I can understand letters asking for leniency if this was a case of a woman who killed her husband after years of abuse who was currently under threat. I cannot understand it in cases where someone did horrible things to others but don't want to be accountable. I hope this woman gets years.

So she's a good mother, what difference does that make, if she's scamming pensioners.

So it isn't only on the show. In jail she can dry out, she really needs it.

Next week is the finale, but are we seeing Shah coming out of court? Heather give it up with the black eye either say who it is, or stop talking about it.

Heather annoyed me in the latest episode...her passive aggressive responses regarding the black eye. I wanna shake her sometimes. She is terrified of Shah..

Shah drunk is a crazy woman, but I'm sure Heather could take her on sober. Unless she has something on Heather, which I doubt, she'd have used it by now.

Ok this is going wayyyyyyyy out on a limb but one of my DIL's said she read on some RH blog (to those who saw the late night video of the ladies going in and out of Heather's room) that many think Heather was so drunk that she actually FELL on those artificial plants that were in vases right as you walk into Heather's room AND one or several of them POKED her eye badly. Kar, when she opened the door, there was somebody there, I rewound it twice, I saw blond, but then they all had those awful wigs on. I can only think of one person who would do that, on purpose or by accident. JS!!

I know if someone blackened my eye I'd tell everyone. I wonder if the Bravo execs asked her to keep quiet, because if it's released that they got drunk on Bravos dime and Shah decked her it's a bad look for everyone.

I could see that happening. I know people that have gotten super drunk and given themselves a black eye by falling down.

Following the trial now and her lawyers are honestly arguing that since she didn't personally know or talk to any of the senior citizens she shouldn't get any blame? What the hell type of lawyers are these? The judge is very much not here for this nonsense so things are looking bad for Jen, good for humanity.
edit: Judge is now commenting on her lack of remorse, flaunting her possessions that she got by scamming folks, and other things; he is not impressed AT ALL.

Jens best bet here is to show remorse and admit whatever her role and true awareness of the facts of her “business” was.
Her actions seem awful but maybe she can make restitution if she’s not in prison forever. I may be wrong but given that she didn’t commit a violent crime and has no prior criminal record — if she were remorseful I would think leniency would be appropriate.
Our society seems so vengeful—are we all such hanging judges? Not being a lovely kind generous person isn’t against the law — so it really shouldn’t be a reason to throw her into a prison cell and throw away the key. The fact that she’s mean or ill tempered isn’t the point.
Also as an aside I think heather was so drunk she fell into a bramble bush — or a bed post—somewhere and is trying to get some sympathy and extra screen time out of it

The point is, she scammed seniors of their savings. I am a senior, and I would want some of my money back.!!!! But she spent it on her lifestyle, clothes, parties, of course they are vengeful.

From the TMZ article above. "Jen Shah was just sentenced to 6.5 years behind bars as well as 5 years supervised release. She got emotional in court, sobbing, and telling everyone she was deeply sorry for what she had done ... saying, 'with the proper medication I can now see what happened.'" What??? So she's blaming her scamming of these people on some sort of medical condition that gave her no conscience? Okay! cavendish, I think you might need to consider a different definition of violent crime. If you take a retiree's entire life savings, and they can no longer take care of their most basic physical or medical needs, that is a form of violence. Living on just social security these days isn't really doable, and the stress that comes from not being able to afford medication or food or whatever is very traumatic. Just because she didn't hit someone over the head and cause damage that way doesn't mean she didn’t cause severe damage.

6.5 eh? Glad it wasn't a smaller sentence but was secretly wishing it was more.... Blaming medication? Girl bye! Hope you look good in orange, buttercup! Byeeeeeeeeee New York City resident Carolyn Ramella and Minnesotan Lauren Payehouse both said Shah got off light. "I thought her sentence was going to be way higher, closer to 10 years," said Payehouse, 32. "I think the court sympathized with her because she was a mother and a wife."

I wished it had been a longer sentence as well but we can be happy she also is facing 5 YEARS OF SUPERVISED RELEASE. "Supervised release occurs post-imprisonment and is limited to a set term of years (such as 3 or 5 years).
It doesn't take the place of prison time.
Rather, it's a period of oversight that the defendant must serve after completing their prison sentence.
Parole is a form of early, conditional release from prison."
"Supervised release, unlike parole, is not a type of early release, and it does not occur in exchange for remaining prison time.
Instead, it is the time after a person completes the terms of a prison sentence that must be spent under supervision.
It is sometimes known as special parole or mandatory parole."

I wasn’t suggesting that scamming people of their savings wasn’t reprehensible or that Jen shouldn’t be appropriately sentenced for that. 6 1/2 years seems lenient to me. But it also seems like a very significant sentence. I wouldn’t underestimate the trauma of being deprived of your freedom, of control of your time, your companions, of seeing your loved ones — of all the things that make life meaningful.
There are guidelines for sentencing taking into account relevant factors and attempting to make the sentence proportionate to the crime. I don’t know the facts of how many people were victimized — but I’m sure that’s taken into account In determining length. Of time.
I don’t have any particular sympathy for Jen per se ,or in any way want to minimize what she did. Buit it also strikes me that this she’s going to pay insofar as one can for what she did
I guess what I think is that there’s no way for her to redress the harm because vindicating the victims is in many ways impossible. So society does the best it can without losing a sense of justice.

cavendish , did you watch the past two seasons of SLC? Jen did nothing but scream at everyone how INNOCENT she was over and over again. All the ladies had tons of sympathy for her. They included her in every outing they had to help take her mind off all that she was accused of. They constantly on a regular basis called her. They checked in with her often to make sure she was ok. All the while Jen is crying to everyone how innocent she is and how wrong all this was while crying and crying. AND THEN ....... her partner came forward to Law Enforcement to tell them all the SCAMMING Jen Shah was doing to Seniors on a regular basis. Not only scamming them ........ but lying to them and selling FAKE not designer items FAKE items to them. DESPICABLE. Because filming of the show was behind the current time, the ladies were not aware at all that Jen was GUILTY. After this season was over filming the ladies eventually found out she was GUILTY. Now it comes time for the REUNION show which has not even taped yet BUT you can bet JEN SHAH wants NOTHING to do with the REUNION show so she told BRAVO she will not attend the REUNION show ......... hmmmm I wonder why Jen??????? Can't face the ladies who supported you for the last 2 years????? I wish she had gotten 10 years IN JAIL. But I am happy with the 6.5 years in JAIL and the 5 years of SUPERVISED RELEASE. It's almost like she got 11.5 years.

This harridan threw a party for herself and 20 friends last night in NYC at Valbella at the Park. That is not...an inexpensive restaurant. Reports say they ate, drank, and partied. Who is paying for this? Also, way to go to show you're not remotely remorseful. I hope they beat her with bars of soap placed in socks in prison!

Here is the actual sentence, 78 months plus $6,646,251 in restitution plus $6,500,000 in forfeiture. Shah wanted Texas so she can do a drug program and knock off another 12 months. Govt wanted 120, probation less than 78, Shah wanted 36 mos. #shahfraud
