There Is Only One You - The designers are given a chance to think about their family history and channel those stories and emotions into a look of their choosing. Luckily, there's a surprise early on that will help boost their chances for success in the challenge.
Enjoy the show!

Dae Yin’s top and skirt, although both are pretty, don’t go with each other as one of the judges said.

I loved the varsity jacket. I can see it being bought by everybody. I would be shocked if I don’t see it up and down the street at least by this fall.

For once I liked a lot of what went down the runway! There were some really great looks tonight. I like Victoria, but the judges are biased and it's not a good look. Happy for Chelsea. So sorry for Shavi. What a sweet man.
Really, really tired of it being the Sergio show. Getting other people's models to help him embroider was not a good look, and then he lied to the judges about it. Ugh.

I feel horrible for thinking that Sergio might have been fake crying on the runway. I'm so tired of him. Being too much of a villain can ruin the show.

It frustrates me that they continue to insist this show has to be an hour and a half long ... they can fit all the relevant parts in to an hour. I started watching it last night, but could not stay up late enough to watch all of it. Then I watched WWHL this morning (My choice - I know the risk of spoilers!) and know who was sent home. I'll still watch the rest, and in some ways I enjoy knowing the end before I watch it because then I pick up on the story of what went wrong better. But it does annoy me that they will go with so much filler to stroke the ego of wanting to be longer than an hour.

Sergio was a simpering mess as was his statement dress. Lovely to honor the children who have died, but patronizing the models in the way he asked them to help embroider the names was so off-putting. When he didn't acknowledge their work on the runway, he was being his entitled self (('m entitled to help because I have a passionate cause and you are a model and less than me). Crocodile tears? Hmmm...at least he got to Nancy. I loved DaYoung's look, but agree with the guest judge that the skirt in a different shade/material didn't belong. If she were to use that shade and material, pants would have worked better; otherwise use the jacket material for the skirt. Congratulations to Chelsea! I would so wear that jacket and I'm waaayyy beyond the "appropriate" age group. It looks so comfortable and the material luxurious. Delvin's meltdown was fascinating, but happy he stayed. Shavi had been in the bottom before and this was his time. I couldn't believe they left in him sewing on the model's butt, not once, but numerous times. How disrespectful even if he did apologize. I think, though, he was apologizing for the bad garment rathe than touching her butt with hand and needle. Good show. Wonder who won the flash sale...guess I'll have to go to Bravo to look

I knew that the focus of the person who did it was making the dress (and me in it) look perfect - no interest in me, just the presentation. I think that to a degree, it's par for the course in modelling. In my experience, it was far more of a clinical nature - kind of like a dermatologist checking my body for moles ... only my body was covered in a dress.

If I had to pick a winner that wasn't top 3 it would have been Marquise. The way he took his family's tradition of quilting and designed such a chic, lovely outfit with a color-blocked top within the time constraints was incredible.

I feel horrible for thinking that Sergio might have been fake crying on the runway. I'm so tired of him. Being too much of a villain can ruin the show.
I don't think he was fake; however, this was not the appropriate time to talk about a serious political issue. Nina was right. This is a fashion show, not CNN. In a way it was selfish of him, because it was an attempt to dominate the runway with his own pet cause. There are a million ways he could have celebrated his Hispanic heritage without politicizing it.
Poor Shavi. I must say, though, that he had this cool story to work with (great-aunt dancing at the legendary Cotton Club), and that's all that he could come up with? I was so disappointed.
So, who is going to be worthy of the Siriano Save? Any speculations yet?
Daeyoung's outfit was gorgeous, but the jacket didn't match the skirt. I was surprised the judges didn't point that out. If it hadn't of been for that I would have given her the win.
Victoria's outfit looked like something that flight attendant from 2001: A Spacy Odyssey could have worn. The fact that the judges would put that in the top clearly shows how they are biased. I feel sympathy for the other designers. Chelsey was the only who truly deserved to win.

Totally putting aside the bias of bringing up dead kids, I have to say that the red dress sergio put out was second in ugliness to last week's mess. What were all those white things hanging off the hem?
If I thought he was sincere about any of the causes, I might have a better opinion of him, but I do not think he is. I feel it is ALL an act.
Actually, I liked Victoria's outfit if it was in a dark color---navy blue would be more striking than black--- in my opinion. Any jewel tone would be better than a pastel.

Ooooh LOTS of opinions on this show!
Sergio - Seeing how this is an opinion on fashion forum (THANKFULLY!) I will stay quiet regarding his "cause". But I find him to be a conundrum; he supposedly has such "compassion" for people he doesn't know, yet he treats those around him with rudeness and arrogance. He has such an "I am better than anyone" attitude. And with that getup he created for this episode, I am not sure of what he is arrogant about.
Victoria - The judges are right; she can sew. I like most of her clothes, and this outfit looked great on this model, but I can't imagine it on anyone 1 pound heavier. Victoria should remember that the only thing more annoying for the other contestants than being on top every week, is saying that you feel guilty for it. (please....) Geoffrey - I like his clothes; always well made. This outfit looked a bit too much like previous ones, but I would love to wear it. With each passing week I like Geoffrey's personality more and more. He seems like a man of common sense, and has a great sense of wry humor.
Shavi - I liked him a lot, but frankly, this dress was poorly made, and he knew it. The judges were right to eliminate him for this entry.
Dayoung - Loved the jacket/top. And I agree with the judges that if it had been paired with some great fitting pants and some DIFFERENT shoes (the ones she picked didn't go at all), she had more of a chance of winning. Another jacket I would love to have in my own closet.
Delvin - Had a bad week, and he knows it. Maybe it was what he needed to humble him a bit.
And, I was surprised that Brittany and Geoffrey were both "just safe". I thought both of their outfits were great and well made, each with interesting stories. Glad Chelsey won. It was her time, and well deserved.
UGH... how much more of Sergio will we have to endure? Last night's performance was hard to take. And I love that watching a show like PR is a (usually) delightful break from politics!

What was interesting was how Sergio was able to instantly turn off the water works once they started criticizing his look. It's possible that there may have been some editing and maybe they took a moment for him, but the conversation seemed pretty seamless in the episode.
I feel bad seeming so cynical about it when I feel as strongly about the cause as he said he does, and I don't doubt he believes he felt that way. But overall, from watching the show I find that his mind is just plain hooked up is a strange way. He feels justified in his attitudes, which are unprecedented for a PR designer. Unfortunately, that attitude puts everything he says and does into question.

Great observation about Sergio! I hadn't even thought about that. And good point, MF, about him suddenly dropping the tears when the judges didn't embrace him. I don't know; I'm starting to think he may have been cynically trying to manipulate them into letting him win just because of his issue. Now I dislike him even more. And yes, I watch shows like this to get away from politics, too!
Victoria is very talented. I think she should be in the final. I just didn't like this week's outfit, and even she has admitted last week's outfit was just a reworked version of the other designs she's made for the show. I thought about the weight issue, too, when the model came down the runway. Only a stick-think 20-year-old could wear that outfit. I doubt the public will vote for it as their favorite.
Either Brittany or Geoffrey should have been in the top instead of Victoria. They were right to criticize the judges for being biased.
I'm glad they didn't send Delvin home. He's also very talented. Hopefully this week will wake him up so he'll take the attitude down a bit.
I loved Daeyoung's top and would love to own it.

Shavi's inability to assess his fabric was surprising....I would think that would be second nature to a designer....then when he realized that he needed a lining, he had nothing but muslin....like that would fit so well under a thin material.
I would think with all their money, they would buy extra---"just in case" yet so many of them have that problem of running out of fabric.

I couldn't keep a straight face last night when Sergio said "My work is political!" I know artists, designers (both fashion and graphic) etc., who work actually IS political and it's a running theme throughout their work and is either subtle (like the materials they use) or loud (the message). I would have believed it more if he said that from the very first day. It seemed like he thought that the things his family was telling him about their history wasn't interesting enough for him so he decided to go this route (which made me dislike him even more). Don't use the deaths of children for your own gain.
I was also glad that the two Hispanic people on the panel saw right through that and let him him have it. You know, because, as he said earlier "only a Latino can relate to this work" as an excuse for not showing it to Christian, but somehow accepted hugs from Nancy who got it (despite not being Hispanic) and talked to her about the design. I want his Charlie Brown looking [redacted] off my television but he is digging a hole for himself; the longer he is there the longer he assures that people are NOT going to go to him to design anything after the show.

Remember how Alan would mention that his family was torn apart when his father got deported? And that he himself was a Dreamer and so somewhat worried about his status? Where was Sergio during all this? Why wasn't he spouting off about immigration before this? No, he only does it when he thinks it will help him win a challenge. The more I think about it, the more ticked off I am. Yes, maybe Alan deserved to go that particular week. He was such a sweet person, though, and brought such joy to the show and his fellow designers. ("Put a little twirl in it!") I would much rather see him still on the show than Sergio.

I do have a comment in general about last night, although it did involve Sergio.
Is is really ok to have the models help with the work? I know it is ok for one of the other designers help out, because they would be volunteering to do so. That has happened on all seasons, but it has been in the true spirit of wanting to help out a fellow designer, and no one was forced. Last night Sergio gave his model "the assignment", and she didn't look too pleased about it. Can't blame her.
So, was that really ok? I wouldn't think so. The designers are given a certain amount of time to complete a project. With such constraints on all of them, it didn't seem fair to me.

justmythoughts it's not the first time a model has helped, but it may be the first time multiple models were. I hope Sergio leaves soon. I don't like his personality, or most of his clothes. The weird thing is that he could have made a completely beautiful dress out of cotton as a tribute to his grandfather. It didn't need to be political. Even if the cause is good, I just want a fashion show. I thought his tears on the runway were fake, especially when he was crying on his model's shoulder. The judges do seem to be biased with Victoria. I liked DaYoung's top, but not her skirt, I agree wth whatever judge said it should have been pants (although it was only a one day challenge.) I was happy with Chelsey's win. What a cute idea. I loved her big flowy coat.

His fashion is political? Since when? What were the political statements in his other outfits?
Nancy... really??? You thought his dress was beautiful? Sergio's outfit was unflattering, unattractive, and failed to tell the story of those children who died, IMO. I think Sergio is a tad egotistical, and I don't get his fashion. I actually preferred some of the safe designers more than the top designers this week... especially Marquis and Brittany. Victoria's look was OK.... but I don't see why it was on the top. Good for Chelsey!

I usually quit listening every time he brings up a cause.
