I just saw a preview for The Gilded Age, by the creator of Downton Abbey. This may actually entice me to sign up for HBO MAX! I didn't even realize it had come so far, because last I heard production was held up, for a variety of reasons. I wonder how many episodes it will be?

I think I am going to like it. There are some similarities to Downton Abbey, primarily with the way the households are run and the staff hierarchy, but the storylines are not very similar. That is a good thing

Sex Lives of College Girls – 30 min 10 ep series. Season 2 confirmed. Four roommates navigate their new freedom on the prestigious campus of Essex College. Created by Mindy Kaling, this is a raunchy, funny, touching binge worthy comedy that sucked me in. Made for Love – 8 ep series Season 2 premieres April. A woman is on the run after 10 years in a suffocating marriage to a tech billionaire, who has implanted a monitoring device in her brain, allowing him to track her, watch her and know her "emotional data" as she tries to regain her independence. This might be a love or leave it watch for some. I found it funny, twisted, and sweet. Starstruck – 6 ep comedy series Season 2 premieres in Feb. Created/written/starring a woman juggling dead end jobs who meets a famous film star. Despite being complete opposites fate keeps bringing them back together. Press play and give it a go. It was a good watch. Frayed – 2 season series. A wealthy housewife is forced to return to her hometown after her husbands dies and not a penny to her name. A hilarious show that takes an unexpected turn! It’s a Sin – Miniseries. A group of young men begin new lives in 1981 London, but they find themselves challenged by HIV virus that most of the world ignores. Wow what a great series. I fell in love with all the characters. One of the best show I watched in 2021.

What a great CAST!!!
Some interesting cast facts:
The young lady playing Gladys Russell is Taissa Farmiga, the little sister of actress Vera Farmiga that is in so many films and series.
The lady playing Marian Brook is Louisa Jacobsen (Gummer) and she is Meryl Streep's daughter.

Started watching Euphoria and woooooooow; it's a lot. With that said, I love Jules. She reminds me so much of me during HS and I wonder where that person went. I also like Fez the drug dealer, lol. Can't stand Nate or his horrible Daddy.

And Just Like That - I just do not like New Miranda. Poor Steve, I wanted to hug the guy through the tv. He deserves better. Nice scene with Carrie and the teacher, though, that was well done. The tampon stuff was ridiculous.
I think the season finale is next week, and I won't really miss this if it doesn't come back. With Samantha gone, Anthony is the only one left that brings any humor to the show. And we don't get enough Anthony.
I need to check out The Gilded Age. Sounds good...

While I'm enjoying the later episodes I have to admit that this was a missed opportunity to showcase a couple who has come to an "agreement" in their relationship. If they wrote Miranda decently this could have been the opportunity to show someone having the best of both worlds and instead she's being THAT person. I liked the scene in the bathroom between Carrie and Steve that showed that they are essentially at the same place.

I'm also iffy on And Just Like That, but I'm so hooked on the characters I'll keep watching it, good or bad.
The Gilded Age will probably take a few episodes to find its stride. They packed so much exposition in the premiere (and it's sooooo long) that I won't judge it by the first episode only.

I liked And Just Like That. Started kinda slow but ended good making me want more. Even though it’s crappy what Miranda did to Steve I’m kinda rooting for her and Che. Not sure what Kristin Davis did to herself but she looks bad. At least SJP is aging gracefully.

The finale for And Just Like That was okay...I still don't like what Miranda did. #JusticeForSteve Loved Carrie in her dress in Paris, that was nice. I really thought at the very beginning when they were talking about the worst way to break up, they'd have Carrie bring up Berger's Post-It note from the original series. Sigh. I haven't seen if they're going to do another season, but since we can't have Samantha back, I need more Anthony if they do.

It had some bumps, but overall I really liked "And Just Like That." I've seen a lot of posts elsewhere that were like "I can't stand AJLT, but I'd watch it every day if it were on! Che is a mess but I want 17 more seasons!" They had to deal with Stanford dying in the middle of filming and awkwardly had to write out a character related to his storyline as well as the whole "Stanford left me" thing. I think they also got in some POC writers at the halfway point because Seema, LTW, and Nya became more fleshed out characters than just random POCs thrown in; the friendship between Seema and Carrie is especially organic and it's interesting how both Nya and Miranda are both at crossroads in their lives for different reasons. I want....better writing for Miranda next season because everything is terrible. You could either see it as someone letting lose in their life for the first time and being ruled by their emotions instead of their head or someone making foolish mistakes, and giving up a prestigious internship to follow your GF around for a month in LA is dumb as hell. It also doesn't help that Che has extreme "fuc boi" vibes and isn't nearly into Miranda as she is into her. Best scene of the finale: Carrie on that bridge in Paris wearing a princess dress dumping Big's ashes out of her Eiffel Tower bag like "Out, damned spot!" I want more seasons with all of these ladies both old and new.

Binged And Just Like That. It wasn't as terrible as headlines and daytime tv made it out to be. Agree with everyone on Miranda! Not of a fan of that execution. #JusticeForSteve I'm mostly annoyed Che/Sara Ramirez made us suffer through being a terrible comedian. The fake sets did not need that much airtime. It was a relief when Miranda's hair was back to red. IDK if it was the lighting but one minute it looked white, gray, bleached blonde, and even purple. I also felt like Kristin Davis' filler was settling in more towards the end of the season. The only new character that made sense was Seema. Sarita Choudhury was great! Needed more of her. I still stay glued to the tv when Carrie is on the screen. SJP still does her right and I got the feels with Big, teacher guy, and the hot producer at the end. It definitely made me want more. I'll take another season!

I used to LOVE Miranda and they ruined her. That scene with him and Carrie where he talked about never taking off his wedding ring had me in tears. He is far too good for Miranda. She acted like a selfish jerk. I was embarrassed for her through most of the season.
Is putting in a tampon that difficult for everyone else? I didn't get the fuss. Heck, there's a freaking diagram in the box! Look at it!
I'd be down for another season, but with Seema, Dr. Nya and Lisa Todd Wexley. They were much more interesting than the original three.
I did like the finale. I thought it was better than most of the previous episodes.
I love Sara Ramirez, but I hated Che. Why did all of the characters think she's so hilarious? There are queer stand-ups out there who are SO funny, but she definitely wasn't. Loved hearing SR sing, but the "comedy" was lame.
I'm behind on The Gilded Age, kind of because I'm trying to make it last longer. It's heaven. That's literally my favorite period in history and the cast is fantastic.

I still binge Downton Abbey repeatedly, so I'm familiar with Julian Fellowes' writing styles (and his weaknesses). I'm coming to the conclusion that Fellowes should stick to British settings and characters, because I'm finding The Gilded Age to be less interesting. I feel like Fellowes is following a cookie-cutter formula from Downton. The problem is, instead of getting to know only one family, we have to get to know an entire city of characters, and none of them are really given enough screen time to show much depth or make me feel empathy or understanding for them. And don't get me wrong, I'm a Broadway freak so I LOVE this cast. I've seen many of them in Broadway shows. But everything just feels kind of stiff to me so far. The production values are excellent (better than Downton's) but the characters aren't competing well with the lavish sets and locations they are put in front of. I get the dynamics of the social structure in turn-of-the-century NY, but so much of the show's dialgue consists of the characters just explaining and re-explaining what the conflicts are due to the rules of society. There needs to be more action and less exposition. With Downton, we had a dead Turkish diplomat in Mary's bed by episode two! With The Gilded Age, they recreate a massive train wreck, but then the characters merely stand in front of it and talk. I so want this show to be great, and I'll watch it whether it gets better or not, but I have to admit that so far, I'm slightly disappointed.

As a kid away at summer camp I remember being internally as terrified as Lily. The nurse on the other side of the door and directions that might as well have been in another language. I won't even finish this story.

The Girl Before: 4 epi series. Jane moves into a beautiful minimalist home designed by an architect named Edward. Jane must adhere to peculiar house rules as stipulated by David, but a shocking discovery about the prior tenant creates an unnerving atmosphere causing Jane to question her fate. Great cast and nice thriller. For 4 episodes, it can be a complex story that you will have to pay attention to since it weeds back and forth between past/present and character perspectives. I'd recommend.
