Rock the Block Season 3, Episode 3 - Main Suites Showdown - March 13, 2022
Dave & Jenny - Are you crazy? You remove a closet, not just a closet the bigger of the two closets in a master suite to create an exit to the back porch and make the space a reading nook? Again, you are crazy. At that moment I just knew you were not going to win this leg.
Reality check: women buy houses, the wife normally gets the final vote and you took away the main walk in closet in the master bedroom. DUH!
Like a sauna would replace a huge walk in master closet. Yeah, right.
Like a custom built mini closet would replace a huge walk in master closet and the mini closet has no door.
Like a custom built bathroom vanity would replace a huge walk in master closet.
IDIOTS!
Lyndsey & Leslie - while I like their show, on Rock the Block these twins come across like two frenzied ferrets.
On the 3D image their master walk in closet didn't look like much so I was not impressed, but the judges liked it. It also contained a stackable washer and dryer.
I didn't like the walk paper behind bathroom vanity it looked very busy and seemed to clash with the overall look and feel of the bathroom.
Egypt & Mike - That master closet rocked, ceiling high, integrated lights, gold handles what is not to like and they kept the second closet and made it more masculine. They made a huge shower, looked great.
The master bedroom wall color was perfect as was the color of the velvet on the master bedroom.
Keith & Evan - to be honest I thought this team won hands down from the design in the master bedroom and master bathroom. The wall design in the master bedroom was a WOW moment and the master bathroom design was even better. However that made the master walk in closet a disappointment because of the crappy closet organizers they used, it looked so cheap especially compared to E&M and L&L.
I was surprised that Lyndsey and Leslie won.
Design Challenge:
Use driftwood, reclaimed wood, sweet grass, sail cloth, or sea glass in your design.
As the winners of last week's leg Egypt & Mike had first pick and Mike chose driftwood and incorporated it into a console table, a safe choice and did not really transform the material.
Egypt & Mike got to pick the order of who went next.
Leslie and Lyndsey picked reclaimed wood and used it to back one of their closet elements.
Next was Dave and Jenny and they picked sea glass. Dave created a window insert for the sauna door using the sea glass and epoxy.
Last were Keith and Evan. Egypt stated at the beginning of the pick that this team was dangerous as they can transform anything so they were left to last and had the choice of sweet grass or sail cloth. Keith and Evan picked the sail cloth and managed to transform it into a beautiful statement piece in the master bedroom.
Pet Peeve: I really don't like it when they have these huge high end homes and they put those crappy wire shelves in the closets.

Rock the Block:
Dave and Jenny’s bedroom wasn’t my favourite. The closet for sure was too small and looked like you couldn’t really get to the corner to hang those shirts. The sauna was not a plus to me either.
Lyndsey and Leslie’s wasn’t my favourite either. That bathroom was very busy, with the wallpaper and the floor. I think they won because they bumped out the closet, didn’t Egypt and Mike too? I wouldn’t want a washer and dryer in my closet. The humidity along from the dryer and dust that comes off a dryer. They looked full size too . Don’t know how you reach the upper one. Mine are on the floor and usually have to crawl in to make sure I got everything.
Keith and Evan’s bathroom at first glance was wow but didn’t like the brick behind the vanity my husband has a bad habit of splashing . Was there a light in the shower it would be dark in there. No need for 2 water closets one should have been a linen closet. Hope there is one in another part of the house. Mine is full to the brim would like a bigger one.
Egypt and Mike was my favourite again. Wouldn’t need the doors going outside so I had a choice where the bed could go.
Did love what all of them did with the challenge. The boys was nice but a dust collector.

I think Egypt and Mike should have won.
Am I the only one who cleans bathrooms and bedrooms? Cleaning ease certainly ranks high on my list of priorities. —The circular shower would have been a nightmare to maintain, especially in a humid climate. I lived in a house with an enclosed shower, tile on three sides and on the ceiling…it always stayed wet and got moldy very fast. Trying to scrub and spray tiles above my head was miserable. I can’t imagine what cleaning that circular shower would entail. — brick in a bathroom- again no way. How do you clean brick? — the sail cloth art project in the bedroom. Yes It was beautiful but in 6 months it will be covered in dust. You can’t vacuum it, it would come apart. —The washer and dryer in the closet didn’t look practical. Where do you put the detergent, bleach, dryer cloths? Where do you fold clothes? — big tubs in the middle of the bathroom are a trend that I hope goes away soon.

The boys was nice but a dust collector. If Dave and Jenny had included the sauna space into the closet space they used that could have been a manageable closet but still too small for that size master suite. I do agree about the corners in that closet, very awkward. L&L we are on the same page. I was not a fan of the black and white tile on the floor but it would have been manageable if the wallpaper over the vanity was not there. K&E - the brown brick is not my favorite but design wise I can see that they are reusing the same element from the living room fireplace. Splashing, does it really matter? However I get the two bathroom closets. It was a thing for a while and people are weird about toilets. Just look are all those House Hunter episodes where people freak out over other people using the toilet or having carpet in a house. Seriously how those people function in real life is beyond me. I did wonder about the lose threads in the feature piece as well as dusting it but a good vacuum should take care of it. E&M these folks know their buyer and they deliver the goods.

At this price point the home owners have a regular cleaning crew come in. Good point about the items needed to run the washer and dryer. I prefer a separate laundry room/mudroom if I could have it with a laundry sink and counters to fold clothes and iron them if needed. I don't want my laundry in my closet.

Rock the Block:I liked everyone's work this week for different reasons. With that said, I liked some people's work over others. Dave and Jenny: The beach vibe continues with their bedroom and it's a very soothing space. I liked how they had a reading nook but not at the expense of a closet, and as a city person I do not want a door leading to outside from my bedroom. Bathroom was pretty in your standard upscale way. Egypt and Mike: Everyone who has watched Egypt on any show knows she is is the Closet Queen so it didn't surprise me that not only did they keep both closets, the main one was kitted out in an upscale, yet easy to use fashion. Their shower was huge and had a seat in it so you can put on lotion, shave your legs, etc. The bedroom itself had lovely, spice inspired colors that were great. Lindsey and Leslie: I give them ten points for understanding that a Master Bedroom needs a huge closet and they delivered on that. Stealing room from the already huge porch to increase the size was a great idea. Not sure how I feel about there being two sets of washer/dryers in the house because that's like overkill. I loved the reclaimed wood in the closet as well. Bathroom was lovely. Keith and Evan: I loved this, yet at the same time I realize how unpractical some of their choices were. The sailcloth art was beautiful, but like woodiedog said would become dusty and dirty after 6 months. I LOVED the bathroom; I know a lot of people with exposed brick in bathrooms and it's less trouble than you would think. Having two WCs in the bathroom was also a fabulous idea; as someone who lives in a place with only one bathroom that would be so convenient and stop fights, lol. However, they should have taken some of the money they spent in the bathroom and allotted it to the closet because those "built ins" looked cheap as hell. If you are buying a house at that price point more than likely you're upsizing and want more out of your closet than something that would look at home in a rental. Seriously, the closet was like the sad trombone sound because it brought the whole design down. While my choice would have been E&M I understand why the twins won.

Rock the Block: while I did like Dave and Jenny's reading nook, I agree - a closet would have been preferable. And I don't really want a sauna in the house, all we have to do is walk outside if we want to sweat down here. Keith and Evan - I hated that they took out the windows with a view of the water, and didn't love the tatty sail art on the wall. Bathroom was stunning, though. Lindsey and Leslie - Nice closet, but I just don't want or need a washer/dryer in my closet. And I might be the only one, but I didn't like their bathroom. I hate that green they keep using. Egypt and Mike - they should have won, seriously. Everything was gorgeous.

I want my main bathroom to be light and airy not dark.

Egypt and Mike - they should have won, seriously. Everything was gorgeous. I just watched the episode again. Jenny made a comment that the closet they turned into a reading nook was "tiny". This was the larger of the two closets and she calls it "tiny". Yet the other closet Dave built shelves for shoes and you can't even put them straight on the shelf as the shelf is very narrow and the lower shelves totally block access to a hanging space. Poor space planning in that closet. The windows that Keith and Evan closed opened to the side yard and you have a good view of the next house over, the side yard, and a bit of the canal. On the other wall that they installed a French Door was the back wall that looked over the canal. As much as windows are nice in a bedroom I want to sleep and have it very dark, therefore I keep the shades and curtains closed. That is the purpose of a bedroom to sleep not look outside.

Flip or Flop - big Spanish style home, looked nice when it was finished. The faded blue-gray tile she put on the bathroom floor is the very one I was looking at for my bathroom, I have a sample of it sitting on the floor now. Did they ever say if the house sold? All I remember at the end is that last few minutes of awkward, scripted "We're done" stuff.

Tarek said that they could potentially earn a $300,000 profit then Christina told Tarek she doesn't want to flip houses any more. There was no signage at the end of the episode stating if the home had sold.

Hometown: I really liked the two houses they selected for the family to choose from; Laurel has great housing stock. They decided on the Craftsman because it had a lot of the original features, including the original dark woodwork. His priority was a nice bathroom setup where he could nap in the tub with water sprinkling on him and I think they succeeded with that but I would have also liked a big bench in the shower. The bed and poor bench was made by Ben (and the couple's teenage children) and were gorgeous. Overall, I liked what they did with the house.

Flip or Flop Season 10 Episode - Spanish Lessons - March 17, 2022
This episode is the season finale as well as the series finale.
The episode starts with Tarek calling Christina to look at a potential flip and she is driving to the airport to fly to Tennessee.
There is a teaser scene in the middle of the episode where Christina comments that she is tired of designing for flips and rather do designs for clients.
Again at the final walkthrough Christina cannot be there. Do these folks not coordinate their schedules, after all they own a business together and the business is their livelihood? Tarek does the walkthrough with Christina on the cell phone.
The episode is extended a minute or so Christina can have a talk with Tarek saying she does not want to flip houses anymore, that she wants to concentrate on her design business. Let's face it Christina would not have a design business if it was not for flipping houses.
Tarek will have to buy out Christina.
The couple was actually getting along very well now that Tarek had his new girlfriend/wife, also is a lot less irritable now that he is gluten free. There was an unhealthy competition between C&T especially with her marrying so soon after their divorce. Season 10 has been very free of drama and I have actually liked most of the designs and tile choices.
C&T have evolved into a very good flipping team but it was a 10 year voyage. In addition to flipping the team had earned at least $30,000 each for each episode, plus royalties for reruns, and appearance fees over the years probably cushioning their business in hard times and enabling them to live a very lavish lifestyle. Let's face it this show gave Christina a background in the building trades and contacts to help her in her design business. I think she has also hired some very good assistants.
In regards to the episode, the kitchen read more mid-century modern than rustic Spanish. The floor tile and shower tile was a nice rustic touch. I liked the more teal colored floral tile in the main floor bathroom and I liked that they used that tile on the fireplace. Overall the couple knows what touches were needed and in what location; the upstairs patio being an example of that with just painting the stucco white and changing out the curved leave pattern to a geometric pattern. Overall the did a good job on the renovation, but it looked more Spanish Light then Spanish Rustic.
HGTV is airing Fix My Flip, Married to Real Estate, and Mash Up Our Home, shows that I think are good inheritors of the Flip or Flop mantle. After 10 years it is good to see some new series and new faces.

Okay, I watched this week's Rock the Block but before I comment on it had a question for our Southern/Southern Adjacent/suburban members. Is it common to rent apartments/rooms in your actual house or garage there? Where I live there's more two and three flats and multi-unit buildings so a landlord might live in one of the units everyone has their private home, if that makes sense? Many years ago when my partner first came to this state he was renting the basement suite that an older woman had in her house and was renting for extra money but that was uncommon around here even then, and that was 20 years ago.

Northern Virginia here. A friend of mine has consistently rented out the finished basement in her townhouse. It was small but it has a separate bedroom, a bathroom and very small living room and she gave her renters kitchen privileges. The was a separate entrance and private deck. Many folks rent out their basements or spare rooms. Rentals are high, house prices are high in Northern Virginia. My elderly neighbor across the street regularly rents out his basement and has one to three roommates upstairs. I think he prides himself having someone else pay his mortgage. Some of the renters are small families, some girlfriend/boyfriend, some single professionals that stay there during the week because their jobs are here and go home over the weekend potentially out of state. My neighbor also likes people in his house. Some of the renters have homes in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, or West Virginia. The one from NC was a linesman and worked for an electrical company here in Virginia and went home on the weekends to his wife in NC. I think in cities like Toronto this is very common. If I had a separate ADU over my garage I would rent it but I would pay extra to have a realtor do the background check and prepare a valid ironclad rental agreement. When I first moved here half my salary went into my rent and later my mortgage.

Rock the Block Season 3, Episode 4 - F.R.O.G. Showdown - March 21, 2022
I am surprised who Nate and Jeremiah picked as the winners.
Dave & Jenny: FROG: Installed a full bathroom, a kitchenette, a trundle bed and built in desk in the FROG. Staged it as a home office but can switch to a guest room. What I don't understand is why put in a kitchenette if there is no mini frig to keep food cold. They put in a wine frig and it looks like a dishwasher, but there was no place to store any dishes? That made no sense.
LOFT: Made the loft a full laundry room with sink, cabinets and counters. So what will happen to the laundry room across the hall?
They kept it clean and simple using coastal blues and greens for their wall colors.
Egypt & Mike: FROG: put in a kitchenette, with a mini frig, two burner induction cooktop, a sink. Again no storage for dry goods or dishes. Plus a murphy bed for guests and a full bathroom.
LOFT: nice built-in desks & shelves for homework and seating area.
Nice blue grey color for the cabinets in both areas. Looked better built and more luxurious than D&J's.
Leslie &Lyndsey FROG: put in a bigger kitchenette with a full stove and microwave, sink, and mini frig. They also built a partial wall the kitchenette as it was by the stairs so they could put upper cabinets and you know that they would have dishes and storage for dry goods. The top of the wall had two cutouts which was a nice touch allowing light from the stairwell windows.
Installed a full bath, put in a futon, a cafe table and addition seating. Nice staging, lots of color and texture, looked a very flexible space. You could comfortable use this as a rental.
LOFT: built-in peg hole walls and desks. However the desks looked very narrow and not really useable for craft projects as was stated in the twins premise. Also added a sofa for additional seating.
Keith & Evan FROG: my favorite, this team went all out and I really liked what they did in this small space. It was staged as an efficiency apartment with a full kitchenette including a full size stove. Since I have lived over a year with out a stove (it broke) and I use a toaster oven, you can function quite well with only a microwave, a toaster oven of some kind, and a cooktop or two. You don't need a full size oven. The color was outstanding. It really had greatest impact of all four FROG spaces, well in my opinion. I would have luv'ed to have that room as my first apartment.
LOFT: Again another WOW moment with that incredible built-in made from discarded scrap wood. I don't know if I would call it mid-century modern. The room was staged very well. The boys know their colors and are not afraid to use it as well as lots of texture.
I thought the boys would win this leg of the show but instead Dave & Jenny did. I don't understand this as this home does not have a family room on the ground floor and it looked as if the loft was to function as the family room and yet they turn it into a laundry room.
I did think K&E and L&L had the best rooms mainly for providing better kitchenettes.
I think K&E had the two best rooms.
I do like E&M design style and both rooms were equally functional but the lack of storage for food and dishes is not good. Even if the dishwasher was really a mini frig that helps and they did have a microwave built into the cabinets I still think they need some kind of toaster oven. But where do you store the dishes and utensils?

It's fairly common here in South Carolina, even more so since housing prices and rents have gone up so much. There aren't many basements here, but I see extra rooms being advertised for rent all the time. I live by a military base, too, and there are a lot of young, single folks that just need a room since there's a long wait for base housing. Personally? I don't want strangers tromping in and out of my house. I like my privacy.

Rock the Block:
This one was hard because I like the Frog of one but the loft of another. Loved the big laundry room but is there another family room type room in the house? Liked the guys layout better for there frog they had a full bed. Only thing is it meant no window in the bathroom that made it look dark. Didn’t like the colours either. So can’t believe I’m saying this but the guys should have won or Egypt and Mike because you could have made the desk build into a tv stand….lol
Leslie&Lyndsey: didn’t like the peg board at all and like someone said those desks were to small. They only had 2 white chairs across too . There frog was nice but no bed, guess the couch was a futon maybe? So for me the frog was ok , loft no
Egypt & Mike: like the Murphy bed , they didn’t say it was for a rental because it would be a pain to keep moving the table/ desk. Can’t remember if they had a fridge. The loft was ok would have done with out the pink and blue circles on the wall. I don’t think I would want the desks . I know with Covid a lot of on line learning but my kids either did homework in the kitchen or there rooms. Never together . I would have liked a tv there.
Evan &Kevin: I liked the wall but all the furniture and with the would made it look old too me. They said it was for the kids games but never seen no outlets etc. in that wood wall. When Nate went up the stairs you could see their laundry room was already done across from this loft. So that might be a bad thing for all the ones because the noise when washing would be bad if your watching tv…lol maybe that is what the 2 chairs are for that Lyndsey had to wait on the laundry. I liked the guys frog but not the colours but like Nate said it can be changed.
Dave& Jenny: Didn’t love the trundle bed , no way someone would want to work from that desk. Loved the huge laundry room but I’m one to sort my laundry out on the floor or in different baskets that spill out of my laundry. Plus storage to put soap and stuff is great. I’m guessing this room is down from the bedrooms too.
Next week outdoors.

I liked the guys frog but not the colours but like Nate said it can be changed.Dave& Jenny: Didn’t love the trundle bed , no way someone would want to work from that desk. Loved the huge laundry room but I’m one to sort my laundry out on the floor or in different baskets that spill out of my laundry. Plus storage to put soap and stuff is great. I’m guessing this room is down from the bedrooms too. Next week outdoors. I liked thre colors in the main area in the FROG, not so much in the bathroom. That desk looked flimsy. You need a computer on it and key board and I tend to lean on my desk at times so I can see those rope handles snapping. The desk top looked kinda small too. I too am surprised at the lack of TVs especially in the kids area and in the FROGs. I have meetings on TVs, I get all my news from TVs, and I use a TV as my computer monitor.

Rock the block
Just a couple observations
Nate and Jeremiah seemed off while they were judging. I’m not sure if they were tired or had a bad day, but they seemed a little low energy.
The wall that Keith and Evan did was amazing. I kept wondering how they made it out of scrap wood in that limited time. Their loft was my favorite loft design. My least favorite loft room was the laundry. For a room that size, I’d rather have a den or study or spa refuge.
The FROG room was a toss up for me. None of them had perfect use of space. I would have liked a little kitchen with all required appliances, a Murphy bed, a sitting area, and a serene bathroom. I would have taken items from each team. 😁

I totally get this. I have a house and what is annoying and I get this a lot are comments such as "what do you need all this space for", as if a single person should only live in a townhouse, a condo, or apartment. As if I don't deserve a house to myself as if only families deserve homes. I also get "you need to sell the house it is so expensive". Exactly where am I supposed to live? House prices and rentals are sky high all over the country. Why would I pay rent in an apartment, can't get a parking spot, have to climb stairs, deal with idiot neighbors and pay rent that increases every year?

Well if I really think about I still have to climb stairs, I still have to deal with idiot neighbors, and my property taxes go up every year, and the 10 cars per house nowadays do end up parking in front of my house but not in my driveway.

Hometown Season 6 Episode 11 - Architect's Linear Loft - March 27, 2022
Glad to see the Hometown team work in a commercial building. I liked both options and I preferred the huge open loft area of building two, I know the dog did.
Very surprised to see nothing done in the kitchen, but that was the owners preference.
Absolutely LUV'ED the full wall of cabinets. That was storage heaven. One little nit pit. It is a good idea to have your vents cleaned professionally in your home every once in a while and considering how old that building was the vents did need a good cleaning especially with all of that construction. How would someone access the vents if they are covered by wood?
The color palette was dark for my taste. I liked the linear lines of the wood slats through out the home, inside and out. But I was wondering about the shower cover. That was one open room wouldn't your guest see through the slats and see who is in the bathroom?
Pet Peeve: Most times I enjoy the little snippets into the life of people of Laurel and it was nice to see the gentleman who provided the rubbings had lost 91 pounds as he wanted to be healthier. However it is a major fallacy to state he lost all that weight by simply walking around Laurel. You cannot out exercise a bad diet.
Second nit pit: Erin stated that the outside of the building was already painted a nice royal blue and did not need to be painted however it was very apparent that on the side of the building they must have run out of paint as it is very obviously not finished. I thought that would have been taken care of in the renovation.

Rock the Block Season 3 Episode 5 - Exterior Showdown - March 28, 2022
The contestants are given an extra $1000 to do a dog related challenge.
In the beginning of this series when they judged the master bedroom suite the judges commented how nice the view of the canal was, how important that water view was. OK, then why did 3 of the 4 teams build fences that hides the view?
Egypt & Mike - no fence but the built a doghouse and everyone knows dogs don't stray.
Evan & Keith - had technical issues and put in a dog bed that warms up and a fence which the judges didn't like but there was not fence between the garage and main house so of course the dog won't leave the property.
Leslie & Lyndsey - put in a cheap ass dog rinse of station that no way cost them $1000 and looked like a crappy DIY project and they put up a fence but again no fence or gate between the garage and the house so of course the dog won't leave the property.
Dave & Jenny - made a cute sandbox out of a small boat that supposedly doubles as a doggie play area. That is questionable but the cutest looking. Again a fence around the yard, no view of the water from the master bedroom, and no fence or gate between the garage and the house so of course the dog won't leave the property.
Landscaping the front and back.
Egypt & Mike - fireplace built into porch, raised walkway connects to master bedroom patio. Outdoor kitchen. Probably best landscaped front yard, they put in two large crape myrtles and a tree.
Evan & Keith - outdoor kitchen on porch, firepit, raised veggie beds, patio with pergola off master bedroom. I personally would not have split up the small yard space with the raised veggie beds. Put those raised beds along a wall or fence and leave that tiny bit of yard space open. Fenced yard.
Leslie & Lyndsey - Pizza/oyster oven and outdoor kitchen on the porch. DIY Doggie shower. Living veggie wall on back of garage. Fenced Yard.
Dave & Jenny - Fenced yard, outdoor kitchen in yard and NOT on the porch. You actually have space on the porch unlike the other teams. Probably a good idea to put a shade structure over the outdoor kitchen.
Exteriors.
Egypt & Mike - white brick all around house.
Evan & Keith - brick skirt, cedar painted a brownish tan and blue siding on top.
Leslie & Lyndsey - garage covered in brown brick, black metal roof, siding.
Dave & Jenny - Pink siding but not pink enough.
To be honest I was not blown away by any of the teams this go round. The dog challenge was kinda stupid except they did a good job commenting on adoption and one of the puppies was a tripod so that was good supporting handicapped dogs. I find landscaping to be important and Leslie and Lyndsey disappointed by ignoring the front. A couple of trees, some srubs, and grasses and a good layout does wonders and is not that expensive. L&L's attitude that E&M stole their win because their house was all white brick and theirs was not is ridiculous. L&L ignored the front yard landscaping, had poor placement on their lighting on the garage, and made a terrible doggie wash station. I also do agree with Dave and Jenny that the side porch was an area to sit and relax in not to put in another kitchen so close to the indoors kitchen.

Rock the Block - boo to everyone who put up a fence that blocked the view of the water. Some black metal fencing in the back would secure the yard and not ruin the view...and they make gates, too! Leslie and Lyndsey - I just don't care for anything they've done, honestly. And they're annoying. The front of their house was bland, the dog wash station was lame (a hose and some big rocks for the poor dog to stand on?), and if those plants on the brick wall get afternoon sun, they'll be roasted. I've never heard of an oyster oven, but I guess that goes with the "sweet tea station" they think we all have down here. Dave and Jenny - didn't love the exterior color, too washed out. Nice back yard, but I agree the outdoor kitchen area needed a simple structure to provide cover/shade. Egypt and Mike - really nice landscaping, cute doghouse. The white brick was so pretty. Evan and Keith - the dog bed was kind of cheesy, and while I appreciate them trying to put a lot in the back, those garden beds shouldn't have been plopped in the middle of the yard.

With smaller yards becoming more the thing nowadays having some open space is hugely important especially if you entertain. Where do you put the bouncy house? What if you play corn hole, or crochet, or badminton, or want a small open area for a dog or children? But on the other hand there is a need for privacy fences I totally get it and you need one if you do have a dog. The back fence along the canal should be either some kind of modern wire or clear glass as what is the point of having a water view if you need to put a fence up? If Jenny wanted pink she should have gone pink. I totally enjoy going south in country and to the islands and seeing the brightly colored houses. That is the place to do it. I wonder with next week's episode being the finale will they have time to fix any mistakes? I appreciate it when they do that.

Rock the Block:
The dog challenge was hard , what do people have in the backyards just for there dog but fences so they can run and not get out. Yes I noticed they didn’t put a gate where the front porch and garage is. It could be an iron one so you can still see in and won’t change colour. I like the kitchen was outside on the porch. Don’t people have their bbq’s on their decks outside the kitchen. Plus it is covered so you can do it in the rain if you want.
My favourite this week was the guys. Only thing I would change is the vegetable boxes. They should have been along the fence so you have some open grass spot. Really like the colours of the house too. To bad I don’t like the inside. Why would a dog need a heated bed outside?
Egypt &Mike: I really didn’t like the all White House and were there blocked out windows at rather back. I like brick just not this one Color one. All those patio slabs took space in the back yard. Their table is going to be out in the sun same as Jenny’s. I think the fireplace closed in the porch I preferred the fire pit but I guess you could use it in the rain. I liked that they connected house and garage but that meant they have to have guests go around back by the other side of the garage.
Jenny&Dave: I didn’t like the pink at all and the batten board. It isn’t going to age well. I too don’t want the hot tub and how will that tv fair in the rain, all the wood is going to change colour with the weather doesn’t it. It does here fences turn gray. The boat would have to go but that is and isn’t on them. They too have the table and bbq in the sun.
Lesley&Linsey: I was ok with the front but the back no. Who was a gravel walkway around the backyard with the table on the grass in the middle . Those chairs are going to sink . Just no to that wall thing. Can’t even reach most of it. The oven thing was so ugly.
So they all but one house have these french doors x 2 on the front but are people going to use them. Do they open in or out. Don’t think they would look nice open and like the ones off the kitchen ,are you scared bugs and flies are coming in with no screens. That unmoving water behind them is a good breeding ground for misquotes.
People are saying you can’t see the water, that doesn’t both me I probably would be looking at it much anyway but that is just me. I did notice the guys did have different fence on the back so you could some what see it. I would want the fence . The houses are pretty close together.
Can’t believe next week is the final. I wish we got to see them do all the rooms. Or like the Australia one they get to fix anything they think was a problem.
