There's a new Nate and Jeremiah show on Saturday nights. I thought they were under contract to TLC? I watched them last night. Nate has always done good work. Jeremiah is the dominate one in the relationship. I really like Nate and always have but I can take or leave Jeremiah. He seems like a spoiled child. Just my perception. May be right may be wrong.

I ran into the two shows by accident and, while I recognized the first, I didn't the second. They also added little new homebits about their pending move to NYC.

Tonight's two episodes of Nate & Jeremiah Save My House are listed as "new" on my cable grid, but they are also shows from last year (By Design season 3) with new titles.

The Nate/Jeremiah shows are new to me (YAY) because they were playing on TLC when I changed my channel lineup and got rid of that channel.

Not sure if tonight's Hometown was a new show but I've never seen it before. The couple was adorable, and I laughed when they both hated the second house Erin and Ben showed them and refused to even go inside! The house they picked was great. Loved the pops of color on the exterior and the plant boxes at the windows and the wonderfully colored door. The pistachio colored cabinets in the kitchen were lovely, and the brick chimney they kept in there was a great touch. Getting rid of the dark hallway was also a great idea. While I wasn't a fan of the en-suite bathroom it was good how they utilized that space. Last of all, I loved that buffet Ben built for them out of old wood salvaged from the house. Overall, very good episode.

Tarek's new Flipping 101 show was okay, but I don't know if I care to watch another Virgin/First Time Flippers kind of show. The husband was somewhat irritating - he quit his job to flip and took out a half million hard money loan?! - plus he didn't want to listen to Tarek's suggestions and was generally just too hyper. The closing costs they listed seemed really low, too. Eh.

Unsellables - Season 1, Episode 7 - Empty Nest Turned Family Retreat - 10 March 2020
I really liked what these ladies did to this house. The outside of the house was great, the inside needed a refresh. If you look past the staging the ladies painted the house and updated the kitchen and the bathrooms and refreshed the family media center. I liked how they painted the kitchen cabinets a mid sea blue, put in a patterned floor tile, a glass backsplash, a new counter and sink and new stainless steel appliance package, got rid of the stair like railing and replaced it with a knee wall and bar counter top making the kitchen an eat in kitchen. It sounds like a lot as I write this but it was not and it looked like a brand new kitchen when they were finished. I also like the built ins they put in by the media niche, painted over the brass accent on the fireplace and put in wallpaper where the TV was, but they kept the carpet. The bathrooms got new vanities, sinks, faucets, counter-tops, and the carpet was ripped out and replaced with tile and the walls painted and again it was amazing how good the home looked.

One of a Kind - Season 2, Episode 9 - Oh How She Loved Home - 10 March 2020
Luv what Grace did with this small bungalow style cottage in Fort Worth. Amazing what you can do with $70,000 in Texas. I was surprised that you can put on an addition to a house with that money. It also was one of the smallest budgets I have seen on this show. Luv'ed the kitchen and what Grace did with the loft making it so more accessible to the rest of the house. I do wish they had said how large the home was before the renovation. I would have luv'ed that as a first home, or home to downsize into.

Home Town: Season 4, Episode 9 - Bachelor's Paradise - March 9, 2020
Amazing the transformation of a home by just removing some shutters, changing the paint color and adding a small front porch.
The house was stunning, and we all learned a fabulous lesson about using faux plants in window boxes.
The transformation of the kitchen and master bedroom and bathroom were stunning. Erin and Ben hit that note between modern and traditional that looks timeless. While they did not mention it they house did go from a 4 bedroom to a 3 bedroom but it gained a huge master suite and a huge kitchen. I like how as a designer and as a couple this pair is always on the look out for bargains and do it yourself projects that add value to the home. Erin getting a deal of tile for longer made, Ben making a coffee table out of a piece of oak he saved. I do like how this couple finds old stuff and manages to re-purpose it.

Home Town: What a wonderful older couple. The husband was even taller than Ben! :O
They decided on a older house with a wrap-around porch. I really loved what they did with the outside with adding the big windows and swapping the 3 doors for one central one. Also really glad that they tore off the section of the porch that was added on to make it a true wrap-around. The house already had good bones with the high ceilings and huge rooms, but they redesigned it so the layout would make more sense. I'm really glad they were able to save and rehab the hutch in the old kitchen for the wife's quilt collection. Wife hated kitchen islands so they opted for a nice table instead, and the master suite was gorgeous. I particularly really loved how the bath was laid out. Erin always makes nice things for the homeowners and the quilt was a very welcome gift. Best of all, the huge pine tree that they had to get rid of because of the wife's (and daughter's) allergies got a beautiful moment in the sun as Downtown Laurel's official Holiday tree!

I really liked the transformation, too, on last night's HomeTown episode but hate when they sacrifice a bedroom to add that additional bath. Iirc the home was only 1500 sq ft. I disliked the foyer wallpaper. Agree about the hutch for the homeowner's quilts and Erin making a quilt for her. I enjoyed the outing to the Laurel Theatre;that was fun! I'd have chosen the 2nd home. It was larger, needed less work, and I liked it better. Porches aren't all they are cracked up to be, especially in that hot, humid Mississippi climate.

The original floor plan was chopped up and in this day and age folks want a master suite so I get the the going from a 3 to a 2 bedroom home. Home Town is probably the only show I have seen where folks have one or two bedroom homes as they houses we have seen are on the small side. Also as it makes sense this couple wanted something that was easy to take care of and it was only for them and maybe a quest once in a while. Considering the wife paints she will probably use the second bedroom as a studio. I luv the fact that this show does have clients who are very young or very old and don't want or need a huge space just a house for themselves. I wish I had that choice in the Northern Virginia area as it's either an apartment/condo, townhouse, or 4 bedroom home with really small rooms cause the more bedrooms the higher the seller can set the purchase price.

Hometown: I absolutely fell in LOVE with the old spooky Salem inspired carriage house and Erin's plans for it but understand why the client picked the Craftsman instead. The Salem house was bigger but also had a lot of stairs and since her husband was currently undergoing physical therapy from surgery they probably found the one-story Craftsman more manageable. It was also across the street from the park. The Craftsman also had a lot of charm; the woodwork hadn't been painted over and it had a adorable built-in desk with cubbyholes near the front door. Erin and Ben did a great job on this house bringing out all the Craftsman charm but making it look modern and not dated. I loved the bench with the builtins Ben made for the living room and Erin thinks of unique things to do all of the time; I had no idea you could make pressed dried flowers in the microwave using fire bricks but she did. Loved the kitchen with the green island and I thought it was a good ideal that they turned one of the bedrooms into an ensuite since they had 4. The bathroom was fantastic.
With that said, I loved the Salem. I remember in season two there was a house that wasn't picked in season 1 but someone fell in love with it, was picked for the show, and we got to see it remodeled. I hope that happens to it, because it really was a fantastic house.

I watched a recorded episode from last night showing a woman artist and her teen son moving back to Laurel from Tennessee. Ben kept talking about making pasta in the kitchen. The transformation was amazing! At the very end of the episode a bit of the next episode showed the lady and her husband into historic preservation. Your comment about the spooky house got me thinking I'm recording it incorrectly. What time are new episodes?

Home Town: Season 4, Episode 10 - Just Something About a Porch - March 16, 2020
Liked the porch. I am always amazed how Ben and Erin can transform an old house into a modern home get retain the charm of the original era the house was built in. The kitchen was amazing and I don't mind a table in the room. It is so much easier to cut veggies sitting done.

I hope that Home Town will have a future client who will take on the Spooky Carriage House.

Home Town: Season 4, Episode 12 - Termite Terror - March 30, 2020
A kindergarten teacher from Midland Texas buys a house in Laurel and Erin paints it pink. I like that Ben called the shade of pink Bashful Bliss I think. I was surprised at the reveal as Erin had stated at the beginning of the show that Stephanie like color. I did not see a lot of color in the house. It looked more neutral and washed out. While I do think a master suite should have an adjoining master bathroom I found it hard to believe in a 1,700 sq ft home that Erin and Ben would not put in a second bathroom as the house had originally been a two bed and two bath house. I do like the neutral putty/beige color of the kitchen cabinets and the touch of butter yellow. I really do prefer the hood vents that look like cabinets or furniture. I was curious was this school teacher moving to Laurel that was never made clear?

Bearcata I think that teacher was tired of living in a bigger city, and wanted to get back to the small town feel of a place like Laurel. When Erin said she was going to paint the house pink, I thought it would be awful - but that was more of a blush color to me, not bad at all. It went well with the butter yellow in the kitchen. Yeah, the interior wasn't super colorful but it was nice. Those termites really wrecked that poor house...

Oh man, those termites were a mess. I think Ben said that it added 11k onto the reno cost?
I hope Ben has a side gig just making furniture because the table he made for her was lovely. I liked the trim that went all around the top.

I thought Ben said the termite treatment was $1200 or thereabouts, which involved putting the poison all around the foundation. Repairing the structural damage is where it got pricy. 16K. What I don't understand is how the 2 estimates were so far apart. The first estimate came in at 50K. That's a huge difference!
I fell asleep again as I don't watch in real time. I liked the house but thought the 1st house was in a better location. Did they sacrifice a bedroom again for the master bath? They combined 2 baths into 1. Was a 2nd bath added? I think a single person can deal with a sole bathroom in a house but NOT when it's in the master bedroom. Your guests will have to traipse through your bedroom. There needs to be at least a powder room. Again, I fell asleep so idk if that was addressed.
