Was in a retro mood and watchd Flashdance. It's interesting how certain things you see when you're a kid/young teen has a big influence on your design aesthetic/things you like later in life because I saw it when I was in 8th grade and thought it was the coolest thing ever that she converted a garage into her living space, and to this day I prefer open living spaces/lofts. I also admit that the dancing is the best part of the movie because the plot is really thin, lol.

Killers of the Flower Moon - brilliant movie, it's not often I sit through one that long (almost 3 1/2 hours) and never feel the need to check my watch. Lily Gladstone was just outstanding. And I need to go read the book this was based on, because I'd never heard of this awful bit of history...

And I need to go read the book this was based on, because I'd never heard of this awful bit of history... I work at a library and I, along with tons of people, had holds on the DVD/Blu-ray. They decided to not release it for now and it is only streaming. I was in charge of contacting people to let them know we were cancelling their holds! One patron was shocked saying what an important movie this was for everyone to see. I am keeping my fingers crossed I can see it at some point. Also, a co-worker mentioned that the Pioneer Woman's husband's family owns a lot of that land.

Fast X - just as ridiculous as the previous installment F9 (cars in space!) but Jason Momoa's wonderfully over the top villain made it all watchable. That, and the five whole minutes I got of Jason Statham.

I'm indifferent to Leo, one way or the other. My daughter-in-law is part Osage Native American on her paternal side. I'm not sure what percentage, but it's enough for her to be considered a tribal member, and as such, probably my two little grandsons are as well. We rented "The Holdovers" from Amazon Prime last night. I thought it was fantastic.

I was trepidatious to watch Saltburn since people were saying that it was gross, and I am really, really not into gross things. But I went for it and glad I did. It wasn't gross in the way I was thinking (eating eyeball kinda thing). I LOVED it. Just the type of movie I love that has a twist and is about class. I don't know why Jacob Elordi was the host of SNL when Barry did all the heavy lifting. Also, Rosamund Pike was in it, and over the holidays, a woman came up to me saying that I looked just like her! (I don't, but love the compliment) Congrats on the nice compliment -- she is beautiful, as I'm sure YOU are too. That movie was so weird, upsetting, and disturbing to me, I couldn't recommend it to anyone. Jacob Elordi was sure nice to look at, but it was just bizarre, and the gross parts were gross, but mostly disturbing. I couldn't get over it! I wished I hadn't watched it, to be honest. But, I'm glad there were people like you, beer, who liked it, and I know it was nominated for some awards, so I'm apparently on an island! lol The plot was also something I'd heard of or seen before - not sure where, but when it came to the ending, I knew it sounded familiar.

Dealing with our dreary rainy cold day, I took your advice, Eastcoastmom and hubby and I rented " The Holdovers" as well on Prime. ($5.99). We absolutely loved it esp being filmed totally in Massachusetts!!! What a great storyline and the acting by all was phenomenal!!!

The Marvels on Disney + dropped on 07FEB24 - HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Wow what a surprise this was a great sequel to Captain Marvel. A great addition to the Marvel Universe and Marvel Studios.
Marvel lost it's way a bit as did the character of Nick Fury. There was this great sense of fun and humor as well as dreadful life threatening events.
Goods for families and for fans.

We watched A MAN CALLED OVE the other night. This was the original movie in Swedish, with subtitles, and not the later film with Tom Hanks. I'd read the book a while back and this was a wonderful movie. All the actors were terrific, but the actor who played younger Ove, was particularly marvelous, in my opinion. He's exactly how I pictured him while reading the novel.

They're remaking "Another Round" and that movie isn't even five years old. People need to learn how to read subtitles, because they're missing out on some great films.

I started watching films with subtitles when VHS tapes first came out. I would go hit the foreign film section of Blockbuster and grab a few. Subtitles never bothered me. Heck, I use them even on English language movies and TV shows.

I was so excited to watch Wonka and was underwhelmed. Maybe I was expecting it to be more like the Gene Wilder movie? Maybe I missed him and the kids? I do like that they threw in things from that movie but overall, it was okay.

Swiss Army Man: This movie was weird as hell but also strangely endearing? Daniel Radcliffe has definitely made some diverse choices in his career post Harry Potter, and good for him. After I discovered it was a Daniels production suddenly it all made sense; they're known for absurd humor in their films (Everything Everywhere All At Once).

After I discovered it was a Daniels production suddenly it all made sense; they're known for absurd humor in their films (Everything Everywhere All At Once). He has had an interesting career. And I agree, good for him. He could have coasted on Harry Potter but likes to do offbeat things.

I agree! That movie was super wild and immensely enjoyable, and has enough elements in it to please horror fans without immense amounts of gore.

Watched Poor Things last night. I didn't think my husband would like it but he enjoyed it. Yes, it was a bizarre movie but there were very clear messages in it about women and how we are expected to "behave", especially during that time period. Bella achieved autonomy over her body but most importantly her mind. And the movie was not only stunning to watch but had dashes of humor and irony. Emma Stone was amazing. I forgot I was watching her. She was Bella. And Mark Ruffalo in a real departure role from his usual work. He was slimy.

The Road House remake was...okay. The script and storyline were lacking, but the fight scenes were fun and Gyllenhaal did a good job. Conor McGregor was over the top.

While I enjoyed Emma in Poor Things I watched Anatomy Of A Fall Last night and Sandra Huller was amazing in it. I've liked her ever since I saw Toni Erdmann, but her performance in AOAF was next level. Both she and Lily Gladstone were robbed of that Oscar. And while we're on the subject, the dog deserved an Oscar as well, lol.

MFWalkoff ... for some reason about 2 weeks ago I saw BREAKFAST CLUB pop up on either SHO or HBO and I watched it all ..... MEMORIES for sure. I think the last time I watched it was in 1984. Or 1985? I sooooo remember my HS days and my HS had every one of those kids that were in Breakfast Club.

If she would have gotten that nomination, she would have been a sure thing. I haven't seen the movie. I had a hold on the blu-ray at the library and the studio decided to make it streaming only. I'm not paying to see it. If it comes out, I'll see it. We had a lot of confused and angry patrons over this.
