (HBO)
FACES/OFF (1997) (SHOW)
Two really great movies (we needed to watch again) when I saw them pop up on TV.
THE FLASH (at the theater)
We loved it. So much action.

I Met A Girl Australian drama released in 2020 dealing with mental illness inside a family. So sweet, funny, and heartbreaking all at the same time. The story touched on the sibling relationship, friends, random interactions, and of course the mysterious love interest. I liked that the ending was fine either way.

Went to see No Hard Feelings today. I really enjoyed it. Jennifer Lawrence is her generations Sandra Bullock. They are both treasures.

Even if the movie wasn't terrific - and it definitely is - the clothing and PARIS make it worth the watch!

I really want to see this but keep forgetting to get a copy from the library. Being big fans of the Evil Dead movies as well as the series, Ash vs. the Evil Dead, we were looking forward to the newest installment, Evil Dead Rise. What a disappointment. They need to let this franchise rest. The movie lacked the humor of the originals. There were a couple of moments when I thought here we go, they are getting it, but nope. Just a standard horror film that broke some of the Evil Dead rules. It needed Bruce Campbell, {Spoiler} no car cameo but there was a chainsaw.

Absolutely outstanding.
The ACTION was endless.
I love a movie with tons of action and this was it.
One review I read called it GUTSY, THRILLING and GRIPPING.

Magic Mike's Last Dance - I didn't expect a masterpiece here, but this was pretty bad. Zero chemistry between Channing and Salma, no appearances by the original guys (that 10 second Zoom meeting didn't count). There IS some great dancing, but you have to endure two hours of seriously lame dialogue to see it.

A horror author I follow on Facebook recommended the movie, Skinamarink. In the movie some children wake up to find their parents gone and the doors and windows of their house gone. It was supposed to be very eerie and good. It wasn't. 10 minutes in and it was all shots of objects around the house, walls, fireplace, carpeting..... WE skipped ahead 5 minutes, same things.... we skipped ahead 10 and the same. We gave up. Maybe there is a decent movie in there but after about a half hour, we didn't see it.
Reading up on it, I guess that is the whole movie.
