I'm curious to see what happens long range in the fall out from all of this, because it does seem like there are some big liability issues. Hannah is playing nicely while standing up for herself, but they really did go after her reputation. I thought it said a lot that she commented they should have fired her for her table decor instead of making her out as unstable. So after all of this, will Capt Sandy be back as captain because she creates good ratings, or will she be replaced because she can't run a boat? Will Bravo face consequences for portraying anxiety and medicating for it as something so crippling? I've been touched by some of the comments I've read from people who suffer from anxiety who are rightfully really taking issue with the way it's been shown.

I have never been a huge Hannah fan but this was just too much. Who nominated Malia to go & search through Hannah's personal property without her consent or her being present during it. It might be "maritime law" but Hannah still has rights. Her rights were violated plus then Sandy discussing Hannah's medical issue with the crew & Bravo cameras! WTH!!!
As someone who does suffer from anxiety, I can relate. So suppose Hannah needed her medication i the middle of the night, is Dr Sandy going to physically hand her the medication? Would Sandy have to call a doctor/healthcare worker, who never met Hannah, to ask if it was okey dookie to give Hannah her medication?
Benedryl is much different from valium.
Showing this is making Sandy, Malia & Bravo look incredibly inane, malicious, callous, disrespectful & complicit.

Showing this is making Sandy, Malia & Bravo look incredibly inane, malicious, callous, disrespectful & complicit. In fairness to Sandy, since Hannah chose to share he struggle with anxiety on camera, I think things are a bit different in terms of privacy violation. I look at that as being similar to if an employee is fighting cancer and tells her manager, the manager is obligated to keep that confidential. But if that employee shares with the entire team that she's got cancer, the manager is not expected to deny it. It should not be gossiped about nor should any details the employee has not shared openly be shared. But the presence of the Bravo cameras changes some of the privacy expectations. You are totally right about the notion Sandy and Malia were trying to present of the captain dispensing all medications. In the Reddit from Adrienne that Beerbelly shared, Adrienne talks about how she has a shellfish allergy and carries an epi-pen because of it. Under the protocol that Malia was pushing, if Adrienne accidentally consumed shellfish and the captain was on a break off the yacht, she could die waiting for the captain to get back to unlock her epi-pen. I had the same question with regards to daily medications that people take. Would a diabetic have to go to a captain to get insulin? Would a woman on birth control pills have to find the captain every day to to get her pill? The more I read on this, the more I'm convinced that TECHNICALLY Hannah may have violated the rules - but every rule violation does not result in termination, and if the rules are not applied consistently, chaos ensues. Sandy's biggest mistake with this and several other things this season is that she's reacted and made decisions on gossip and hearsay. When there were issues between Hannah and the first stew who left, Sandy should have sat down to listen to Hanna's issues, then listened to the stew's defense, and then brought the two of them together. With the issue with the rooms, Sandy should not have made a decision after hearing from Malia. She should have talked to Hannah to understand her side and then made a decision - not just because Hannah had a perspective but also because she'd put Hannah in charge of room assignments. Sandy cares more about being liked than she does doing what is right.

First off...I'm kinda glad that Hannah didn't have to deal with the new charter guests, what a bunch of donkeys. Can you imagine what Sandy and Bug would have had to say? They would have second guessed everything Hannah did. Didn't Sandy look a bit silly when the guests asked if she had tasted the NEW chefs food? She should have just said "you are in for a treat, he was trained by Gordon Ramsey"
I'm still so bothered by the past three episodes. I admit I have never liked Malia, Bugs or Sandy...so my bias is real lol Sandy fully embraced the opportunity to sack Hannah. When she called David (?) to witness her addressing the "drugs" accusation with Hannah she was playing it up for the cameras..."I need you here to witness, we're going to do this by the book ect" The fact that Sandy and Malia consistently phrased it as "drugs" would make someone think that Hannah was using heroin or meth. It was prescribed valium. Should Hannah have followed protocol...absolutely but the constant usage of "drugs" was very much on purpose. Sandy also fumbled her "by the book" firing by not going with Hannah to retrieve the valium/prescription. Sandy's "she may flush it" was over the top. Hannah didn't seem very panicked/ashamed of her prescribed medicine. Sandy following Hannah to the dock was an attempt to look good for the "show", that she was a put in a position where she had no choice but to fire Hannah but she really is an empathetic Captain just following "maritime law". I like that Hannah was having none of Sandy's I really care about you bullsh!t and I like that Sandy's facade was exposed. When Sandy and Malia had a brief meeting you could tell their "well...we're just doing this because we can't have a crew member on drugs" was their way of mutually excusing their behaviour...patting each other on the back for how moral they were. Malia act in front of Hannah that she didn't know what was going on was weak and again good for Hannah for not putting up with it. Malia gossiping around the mess with the other crew members was slimy. She should have just stated that it was between Cpt Sandy and Hannah. Sandy and Malia's sanctimonious monologues were self-serving. But hey...hopefully we get to see Tom Terrific crash and burn and Bugsy is exposed as not as great Chief Stew as she always claims to be.

You bring up a great point downsey! (And hello and welcome!) That when it comes to mental health, prescribed medications can be called 'drugs' when really it's medication. It really shows the bias that they had towards a member of the crew with anxiety, which is quite common.
And lol! I agree "what a bunch of donkeys"! Is right!

I’m very much on the fence about that Punkin. While this whole in was a mess Sandy has had a great relationship with bravo and they are certainly letting her have time to defend herself her. She’s also doing her part to promote Bravo. So it would not surprise me if they let her come back to have a redemption story. Especially since Hannah is standing up for herself but not blasting Bravo for how it went down.

I will admit, I watch a lot of Bravo. Does it do the right thing in terms of messaging, people, race, disability, etc.? Never. It's all for good tv. I bet we will see more of Sandy...

It was clear they didn't know what they were doing. The first mate (or whoever it was) was looking through a binder while Sandy was firing Hannah. He even read a few lines out of it...didn't he? It looked to me like they were scrambling and had no idea how to handle the situation ...they even had to look through some "rule book" to get answers. It was a disaster.
Great link btw...great read!

I was FLABBERGASTED at Malia calling Rob and Pete f@ckers! I was glad Rob said something too but I was even more FLABBERGASTED that Sandy didn't say anything to Malia about it! Boss or not you do not call your employees derogatory names!

Did you get the sense in the scene where Rob confronted Malia about it that Malia was unhappy with Sandy jumping in? It seemed that way to me.
I really like Rob. I think he does a really smart job of standing up for himself and showing Malia a lot of respect. When he thinks he's being treated unfairly, he speaks to her about it in a respectful way. He did it after Sandy called all of them in to correct all of them for Pete's behavior, and he did it here. He doesn't stew over things and he's not demanding. He's a grown up and it's refreshing.
It came across to me in that whole incident that Malia overreacted to that her entire motivation for wanting to rush through clean up was that she wanted to get into the kitchen to help Tom, and that's a problem. I'm really glad that we got a real couple working together on a yacht on Sailing Yacht before this to get an understanding of how a professional couple works together. Padget and Ciara were a couple in their cabin, but put all that aside on the deck when they were working. Malia is not doing the same with Tom. She's stepping on the interior crew's toes in all the ways she jumps in to assist in the kitchen. Yes, the deck crew needed to step in while they were down a steward - but it all should have been done as directed by Bugsy. Not Malia deciding what she wanted to do to help Tom.
I also have to add this episode really shone a light IMO on what a bone headed move it was to decide to edit Pete out of the show. There was clearly an issue and tension between him and Alex. But because of the decision to pretend he's not there, we got mention of it and knew it was relevant but didn't get to really understand it. I continue to wish that when his tweets came out Bravo would have just made a statement that they were not okay and that he'd never be asked back for another season of Below Deck. They're taking away from the show by trying to pretend he wasn't there when he was.

Maybe he did outright ignore her.. but calling them a derogatory name wasn't necessary. Malia needs to learn how to lead without resorting to that or running to Sandy. Sandy, of course, didn't bother to get the whole story and just blindly stuck up for Malia. I get backing your leads, but I kind of like it being done within reason. Sandy also doesn't back people up equally, so there's that problem. You all have discussed this already... makes for great tv, horrible life experience.

This was one case where I thought Sandy had a point - Malia had told them the slide was rolled up enough and to move on, and they did ignore her. So Sandy was right in saying that if you're given an order you need to follow it. However, to your point about her not getting the full story, she missed an opportunity to teach Malia about earning respect. Malia seems to think that merely being the Bosun she automatically gets respect. She doesn't seem to understand that the role gives her power, but how she uses that power will earn her respect.
I get that both Sandy and Malia are in tough spots being in a male dominated field and rising to the levels they have. Over the weekend I went back to watch season 2 which was Sandy's first season where, upon meeting Adam for the first time he asked if she was the first mate. When she told him that she was the Captain, his response to defend his mistake was "oh, I thought you were the chief stew". I'm willing to bet Sandy has faced that many times. So I get the challenges they face. But what I think they both miss out on is that getting respect in their roles comes from doing their jobs really well. Yes, people will expect less of them initially because they are women. But when they do the jobs great, people will get past that really fast. The lack of respect they get right now is not because they are women ... it's because they don't do their jobs well.

Malia calling the guys f&&kers was all kinds of wrong. As I watched that scene, I rewound it as it was confusing to me what exactly Malia wanted them to do. ROLL IT UP, UNROLL IT, COVER IT, UNROLL IT, UNCOVER IT, and on and on??? Huh??? I looked at Hubby and he said he thinks Malia wants them to just put it away. Ok I get that BUT to call them f&&kers.......whyyyyyy.......OH I KNOW, because Malia's TOM is OVERWHELMED. The lobster is not cooked, the chicken is not cooked and its all " bulls&&t" as TOM calls it. So because Tom is STRESSED (as Malia who has EXCLAIMED to all that her Tom is this AMAZING CHEF)..... Malia is now STRESSED out as well. Tom is not living up to Malia's ACCOLADES of his cooking. So Malia has become the person Tom is going to, to bit&h about every little thing in the kitchen that is wrong and about the guests not happy with his meals. I MISS KIKO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As far as Sandy.......she ABSOLUTELY heard the conversation that Rob had with Malia when he was bothered by HOW SHE REFERRED TO THEM. Totally INAPPROPRIATE by Malia to call them that and totally RUDE of Sandy not to speak to Malia about swearing at her Crew. Wow, what a rough SEASON. Glad its over. I wonder if we will have a REUNION show?

They said that Tom has a lot of experience as a yacht chef, so his decisions so far are just not making sense. With the first charter he handled, he chose to grill steaks on the deck instead of cooking them in the kitchen. I get it - I love a grilled steak too. But having ONE person to handle preparing dinner, it's not realistic. There's too much of a distance to cover going between the grill and the kitchen with everything else. He created unnecessary stress! On this episode, I'm totally baffled as to why he decided to POACH the chicken! Why? The only time I ever poach chicken is when I'm putting it in something else. If I need cooked chicken to throw in a casserole, I'll poach it. But if the chicken is being cooked to eat on its own, I'm not going to poach it - yuck! Compare this to how Ben stepped in to the crew last season. Like Tom, he jumped in with very little preparation, had a very short turnaround to get familiar with the kitchen, and was stepping in to a kitchen that was disorganized and hadn't run well previously. But he made things work right off the bat. So all the excuses Tom and Malia are serving up don't fly. He's just not nearly as good of a yacht chef as he claims to be ... not unlike Kiko. Only Kiko had the added pressure of a captain breathing down his neck that Tom has not had to deal with.

ITA agree too! Excellent point about the poached chicken. I hadn't even thought about that but you are absolutely correct, chicken salad calls to poach your chicken so you can add it to the salad. I must say again, that I really like Bugsy. She's so upbeat and so good with the guests - especially the creepy ones. That whole 'Carmen/BJ Golf' routine would have had me visibly disgusted, Bugs was great. Plus, she didn't complain at all about late night and early morning shifts. And furthermore, I'm so happy that isn't my family.

Hubby looked at me and said " does the primary have an escort with him"??? Ya, we did not think she was a long time family member at all. She wanted the primary to take pics of her (not with him) with and without her clothes on and in different compromising positions like over the rocks.........

Bugsy does handle those situations really well. I'm impressed with how many of the crew members roll with the bad behavior of guests. Hannah and Kate have also done a great job in those situations of smiling and nodding along with it and then rolling their eyes and venting when in private. But you're right - Bugsy just rolls with it as a part of the job. She doesn't really act as if she's really being put upon to tolerate it.

LMAO pasnowbunny!!!!!!! You're right!
It amuses me to watch Malia in those emergency moments. I'll be honest and fair and say that she's good at it. But it also comes across like she's hyper aware of being on camera in those moments and it's really important to her to come across as the super woman who keeps all the guests safe and protected.

Does anyone else find Aesha's voice like nails on a chalkboard? I think it might be worse than Fran Dresher. Rob seems like a nice guy and all, but his personality is almost like robotic at times. He could play a brooding bad guy in an action film.

Based on Malia’s rules of maritime law, shouldn’t Jess be fired? I mean what if there was an emergency on board and she started having heart palpitations and could not perform her duties for the emergency? Come to think of it ... Sandy said she had a heart attack. She could have another one, so she should probably be fired too! It’s also worth pointing out that the downfall of Rob and Jess’ relationship was when they started bunking together. Jess even said that it was hard having no time away from him. So in a round about way Malia caused this problem. #HannahWasRight

While I have not watched tonight's epi yet.....I was wondering have any of the HOOK-UPS on BD ever worked out after filming stopped? Oh and on Jess and Rob.....he was still talking to a GF or an EX GF back home....I think that is what got Jess upset enough to MOVE ON.

I don't think any of the hook ups that have formed on the show have lasted. However, since Malia and Tom, Padget and Ciara and Capt Lee and his wife are all couples who met while working together on yachts I think it's safe to say that sometimes such hook ups do work.
Rob getting a text from his girlfriend was just the start of it between Jess and Rob. Every time one of them does something the other doesn't approve of, they overreact and correct it. So being in each other's faces non stop to see all those irritations is a big part of it! That's why Hannah knew not to move cabins around to take care of hook ups - and Malia and Sandy did not!
