One of the prisons they mention is the Texarkana Federal Prison. I already know a "good Christian gentleman" who is imprisoned there for similar charges. Maybe they can get together and "encourage one another" during this difficult time. Losers.

Not making excuses for people but Busey has had extensive brain damage that has really affected his behavior for years. For cases like this he needs help, not jail. A con ban would also be in order as well.

Not sure where to post this, but I figured more people would see this here than in the podcast thread in GD. Job Bernthal has a podcast called Real Ones and today I was listening to the episode with Sarah Wayne Callies (Lori on TWD). They, of course, talked about their time on The Walking Dead, but they talked quite a lot about sexual harassment in Hollywood and experiences she's dealt with in her career. I thought it was a really good conversation. It was disappointing to hear how many bad experiences she dealt with on the set of Prison Break (and NONE at TWD!)
Anyway, I thought it was a really good discussion about a difficult topic.
Note: if you're not down with swearing, this might not be for you.

Epstein who for years maintained that the law professor Alan Dershowitz sexually assaulted her when she was a teenager, settled a defamation lawsuit against Mr. Dershowitz on Tuesday, and said that she may have made a mistake in accusing him.In a joint statement announcing the settlement, Ms. Giuffre said that while she had long believed she was trafficked to Mr. Dershowitz by Mr. Epstein, she was young at the time and was in a stressful and traumatic environment. She noted that Mr. Dershowitz had denied the allegations consistently and said that she recognized she may have made a mistake. The joint statement also included comments from Mr. Dershowitz, who commended Ms. Giuffre for her courage in saying she may have been mistaken.

Mmmmmm, I'm wondering whether her statement was just part of the "settlement." The way it usually works is tit for tat. In this case, I suspect that she gets some (a lot?) of money and he gets her statement that maybe she was mistaken.

I may be late in finding this out, but Josh Harris from Deadliest Catch has been fired by Discovery Channel. When he was 15 or 16, he raped a 4-year-old girl. He got some time in Juvie, counseling, and community service.
I suspect he thought that his juvenile records would be sealed and no one would ever find out. Wrong. Not sure who, but maybe his victim (who is now in her late twenties) started telling what happened.
Always thought he was a narcissistic jerk. I guess I was right.

A con ban would also be in order as well. Yeah, Busey's been in a downward spiral for a very long time since that extensive brain damage. As you said, no excuses for his behavior---it was wrong and the women have every right to expect the charges to stick---but I wish whoever is handling his appearances etc. would start worrying a bit more about him and a bit less about the money. BTW, the article said he was at an autograph event with Veronica Cartwright, Ralph Macchio, and Tom Skerritt. Is it just me, or does that seem like an odd foursome to anyone else?

WHOA is RIGHT ......... they went from a mistrial when they first tried DM and the disappointment was staggering as the proof was there. Then this NEW trial and he is sentenced to 30 years. THANKING THIS JUDGE ....... as this JUDGE has sent a HUGE MESSAGE to scumbag RAPISTS!!!!! As well as the fact you might be a celebrity but that does NOT mean you are ABOVE THE LAW!!!!! APPEARS the Scientologists RAN from any help they were going to give DM. LEAH REMINI is clapping for sure.

I wonder what made him different? Scientologists are known to take care of their own, but is there a certain point when they're just like "nope" and leave the person out to twist?

I wonder what made him different? Scientologists are known to take care of their own, but is there a certain point when they're just like "nope" and leave the person out to twist? One of the things I read was that the victims reported the rapes and told others about what happened right after it happened. They had witnesses from 20+ years ago to corroborate the stories. They also had witnesses who testified about what Scientology did to these women to try to prevent them from going to the police. I'm not sure what other evidence was presented.
I hope this is the start of Scientology's downfall. That's probably a tall order, but I can still hope.
