I've seen one item( not blind) that said they thought Colton was gay and why, and I laughed. There would be quite a few men (not gay) that fit the bill if that was the case...

This is all so weird with this show. First all this nonsense with RW not being able to TALK about what happened to her. Like WHAT does Showtime or whoever have a GAG order on her. I was totally blindsided watching her die this season...........whatttttttt did not see that coming at all and then we all find out she left the show. AND no one will or is allowed to discuss it. Now Cole is leaving.

How can it continue without these 2 main characters? Is it just completely over?
Or will Noah and Helen get back together following the deaths of their subsequent spouses?!

They've got a new affair to follow the consequences for now. I think the main focus of the last season will be Helen dealing with her neighbor having her dead husband's baby. I think Noah will become a support system for her going through that. And it would not surprise me at all if that leads Helen and Noah back to each other realizing they were better off before all the cheating mess began.

The showrunner said she always had a plan for just 5 seasons. Although I can't imagine killing off Ruth Wilson or losing Cole fell into that plan... I am holding out hope the story wraps up well.

Right around the time JJ announced he'd be leaving the show, there were some rumors that HE is the reason Ruth left the show. If it's a #MeToo situation, I wish someone would spill the tea and out him. NO abuser (even ones whose work I enjoy) deserve to NOT be named and publicly shamed.

That one makes sense! Without Cole, what would there be for her?

Extremely weird! IDK how I feel about a time jump and Sierra and Janelle sticking around another season. I thought they would do a final season revamp. I feel like we already know Allison was killed and who did it. So do we really need to watch her daughter investigate? I'm probably expecting too much. I guess I figure nothing will live up to Season 1&2.

I watched the first half, but ran out of time for the second half (it's very tough having this and Succession airing at the same time!). I liked what i saw so far, but stopped just when they started the Anna Paquin part. I'm not sure what i"m going to think of that, but will wait to watch before I judge!

I can't wait until you watch it!!!! I've been a little hot and cold with this season - some episodes thinking it's why I loved this show to start, and others just feeling like "who cares, glad it's almost over". I'm not spoiling anything because it's in the episode description to say that the Vanity Fair article that has been a plotline comes out, and the episode is about the aftermath. There are a lot of sides to the whole thing, and a lot to make you think with the show, and with real life. I thought it was so good that when I got up this morning, my mind quickly went back to it.
Now I've probably built it up for you too much - but i hope not!

For some reason I thought it was the finale this week. An episode not only timely with #MeToo but with the fires and happening right now right outside of LA. Yikes. A family explodes and/or implodes. Whitney, OMG, watching her father look at women like they are prey. OMG. Helen getting fired but still defending Noah. Sasha and Furkat both being a dirtbags, Noah confronting Eden at the book signing. Trevor getting beaten up at school by his friend. Stacy, so emotional reading about her father taking Erica's clothes, a party Stacy took Noah too. Sierra taking Eddie to Vic's parents home. Busy Philipps interviewing Eden. Colin's portrait of Whitney was AMAZING. It was a riveting episode.

You summed it up pretty well! After the first half, I was initially disappointed that Whitney was the second half thinking it would just be a recap of what we'd seen. But seeing her go through the evolution from "this can't possibly be true about my dad" to realizing it was - it was done so incredibly well! In her confrontation on the plane, you could watch the shift happening on her face. It was also fascinating to me that she was able to evolve to see Noah that way, while Helen after all she's gone through with him was unable to. I was a little surprised that in this era, they went down the road of the accusations coming from a place of a spiteful vengeful actor motivated by getting more fame and credit for himself. With that, at times it seemed like they were writing the episode as the anti-MeToo. But as they'd drive up to the edge of that, then they'd swerve away and show the counter to that argument. It has not been obvious throughout the series (and quite honestly, this is the reason why I was not a huge fan of the way it veered off course to tell so much of Alison's story ... but in this episode, the reasons on both sides for the failure of Noah and Helen's marriage really came to a head. Noah was really shown to be self absorbed and see women as something he could conquest - showing that he was far more open to cheating with Alison than he'd ever really owned up to. And Helen was shown to be a people pleaser who will avoid confrontation and sacrifice herself to a degree that is no longer noble, but self destructive. The elements were there from the beginning, even if we didn't see them in the fog of what seemed like a happy marriage.

The elements were there from the beginning, even if we didn't see them in the fog of what seemed like a happy marriage.Your post was perfectly stated, acookertv .... ESP your analysis of Noah and Helen and their personalities. We were not long into the first episode of the first season that the family goes to Montauk for their summer vacation and very soon Noah is making eyes at Alison. What we did not know as viewers is Noah's backstory which would be that "he is self absorbed and sees women as something he could conquest". (As you stated). And Sunday night it all came out. SIX WOMEN coming forward. Helen's parents esp her Mom was the reason Helen was a " people pleaser" .... her Mom spent all her time being such a negative person. I think Helen saw that growing up and felt she had no choice but first and foremost to please her Mom (so her Mom would be happy) and then everyone else in her life as well. I mean even coming forward to now .... Helen's relationship with Vic's Mom was not the best .... Vic's Mom did not appear to like Helen but Helen tried hard (even if Helen thought she did not deserve it ) to like Vic's Mom. So again Helen is the people pleaser. I want to add the acting by everyone was exceptional. I was especially moved by Stacy and Whitney.
