I enjoyed the premiere of Manifest too. I liked the cast and thought the premise was promising. Now if they can just not screw it up! I bailed out of Lost a few seasons in because it just got too convoluted and silly. If the showrunners have everything planned out and don't get too complicated, I think Manifest could be great. The concept is solid. You can keep it simple and it'll still be compelling TV.
New Amsterdam wasn't great, but I'll probably continue to watch, if only for Ryan Eggold. It's not groundbreaking TV or anything and a bit predictable, as that review posted above said. I thought it was also total fantasyland. Those kinds of changes just wouldn't happen in a hospital and definitely not that quickly: there's too much bureaucracy. Also, getting rid of the waiting room is a dumb idea. You actually DO need a room for people to wait in. Yes, work on get patients in quicker, but why does that require removing the waiting room?
Magnum PI was just okay for me. Good brainless TV, but it doesn't stand up against the original. I like Jay Hernandez, but I'm not sold on the show yet.

That's pretty much what I told my mom about it. It doesn't stand up to the original... yet. I felt the same way about Macgyver and they won me over. I'm willing to wait for this cast and show to improve as well. I have good hopes they will because I like both new Macgyver and new Hawaii 5-0. I did love that it's the same universe as Hawaii 5-0 (I assume Macgyver too). I liked seeing 5-0's ME and hoping for more crossovers of some of their more minor characters. I almost did not catch who the food vendor was at the end. I'm generally terrible about noticing details like that so I'm quite proud of myself for figuring it out!

I agree the old one was better, but we had years with it. This is still new, as are the actors playing characters we already know. Of course we're going to compare them to the former actors. Just so they don't go ultra violent with the show. The old version seemed to hold the line OK on that, at least usually. That's one thing I don't like on TV lately. The over the top violence. That will get me to tune out a show for good. I just don't like extreme, or gruesome violence, or violence against women. That's not entertainment to me. And ultimately, that's why I watch TV, to be entertained.

I don't mind violence as long as it's not really sadistic. I stopped watching The Following in the second season because I felt like the violence against women was simply an attempt to be provocative, but didn't really advance the story at all. That being said, Banshee was one of my favorite shows ever and it was crazy over-the-top violent. At least on that show, the women gave as good as (or better than) they got.
Speaking of fun cameos....did anyone else catch that quick shot of Peter Horton as one of the cardiac surgeons fired at the beginning of New Amsterdam? I thought, "YAY! Maybe this means he's going to come back to acting!" Nope. I looked it up and he's a producer on the show. Fun to see him though, if only for a few seconds.

I thought Manifest was just ok. The premise is interesting, and if they had focussed more on them reintegrating in society I would be good. There should have been more issues with them coming back - it has been five years - life, politics, technology have advanced - but that aspect seemed to be shoved mostly in the background, with just some issues about partners having entered new relationships. And also more focus on finding on what happened - the passengers didn’t really even seem that interested in finding out, which seems off. The whole hearing voices plotline, which seems to be the major one they will be following, and which took up a good portion of the show, holds no real interest.

Rather than Lost, with the evidence of "powers" this seems more like a version of the 4400.
Did the plane blow itself up with all to witness? Now, that might suggest higher power. And the scripture quote that seems to be the glue for them all to come together.

Any opinions on the premier of Murphy Brown? I liked it & will watch again, possibly regularly, but it's quite politicized. Granted, it's about a newswoman & her views were always mentioned in the original, but right now there are just too many darned political advertisements, with the election coming up. I really didn't care to hear more political rhetoric. They did manage to make the jokes & comments funny. I liked that.
All in all, Murphy & crew are pretty much the same as we remember them, but older & wiser. It was nice seeing all of them again, with a grown up Avery. I liked Hillary's cameo as the secretary applicant. It was funny.

Murphy Brown was always politicized, and they never hid their views on the show, so I would expect more of the same.
I thought it was okay, but to me it has the same problem that the old show had -- too often, they present issues in a sort of precious and naive way, and only skim the surface of them. The show was at its peak when they capitalized on Dan Quayle's comments about Murphy having a baby, because they showed a side of childbirth and new motherhood that was real and hilariously human. But when they go back to the Issue Of The Week, I don't feel like they are saying a whole lot that hasn't already been said. The dialogue is always witty, but there isn't always a lot of depth behind it.
I don't see this revival lasting as long as other ones, but I'm glad they're giving it a shot.

I loved it but I loved the original. I loved Murphy's relationship with Avery the most. I think it started a little slow comedic wise but got in full swing by the end I will definitely keep watching. I'm so happy it's on Thursday and not Tuesday.

Watch A million things and I'm kind of on the fence. I love the Male cast all from shows or Movies I really liked. The evolution of the characters is what I'm not sure of. I feel like I wished we had the Jon character a little more to tie to before we moved to the aftermath. It's like a mix of This is us and Desperate Housewives.

I really like shows with ensemble casts, and so I was really looking forward to A Million Little Things, in the same way that I loved "30 Something," "Brothers and Sisters," etc. But so far, I was really disappointed in A Million Little Things. I agree with you, Mika, cause I too wish they had given us an episode or two to get to know the characters and the relationships better, before they killed off one of the major characters. I didn't like that the first episode felt essentially like I was attending a funeral for someone I didn't know. I'll watch another episode or two to see if the show catches fire, but I don't really have high hopes for it. But speaking of ensemble casts, I did see an ensemble cast comedy that was kinda cute -- The Cool Kids (on Fox). Takes place in a retirement home for seniors, and stars David Alan Grier, Vicki Lawrence, Martin Mull, Jamie Farr (from MASH) and other familiar faces. I also enjoyed Murphy Brown --- I wasn't the biggest fan of the original show years ago, but somehow the re-boot is closer to my heart because they're all much older now (as am I!!!) and there's something about that, that I like and can relate to.

Did anyone else watch "God Friended Me"? I hadn't intended to, based on previews, but it was just on after 60 Minutes and I was too busy doing other things to change the channel. It was good! I thought it was going to be some dumb comedy, hokey or stupid, but it's not. I really like the characters and the actors, and the whole "karma" thing. It's kind of a modern spin to this feel-good type of story, with the social media tie-in.
I was pleasantly surprised! I hope it continues to be as interesting and thought-provoking as it was in the 1st episode. It's a nice show!

I was hoping I would like Rel more it has the comedians to make for a great comedy but the writing is terrible...

Million Little Things was the only new show I was really looking forward to. I really like the cast but I was disappointed. I love Ron Livingston so it sucks he is the one that died. Hopefully he pops in often because we definitely needed more of him to build any sort of connection. Although we have seen this before, it did grab my attention when it was revealed the best friend was having an affair with his wife. Most pilots are hit or miss. They try and cram everything in to set up the characters and stories. So I won't hold it against them, I am in for another few episodes.
I wasn't planning on watching New Amsterdam, but after reading your reviews I gave it a shot. Ryan Eggold is great as always. But I don't see myself sticking with it. Grey's Anatomy seems to be the only medical drama to hook me. I gave up on The Resident after a few episodes last year too and I love me some Matt Czuchry! I'll probably give another episode a shot.

Watched The Neighborhood and Happy Together on CBS. A fun light hour of comedy to start the week. I’m a big fan of Tichina Arnold, and she was great as the wife on The Neighborhood. They nicely sprinkled in some truths along with the humor. Was pleasantly surprised by the 2nd half hour with Happy Together. It’s quite cute! I’m enjoy these sweet, human shows this season.

Why does there have to be so much I watch on Monday's . For some reason Manifest keeps not recording even though I have nothing in the middle of the night competing with it.
Feel like I'm sitting in front of the TV forever catching up.
Million Little Pieces was a repeat last night?
I did catch the two comedys on CBS they are really cute and funny . Loved on Happy Together the phone messages.

Hubby and I couldn't stop laughing at "Single People". Hilarious. Highly recommend. The way the writers incorporate the kids in the banter is VERY funny.
Saw New Amsterdam and I liked it for the first episode. But i'd watch anything with Ryan in it as I loved him from Black List.
Watched The Cool Kids. It was ok. There were some funny parts but compared to "Single Parents", this didn't compare.

Officially gave up on New Amsterdam. Just not my speed.
Episode 2 of Million Little Things was better than Ep. 1. There is a define spark missing from the show. It's trying a little too hard and needs to just be. I'm in for Ep. 3.

So still really loving Murphy Brown. 2nd episode was way more like the old ones. The relationship with her son is really the star of the show though. It may not last but I'm in to watch whatever episodes there are.

I like the new show, but miss Jim. That being said.. of course I will keep watching, but I still think "Why don't you go back to your double-wide and fry something" when she gets huffy, lol.
