For shows still airing I love Erin Napier and her devotion to giving us kitchens with color, because I despise the all-white kitchen trend. I love green and really like the shades she picks out. I'm also enjoying the crew on "Who's Afraid of a Cheap Old House" because they always listen to the clients and the houses and interior design is a wonderful blend of the old and new. I don't often watch Farmhouse Fixer, but what I've seen I've liked.
So many great designers from shows no longer airing. Loved the Boise Boys, Nate and Jeremiah, that show Egypt Sherrod was on, and vintage Property Brothers when their designs were fun and full of color. I also enjoyed Joanna Gaines when she's not hoarding all of the shiplap, lol.

Not sure, but they quiet quit a lot of shows. Jeremiah has joined the upcoming season of "Queer Guy" and Luke from Boise Boys is going to have a new show on what people suspect is the Magnolia Network. That messy child from Good Bones was mumbling something about going back to HGTV if "they pay her a million dollars" (lol WHUT!?) and Leeanne Ford is too busy with her Crate and Barrel collaboration to be bothered with HGTV now. At this point, Home Town is HGTV's bread and butter show now and if Ben and Erin decide to pull a Chip and Joanna and uproot I can see them being in a world of trouble. It's a good thing "Christina on the Coast" is coming back next month because with the exception of the "Who's Afraid Of..." show and "Zillow Gone Wild" (which has an built in audience because of the extremely popular Instagram) a lot of what HGTV is doing now isn't sticking with audiences.

I haven't really loved an HGTV designer since Candice Olson. Such beautiful, classy rooms. Erin does good work, as did MJ on Good Bones. And I know people love to rip on Joanna Gaines, but as long as the shiplap didn't overtake a room, her vibe was earthy, pretty and cozy. At least until the black and white farmhouse stuff took over HGTVland. Sarah Richardson oh, love her stuff but only available on HGTV Canada or YouTube.

Farmhouse Fixer: Kamp Revamp episode 2 - 99 Problems - June 25, 2024 I am getting a bit fed up with the "fake" storyline. First of all they are making it sound as if all of Jonathan's money is in this project. I don't believe it. He was in a boyband that still tours. He has has been a real estate investor since 1994 restoring homes in Massachusetts for the last 14 years or so. So I am to believe this man is such a horrible business person that at age 55 he is broke and the Kamp Revamp project is his last chance to become successful. I hate the fake, build only one property at a time stick. I hate that Jon and his project manager act as if they didn't do a survey of the property and didn't take into account that each cabin may need new electrical, new plumbing, new septic tanks. Please, anyone doing a potential million dollar project is having a survey done, is hiring project managers, and designers ahead of time and better have a scope of the project done before any demoing is done. All the design work is done ahead of time. All the ordering of materials is done ahead of time. No one does one cabin at a time when you have 12 cabins on the property plus a main house. Please stop the fake drama. I don't believe for a second every time something happens Jon goes into panic mode and wants to quit and sell the place. Being an entertainer is a risk. Being a real estate investor is a risk. This man has been in two risky businesses for over 30 years, I think he knows what he is doing.
It's nice that Jon is including his family in for advise and support, but I don't believe for a second they are doing the color palettes for the cabins.

Beach on the Battle Disaster continues with the Bunk Room - July 1, 2024
Really, a bunk room and a playroom. This is so stupid. Again when I was on Oak Island the smallest bedroom on the ground floor had two double bunk beds, they were all twin beds. You could walk between and that was it. If it rains parents take the kids to a boardwalk or some other activity, they are not playing in the bunkroom. Let's not even start talking about a projector and a screen rolled up over one of the windows. Kids will play games on their iPads firsts. Some of these ideas are so stupid.
Taniya's Team - first time - there was poor craftmanship and a mess in both the bathroom and bunkroom.
Ty's Team - no do not paint stripes in a room they had professional sprayed a dark navy blue and Ty wanted to paint stripes with 50 minutes to go.
Allison's Team - The guy partner, those comments about his partner "not working" were supposed to be funny, they were not. Finally a completely finished room. How nice. But the bunk beds were too high. Like they couldn't buy some. All they did was lay new floor, paint the room, and build a pair of bunkbeds that were too high off the ground for even adults. They won. The judges liked the blue stripes on the one wall.
Just sad, the episode, the rooms, the teams, the judging.

Maine Cabin Builders: Building Italy - episode 3 - Bedrooms and a Basement Floor - July 01, 2024 - Magnolia Network
The kids help demo the basement walls. Chase wants one big room to be the main family room with new level floor, new windows, a new door, and a new bathroom. Everyone hauls all the rubble up the hill to the driveway where Mr Crunchy, crushes all the terra brick and rubble into sand and very small bits that they haul all the way down the hill and mix with mortar and make a new concrete floor. Recycling at it's best.
All the kids get to design their bedrooms. Mainly paint, wallpaper, new lighting, reusing some of the original furniture and some getting new pieces, plus building Fletcher a loft bed in his room with a desk underneath. Lots of fun. The colors are subdued so no shocking pinks just very pale blushes. Chase gets to install some plaster crown molding and rosettes with his daughter Noori.

Battle of the Beach:
You guys are one episode ahead of us in Canada.
Bunk rooms are next week for us. This weekend was bedroom bathroom.
I like what Taniya ‘s couples cottage the most so fair.
Hate the other 2. Alison’s couple like to build stuff but the workmanship is so bad. Everything is too big for the space. The bedroom was just meh . The camera angle made it look like the beds were shoved to one end of the room.
Ty couple ….just bad. Didn’t like the living room , or bedrooms. What the heck , the fireplace was in a weird place. They were the ones that took every room to the beams. How do you cool down these rooms. The urnal in the bathroom just no.
Have no idea what 5he judges are thinking…lol just give everyone a bit of money. Make them feel good.

Battle on the Beach - epic bunkrooms! *snort* Team Taniya - probably would have been a nice room if they had more time, but it looked a mess when they were "done." The husband is getting irritatingly whiny. Team Ty - painted everything dark blue when Ty gently suggested they do a lighter theme in this room. Nope, they made a cave. I'll never understand this retro clubhouse theme for a beach house. The lockers looked kind of awful. Team Alison - if I'd hurt my back and my husband made some snarky comment about me not working (when I WAS working), he'd be wearing some paint on his head. She had a cute theme/colors going on in this room, but those beds need to come down a foot. Winners because they sucked the least.

As for the husband on Team Taniya. I watched their show. They renovated a 100 yr old farmhouse. The entire series was them moving the house to a different location and adding on a huge new addition. They basically did it themselves with the help of his father or her father I believe. They did it all based on really good craftsmanship and watching the budget. I don't think hubby likes the timeline of this series and is probably exhausted and yes getting snappy.
As for the male partner of Team Alison, he deserved a big slap on the head for what he said it was SO disrespectful. I don't understand why they simply didn't buy a set of bunk beds. These builds are getting so stupid.

Farmhouse Fixer: Camp Revamp episode 3 - Killing Me Softly - July 2, 2024
Cabin 6 , the couples cabin. While I do like that Jon and his team are saving all the interior and exterior doors of the original cabins to reuse, why are they using them as bathroom doors and bedroom doors? These doors have huge glass inserts on the top half with clear glass. You can see everything, your bare naked ass if asleep in bed or you squatting while using the toilet. Make this make sense.
Also why would you not include a place to eat in the couples cabin. Only have crappie refurbished table on the porch is not a good option. By the way no how do I believe the mother or sisters were actually sanding any of that furniture. Send it to a professional and get them sanded, and stripped, and paint sprayed properly. That was so fake all of it. If they were really using a sander the top of that fold down table would look a lot better.
I did like the final look of the cabin. Painting everything white with the bead board looked amazing. Liked the blue accent wall and the blue kitchen cabinets. But really where would you keep the dishes?????
If you are so concerned about budget why are you buying handmade tile from Portugal?
Also there was an episode where one of Christina's design assistant painted designs on tile to make it look handmade and that is what I assume they did. A cheat? Maybe.
The pop of mustard yellow was nice. However I hate the look of handmade tile rather have manufactured tile with a wavy look. Less expensive, even grout lines, same look for less.
The beginning of the episode was interesting because it was about rebuilding the cottage damaged by trees and instead it became a reno of a totally different cottage.
You can't tell me that Jon in going into this project without having any idea of costs, potential customers, etc ... Is he really that stupid of a businessman?
The scope of this mini series is 4 episodes covering renovations of 3 cottages and the main house so they can rent at least 3 cottages while Jon is away on tour. I will tell you this, if I pay that kind of money for a vacation rental and Jon is back from touring he better not be renovating any other cottages while I am trying to relax and not listen to construction noises.

Beach on the Battle Season 4 Episode 6 - Fishing for More Time - July 9, 2024
A 36 hour challenge for the locked room. Team Taniya wins the challenge and gets 2 extra hours to complete the locked room. There will be 3 hours for planning and ordering materials and the next day starts the 33 hour clock.
Stupid challenge. What ever happened to the mantra "heads in beds". How many mini frigs, popcorn machines, bars, and overhead projectors does a beach cottage need? They used to give the teams a week or at least several days to fix all the messes/misses they have done. The craftsmanship is really missing this week.
All the teams were given an extra $15,000 to finish the rooms. Team Allison was down to like 2 or 3 thousand. They choose to only use half the money for the rest of the build. Their drywall was not done well. The paint was not done well, the hidden door didn't shut properly, the carpet was not even installed only laid down, the room was a half finished mess. No way is this team winning this week or the next week's final prize.
The win was between Team Ty and Team Taniya. It was Team Dining Room/Game Room & Bar vs Team Sauna and Cold Bath.
Seriously, these cottages are too small to contain that many amenities, at this size it's heads in beds, and some extra bathrooms, and a working TV, and a good WIFI signal.
HGTV will need to go back in and spend a good $10,000 t0 $20,000 or more on each beach house to fix all the poor craftsmanship.

Maine Cabin Masters: Building Italy: Episode 4 - Sarah's Italian Dream Kitchen - July 8,l 2024 - Magnolia Network I was a bit leery of how the kitchen would turn out as Chase does the cabin kitchens on a budget and reuses old cabinets and appliances. They kept the old fireplace and had to fix the chimney as it really was just a open tunnel to the roof and covered in soot and probably creosote, a potential fire in the chimney. They capped it, insulated it, and put in a new steel tube.
They got the new kitchen cabinets, light grey on the bottom and white uppers. Sarah picked up on the colors in the floor tile, and picked a light yellow tile for the sink backsplash.
The girls created a lemon tree mosaic on the fireplace hearth. I really didn't think it would work but the finished piece was nice.
They showed Chase and the kids chipping plaster away from the doors. The stone walls around the doors looked so good they wanted to repoint it and showcase it. It did end up looking very good.
The entire crew went to an old stone cutting factory and picked a soft sand colored stone for the countertops and sink. Yes, it was a stone sink. I was skeptical but it all turned out much better then I thought it would. The walls were all painted white, and the floor tiles cleaned and polished and they got a second life.
It was a nice touch that Chase's family did a local trip to a restaurant they like and got the chef to show them how to make pasta and later they did it in their newly renovated kitchen.

Battle on the Beach - are you serious?? They gave Team Ty's sloppy ass room the win? The paint and drywall finish on those walls was horrible. And still with the dark, gloomy colors for a beach house. I hate it. I did like the spa room Taniya's team did, even if it was mostly assembled stuff. Alison's team is just a mess. That paint looked awful too, the "secret door" wouldn't close, and he just plopped down some cut loop carpet with no padding? Have fun keeping that kind of carpet clean at the beach...

Hurricane Beryl would doing them a favor knocking those homes down.
I take back my comment. This property is sold as a unit, all three houses including over 3 acres of land behind the homes.
OMGosh the beach houses look amazing inside. The one bunk room that looks like a ship would still be hard to change the bedding in but overall the craftsmanship and design look amazing. What happened?

I noticed the changes. But the description of the homes being professionally renovated had me on the floor. (Shore Place the one done by Team Taniya - actually shows well in the photos)
Mystic - the one done by Team Allison - it's awful. They left much of the furniture. The living/dining room is aquashed together the dining table is simple too big. Horrible space planing on that area. Maybe they shouldn't have moved the kitchen.
OMG -- this team puts too much in one space, too big furniture, too many pictures, too much. The paint job in the movie room was never redone you can see how bad it still is. This renovation was done about 6 months ago.
Summer Fling - Team Ty - need to change the name to Summer Barf. Again another team that does not understand space planning and scale. The bad paint jobs were left. You can see in the photos. They put too much furniture in the living room. The beds in the bunk room are way too high up. Has no one ever built a bed before?
Of the three Team Taniya looks the best, is the neatest, has the best craftsmanship and they didn't over stuff the spaces.
Team Allison is the absolute worst.

Bearcata right? They get an eyeroll if they use pre built stuff, but if they struggle to make something from scratch in the little bit of time they have, they get dinged. So dumb. Christina on the Coast premieres tomorrow night for anyone still interested in modern farmhouse gray-white-black mess. Maybe she'll change it up this season...

Farmhouse Fixer: Camp Revamp: Episode 4 - Time of My Life - July 9, 2024 - season 1 finale
I hate the fake story line. Jon claims he doesn't even own a computer. How does he pay bills, how does he communicate, etc ...
I don't think he is leaving Essex, MA to live in New Hampshire to run this cottage rental business. Really, he doesn't realize he needs to advertise, he needs systems in place to make reservations, he needs a general manager, a cleaning crew, a grounds crew? No one is that stupid, not when they have invested over two million dollars in purchasing the property and in planned renovations.
Looks as if they only renovated the ground floor of the property owners house and created a welcome center in the garage.
HGTV says that fans are clamoring for a season 2.
There will be no rentals done until all of the cabins are completed per Harley, Jon's husband.

Christina on the Coast - I'm mildly irritated that she kept pushing her parents to change the living room. They liked it as is, leave it alone. Not every damn TV needs to be above the fireplace, and if her dad liked his old VHS/media set up, so be it. The kitchen was fine - white uppers with natural wood lowers, gold hardware - but I didn't love the orangey floors. I get that they wanted to keep them, though.
I read some stuff that there may be trouble between Christina and hubby #3. Instagram pics taken down, names taken out of bios...ugh. If this one blows up, maybe stay single for a while?

OMG, Christina is back. New house they have to lovingly peruse in the opening scene.
Anyone find Christina a disrespectful brat to her parents?
Notice how mom and dad were so happy to SEE her?
These folks are not that decrepit, get a chair lift for the stairs if needed.
I was blown away with with the color palette picked. White paint on the walls, white upper cabinets, white countertops, white backsplash, so on trend, so innovative.
The powder room or powder bath as they like to call it did shock me. COLOR? Christina did not design that, must have been James.
Curious that they didn't think to sand the floors and stain them another color?

Yes! I thought Christina was kind of awkward and cool towards her parents - her best friend hugged them with more warmth. Very weird.
I thought a chair lift would work too. Not sure why, but they seemed adamant about leaving those floors and the color alone. Their choice, I guess. No way Christina picked that colorful wallpaper, that had to be James.

Seriously, the woman needs to stop marrying the guys she is dating.
She needs to mourn the marriage for about 6 months and date NO ONE and get some therapy.
