They invite a production company to make a film inside the house. Julian Fellowes must be sitting on years of stories from filming the show that he could use in the script...

Having watched things like "The Filming of Downton Abbey," I seem to remember tales of Lady Carnarvon ("Lady Mary") making very strict rules about even placing items on their tables. LOL.

I've heard that Laura Carmichael as an absolute sweetheart, so I'm glad to hear she's in a (hopefully!) happy relationship.

I had heard they were in a relationship but forgot. I saw an interview with Laura and Michelle. Laura was saying how wonderful he is. I don't remember the exact phrasing she used but it was very sweet.

I won't believe it until there's an official announcement, but it looks like we might be getting more Downton!

Ooooo I'm cautiously optimistic! I know! Apparently, a reporter asked Michelle Dockery about it on a red carpet and she was super coy, like, "I have no idea," but laughing while she said it.
I want to believe the story is true, but it IS the Daily Mail.

Looks like it's real! ‘Downton Abbey’ Sequel Movie Confirmed By Imelda Staunton; Actress Says It Will Be “Final” ChapterMarch 20, 2024 9:09am Downton Abbey is getting a “final” chapter, according to Imelda Staunton. The actress, who played Queen Mary’s lady-in-waiting Lady Maud Bagshaw in the first two films, has confirmed reports that a third movie is in the works. Asked about Downton Abbey rumors by BBC Radio 2 breakfast show host Zoe Ball, Staunton said: “There will be the final film – there you go.” Ball joked that she hoped Staunton was not going to get into trouble for the revelation, to which the actress replied: “I don’t care.” Julian Fellowes’ wildly successful period drama started life as a television series on ITV in 2011. It went on to spawn six seasons and two movies, helping put British drama on the map internationally. Staunton’s comments followed a report in The Sun on Wednesday, which claimed that the third movie will film at Highclere Castle over the summer and premiere next year. The Sun also reported that The Holdovers star Paul Giamatti could reprise his role as Harold Levinson, the brother of the Countess of Grantham, after he appeared in the 2013 Christmas special. Speaking ahead of the release of Downton Abbey: A New Era in 2022, Fellowes said cast and crew have struggled to let go of the franchise. “They say goodbye, everyone cries, and two years later we’re back at it,” he told the Radio Times. “I think each time it’s goodbye, but whether it is or not, who knows?” Carnival Films and NBCUniversal have been contacted for comment. Downton Abbey: A New Era grossed nearly $93M worldwide, while the first movie made $195M in 2019, according to Box Office Mojo.

They could do that any time, just fast-forward about 10 years or to WW2 and use some agey makeup on everyone, lol.
Honestly I don't think Julian Fellowes has to be the writer, he stretches plots pretty thin and make people talk too much exposition. Someone else could get a little more action going, lol.

I will miss the Dowager Countess, Violet was the best character ever, but I am always happy to have access to the rest of the family. I am actually giddy with excitement

It's not Downton Abbey: The Next Generation - it's a prequel!
I like Ella Purnell, but I can't see her playing Violet. I do like Emily Carey though. I thought she did a great job as the young Alicent on HOTD. They do a pretty great job casting DA, so I'll trust them to find the right actress.
