Or Christina should move her show from California to North Carolina to get more for her budget dollars. Technically it's still on a coast, too, although Hillary and Dave never seemed to do houses near the water... Because of the pandemic, LIOLI's new season will be located back in Canada, like the early years. What can Christina do on a limited budget? Luv to see her go head to head with Tiffany from $50k Three Ways. $50K is based in Chicago and that is not a cheap area to live and Tiffany's renovations are way more impressive than Christina's for less money.I can co-sign this but surprisingly being in the Midwest gives access to a lot of suppliers all in competition with each other, which tends to keep prices down reno-wise. I've seen Alison from Windy City do 150k on a reno but it tends to be the whole building and not just the kitchen and living room.
A question I wonder about is how much of it is the designer, and how much of it is the client liking her style and wanting a similar look? I've stopped watching Property Brothers Forever Home because it caters to families and every time Jonathan asks (with some hope and desperation) if they want color the client is like "I want a white kitchen with subway tile and maybe hints of blue in the living room" and it sucks. The Brother vs Brother series gives more range to their skills, plus the brothers have a wonderful sense of color that you don't see on their shows now. I like watching the retro Property Brother shows when they filmed in Canada because there was diverse housing stock as well as them utilizing colorful design solutions. I really wonder how Christina would do on a show like "Rock the Block" where she has to utilize her own creativity and isn't held down by a client.

You wrote a funny. I would luv to see her in a competition show but doubt that would happen. I will be the first to say mea culpa if she proves my opinion to be wrong.

I was watching Love It or List It this morning and realized that many times the renovation budget is around $120,000; Hilary can practically do the entire house for that budget and it looks very classy and high design. Christina needs to take some lessons. Or Christina should move her show from California to North Carolina to get more for her budget dollars. Technically it's still on a coast, too, although Hillary and Dave never seemed to do houses near the water... Because of the pandemic, LIOLI's new season will be located back in Canada, like the early years. Thank goodness. I prefer the Canada years because of the different housing and overall decency of the people on the show; no screaming at Hilary because the house has a foundation flaw that has to be fixed, but that means they aren't getting that extra bedroom!

Good Bones Season 6 Episode 10 - Pricey Paradise with Big Problems - August 31, 2021
Wow, amazing how the real estate market works. Before the ladies didn't have a lot of verified buyers and I think this is the third one this season.
I do like how overall the ladies think about the entire package, the landscaping, the outside and inside of the property. The big difference I see with the ladies is that they will go and move walls to improve the functionality of a home vs other flippers who just paint the walls and put in new finishes but the house still has cramped and awkward rooms.
I do like that the ladies do show that older folks both as singles and as couples are still vibrant and want to enjoy life and are willing to take risks and move into town to enjoy the walkability and vibrancy of down town.

Christina on the Coast - well she bought the farm. What boggles the mind is Christina asking her kids what kind of animals they want on the 24 acre plot. This is not a working farm, it is just a wooded lot with house on it. Christina is suprised there are no chickens in the coop when she arrives to visit her home Thankfully the previous owners either took them with them or made sure they had a home. They would have starved to death or died of thirst waiting for Christina to arrive 30 days after she bought the home. However she does meet with a local farmer to get some chickens and fainting goats. I hope she hires him to maintain the property and the animals.
This weeks design was a kitchen remodel with oak floors, white oak cabinets, black cabinet island, marble like white quartz countertops, marble subway tile backsplash. I am liking the stark white oak cabinets, a vast improvement over the standard honey oak cabinets in many homes.
Next week's episode is the last one for the season.

Oh no, next week's episode is the last? What will I make fun of now? I laughed when they were talking about farms and chickens and goats but screeched when a bug flew at them. Come on. I did like the cabinet colors, and rolled my eyes when she brought out the plain white subway tiles for the backsplash at first. High design! They ended up going with whitish marble subway tile, because color is scary, I guess.

Thankfully the clients picked the larger "modern" marble subway tiles to POP against the lightly veined marble looking quartz counter top. As for what to make fun of after this season is over? Tarek's Flipping 101 starts after Christina's season ends. We can both relax and mock the total idiocy of flippers with no building experience or knowledge of the real estate market renovate homes on the cheap, with no inspections, and expecting tons of money in profit.

Help, I Wrecked My House with Jasmine Roth season 2 premiered on Monday, September 7 2021
A couple buys their family forever home, she is a nurse, he owns a gym, they have no renovation experience, gutted the entire first floor, have no plans, depending on friends in the trade, and expected to get it all done in 6 weeks. Oh, they did contract with a pool company to put in an in ground pool for $90,000. Well. I guess I am going to see a lot of stupid on this show.
While Jasmine does do a similar California Costal style that we see Christina Haack use, the white cabinets, the white subway tile backsplash, the difference between the two ladies is that Jasmine uses color and is not afraid of trying something different.

Good Bones Season 6 Episode 11 - "Starting From Scratch in the Old Southside" - September 7, 2021
Wow, I am so glad there was no discussion about not tearing this house down, bad foundation, and fire damage scream teardown.
I am shocked that Karen went into a house that was being demolished for a crappy light fixture, I certainly hope that was all staged as it was incredibly stupid. I can just see it now, Karen may she rest in peace she gave her life for crap. Just so dumb.
Very glad to see them do a finished basement and put in very high ceilings, that makes the space so livable.
One thing I did not understand it looks as if there were two balconies, as you could see another deck on the other side of the privacy wall. That was very confusing.
As always the team does a good job with their finishes. I liked the flower patterned tile they used in the bathroom except the grout they used made it very hard to see the pattern. Maybe it looks better in person?
What is funny watching these episodes is that they are being aired so out of order as Mina's baby bump goes from not being noticeable to full on blimp back to bump.

I love "Help I Wrecked My House!" Jasmine is so sweet and endearing, and she loves helping people out who have gotten in over their heads. That couple and house was a mess until she helped them, and she has a gift for making spaces look bright and inviting.

That couple and house was a mess until she helped them, and she has a gift for making spaces look bright and inviting. I do like that the episode showed for a massive renovation including taking out walls you need professionals to do the framing else your house could collapse. What astonished me was the home owner thinking he could depend on friends in the trade to help, and that they could do a massive renovation like they wanted with no plans, no blueprints, no nothing. YouTube videos and HGTV flipping shows give homeowners grandiose ideas and very strange expectations.

Jasmine really is a sweetheart. That guy seemed to just like tearing stuff out and didn't have a clue as to how to put it back together. I did like the finished kitchen/living room except those black can lights hanging down. I don't know if that's a new thing or what, but I found them distracting and odd.
Good Bones - I hate to see an old house torn down but that poor thing was just done. Another nice new build, though, with their usual soft, relaxing colors and neat tile in the shower. And they sold this one pretty quickly, too!

And they sold this one pretty quickly, too! I kinda liked the black cannisters and realized she wanted to do some black accents and that was a way to do it. I personally do not want a lot of pendants hanging from my ceilings. I saw them do it in my brothers townhouse and while they had 9 ft ceilings the space was rather tight and pendants were not the right choice. I would rather have recessed lighting it's a cleaner look. But the homeowner had to approved the look. The metal windows to the family room were nice though. As for Good Bones, I have seen those ladies do miracles, we have all seen some really bad houses on that show. There is a certain point new is the way to go. I do like that they are trying to be creative with the siding, it's not super modern like some new builds but a transition between the older horizontal style and super modern. I do like how they change it up. I also like the setback entrance to the home where they are creating a small covered porch.

Christina on the Coast - I don't even know what to say about that one last night. I liked the different elements, but not put all together like she did. Natural wood shakers with super shiny modern white slab door uppers? Nope. Didn't like the dark metallic subway tile mixed with the white arabesque either (but major points to the tile guys for making those fit!). I did like the black cabinets in the bar with the metallic mosaic...and the fireplace was okay but I prefer some kind of mantle instead of all flat.
I guess we'll have another season of "high design" next year to make fun of.

I did like the black cabinets in the bar with the metallic mosaic...and the fireplace was okay but I prefer some kind of mantle instead of all flat. I guess we'll have another season of "high design" next year to make fun of. Last night's design was a merging of two people's designs. I do like that Christina made the attempt, she was listening to the clients. Yes, a real professional designer would have done a better job. This episode was unusual as the budget was $75K which is low for this series. I liked that because of the way the house was built they simply could not do "open concept". Well, they could if they were willing to raise the budget $30K. I am glad they said no. I do like that Christina suggested making the kitchen longer along the one wall and also making the island longer. I do like the seating area by the windows, and that the windows were the folding kind. I did like the extended island and the extra seating. I have a very similar layout and had thought about those two ideas for the space. I am glad the wife compromised a bit as the white walls, white cabinets, white backsplash, is boring. I would have preferred that they use the metallic black subway tile throughout the kitchen instead of just by the stove. I did not mind the white oak island cabinets. I think they should have used the darker gray floor tile it would have bounced better off the metallic black tiles better. Now for the personal life of Christina: Whatever happened to that Rottweiler puppy (Biggie) she bought two or three episodes ago? Her friend Cassie is pregnant. Christina puts the house on the market and sells in two weeks, a full cash offer and the buyer wants the furniture. It seems like Christina is constantly buying, renovating, and selling her homes. She and Tarek, just finished building their forever home and them got divorced. Christina meets Ant, they buy a house it gets renovated, she is pregnant, marries Ant, has a baby, divorces Ant, sells the house. I am seeing a pattern here, wash, repeat, rinse. Every two to three years. Oh, and right before the homeowners reveal she tells James that she had a new special someone named Josh. How the heck does she turn her feelings on and off like that? Seriously, when does she have the time to be full time mom, have a full time job, have a boyfriend? Can we say full time nanny, cause she is making sound so easy peasy, as if we all could be skinny, rich, and constantly saying stuff is the "most amazing thing ever". Doesn't come across a tad fake and too good to be true?

Help, I Wrecked My House - good grief, what did those people DO?! Was nothing permitted/inspected? They did a nice job on the kitchen and bath they renovated, but that addition...no. Jasmine did a great job on the new bedroom (I want that light fixture) and nursery, and the bathroom was pretty. I didn't love the closet all dark gray, it looked too cave-y, but that was my only gripe. I'm glad she talked them into some kind of door to the bathroom, because who wants all their business out in the open like that?

I'm glad she talked them into some kind of door to the bathroom, because who wants all their business out in the open like that? OMG ... are these people idiots. I am going to put up a two floor two bedroom, one bathroom extension to my house and I will use YouTube videos to help me do it. I do wonder like you do waywyrd if the concrete pad and the framing were ever inspected. I am sure that extension cost them twice as much as it should and they lived with it for 3 years. It took them 3 years to figure out they needed help? The husband, how hard is it to pour a concrete slab, dig a hole and pour concrete into it. It floored me that he was complaining that the original house was not level, or did not have level areas so it didn't run into what he did, and it turns out his easy peasy to do concrete slab was major NOT LEVEL. It killed me that they refused to spend the $4000 to fix that floor. Notice when Jasmin and the wall designer were doing the feature wall in the master bedroom they had to cut each piece of wood as the window was not level. That seems to be a recurring theme in that house. I bet the bathroom and kitchen they did also has that not level problem. While I love custom closets I was not a fan of that custom closet. Why? Well, you can get custom closet pieces off Wayfair and other places that you can make look custom. I just felt their vertical wooden pieces were too much. The closet could have been better. I was surprised that Jasmin didn't get the wife a custom vanity mirror with included LED lighting that you can control by touch. Oh, I am glad that Jasmin made the husband do the physical act of seating on the toilet with no door to the bathroom. Sometimes you just have to handhold the clients through the process.

FYI: Clint Harp Selling His Historic Home From Season 1 of ‘Fixer Upper’ for $899,000 www.realtor.com/news/unique-homes/clint-harp-selling-historic-home-season-1-of-fixer-upper/?identityID=611af932c90d78011e4112b7&MID=2021_0915_NL_Multi_Article&RID=25269290702&cid=eml_promo_Marketing_NonPRSL_MultiArticleNL_cons.13411022_2021_0915_NL_Multi_Article-article1-UniqueHomesHarp and his family lived in the redone residence for two years. But when Waco blossomed with all things Magnolia, and tour buses began motoring by the Harp house and the adjacent Harp Design Co, his personal business and storefront, Harp decided to turn the residence into one of Waco’s most profitable short-term vacation homes. Beyond the gorgeous interiors and premium pedigree, the location remains an A-plus. It’s ideally located, within a mile of Magnolia Silos and Downtown Waco, and just 2 miles from Baylor’s McLane Stadium. The home has even had its own small share of drama. In 2018, a woman filed a lawsuit seeking monetary damages from a fall she took on the front staircase when she rented the place back in 2016. Three years later, there’s no report the suit was ever settled. Can you say wants a free vacation, paid medical bills, and gold digger.

I'm trying to remember. Wasn't Clint Harp's house originally a real mess? As in so bad that I was shocked it wasn't torn down? For some reason the price tag of $25,000 is coming to mind. I don't remember what his all in budget was, but if it sells for asking price, he will have made a tidy profit.

I don't remember what his all in budget was, but if it sells for asking price, he will have made a tidy profit. The original house cost $10,000 and was close to being torn down, it was also full of bullet holes. I do think the original property was across the street from his workshop therefore a short commute. I do believe the budget to renovate was around $100,000. I have seen that the current tax assessment on the house is around $245,000 but I don't know what the comps are in the area. Ah, well the house may be a bit overpriced. The comps in the area run from 60K to 140K. Another of the Fixer Upper houses is on sale close by for 1.2M, it was the lady who was an Olympian track star and her husband and they worked at Baylor. I guess they are setting the houses as being renovated, large, multi bedroom, used as AirBnB rentals and therefore worth the price.

I fail to see how incredibly "dangerous" that staircase is, if it's the one in the picture. There are railings all up the right hand side, it doesn't look like a "steep drop off" and what does it matter what color it is? Sounds like another idiot looking for an easy payday at someone else's expense.

The trouble with being famous and on TV is everyone automatically assumes you are rich and they want their share. I mean the EPA went after Joanna and Chip for lead paint mediation to the tune of about 100K.

Good Bones - another cute house in an art-y area. I wasn't sure about Karen's decoupage floor upstairs, but it wasn't horrible and could be covered up by a rug if you wanted. Nice soft greens, charcoal hex backsplash and patterned wood-look floor tile. I wonder why they didn't show the bathroom, though? Hopefully it sold for a decent price.
I caught the last episode of Curb Appeal Xtreme - nice! About time they brought back some outdoor/curb appeal shows instead of the endless stupid flipping shows.

Help, I Wrecked My House: I think I understand what happened here; they did a pretty decent job on the kitchen and bath and thought that doing a addition would be equally easy, and it's not. I think they had good intentions and just got in over their heads. They looked like they got a lot done, but some of it was wrong (floor leveling, lack of space framed out for the medicine cabinet, etc). What I like about Jasmine is her patience; she tells them what they got wrong in a very kind way but let's them know that it's okay, it can be fixed. The bedroom, baby's room, and bath were lovely when she finished it.
As for Clint's legal woes: What a bunch of horsecrap. Okay, you fell down some steps. Did you get up? Were you okay? Good; go about your day then. Most lawsuits list injuries (like the poor elderly lady who spilled the McDonalds coffee on her lap and got third-degree burns) not this vague "severe injuries." Sounds like someone trying to get paid at someone else's expense.

It was an accident. However if the home owner offered to pay the hospital bills and the physical therapy I would gladly accept it and say thank you. This "sue culture" gets ridiculous.
