I'll have to watch it, but how are you going to have Halloween Wars without pumpkins? My guess is they could not find enough skilled carvers that haven't already been on the show.

Poor Shantelle on Halloween Baking Championship. You were a fav but this is the third week that you didn't finish decorating your dessert! You desserts always were the tastiest but you have to know how to use time management! You belong to the lake now.
Still a lot of talented folks on here but my favs are Gulliermo and Megan and I hope they go to the end.

The judges really praised the taste of her cakes but I think it only got her so far with yet another cake that failed on the decorating. I like Guillermo too. I think he is improving every episode. I had a great idea for the red licorice. Shred it, put it on the cake and say that the killer turns the victim's flesh into hamburger.

Whoa... this would blow out a big piece of the channel's tapestry... -------------------------- Bobby Flay Set To Leave Food Network After 27 Years - DeadlineBy Denise Petski October 7, 2021 4:44pm Celebrity chef and Food Network star Bobby Flay is set to leave the Discovery-owned cable channel after talks on a new contract broke down, sources confirmed to Deadline. According to Variety, which first reported the news, Flay’s contract expires at the end of the year, at which time Flay will exit. Talks had been ongoing but both sides were far apart on financial terms. The development comes on the heels of Food Network closing a massive new deal with another long-time star, Guy Fieri, in May. The massive new three-year contract is said to be worth $80 million and more than doubled Fieri’s previous deal to make him the top-paid chef on cable TV. Deadline has reached out to both Food Network and Flay’s representative for comment. Flay has been with Food Network since 1994, the cable channel’s first year on-air. Since then he has hosted numerous series and specials including the original Grillin’ and Chillin’ and more recently Beat Bobby Flay and Brunch at Bobby’s. He also has appeared on several Food Network game shows including Chopped, Iron Chef America, Worst Cooks in America, The Best Thing I Ever Ate and The Next Food Network Star, among others. He also recently hosted The Flay List series with his daughter Sophie. Flay is the owner and executive chef of several restaurants including Amalfi in Las Vegas, Gato in New York and Bobby’s Burger Palace, with locations in eleven states. An author of several cookbooks, he also has been featured on the Great Chefs television series. -------------------------- If this ultimately is a pissing match between Flay and Fieri, I wish it was Fieri who was leaving. I mostly don't watch his shows.

My brother will be devastated. He hates Fieri, but worships Flay.

I like them both and want them to stay. Food Network better pay Bobby Flay his money!

What I'm wondering is, if Flay still wants to be on TV, where can he go? Food Network and every other food-based and home/garden channel is owned by Discovery. He'd probably have to strike a deal with Netflix or Amazon.
Maybe he's tired of TV and wants to focus on his restaurant empire, who knows...

I think he's tired of "Beat Bobby Flay" and wants to do more things like "The Flay List" and "Bobby and Giada in Italy." He liked doing Iron Chef as well until the day he didn't, and he quit. I don't remember him giving FN that much notice either. In addition to that, he has a boatload of fans that will follow him where ever he goes. My guess is Netflix because they have deep pockets and enough cooking shows that it wouldn't be strange.

Ooop, the shoe drops. According to the NY Post Discovery stopped negotiating with Flay and not the other way around. Considering how they just gave Guy 80 million AND Bobby helped put FN on the map in the first place this is shady as hell. I hope he gets a better deal with Netflix.

Halloween Baking Championship. Well..... {I said I wouldnt care who won but....} I really was let down with Renee winning. She is good of course, but she had her shot on her season. I never liked that they brought back past contestants. The plus her brain looked and tasted bad.

NGL, I tuned out the instant they dismissed Megan. I was really rooting for her and Guillermo and it was my worst nightmare to have both of them on the bottom. I was also pissed that lil Miss Adina could hardly contain her glee when Megan went to the lake. It's not the first time she's smirked with glee over someone leaving either; she makes beautiful bakes but her personality is extremely off-putting.
{Mess} I like Renee so I'm not horribly upset that she won, but I'm guessing she was invited to come back because so many nutjobs on the FN FB page were saying the person who won on her season was only because of "political correctness" (and not, you know, that she was a great baker) and that Renee should have won. They said that she won by "a slim margin" but I think this was more of a redemption thing.

I just felt that the winner had an edge going it because of what you said and it wasn't fair to the others. {Spoiler} I felt bad for Adina and Guillermo.... this was their contest. Will one of them be back next season? Both? Is this a new trend?

Holiday Baking Championship - I'm going to need the Irish guy to stick around, I absolutely love his accent. He seems really talented, as do several others. Hopefully it's a good season! Am I the only one who's never heard of Manchego cheese?

Am I the only one who's never heard of Manchego cheese? I like him too! He reminds me of someone I used to know. They are a talented group and pretty much everything looked really good. I knew about that cheese from a Brazilian barbecue place. It is delicious.

I like Bobby so I am glad he is staying. I do think that Guy has too many shows on ….I guess I must be in the minority as they keep adding him to the schedule....but I do prefer a variety of people hosting....not just Guy.

Halloween Baking Championship: Those bread sculptures were amazing last night. I really enjoy the guy that kind of reminds me of Little Richard because he is simply delightful. The Irish guy is great too. There should be a rule though that if you circle the drain too many times you get flushed, so tired of that person getting spared every week despite constantly 1. making rookie mistakes and b. not improving.

Guy has been using his son, Hunter, as a cast member over the past year. This week he was a judge (for the first time) on Grocery Games.

Holiday Baking Championship - I laughed when they did "dreaded holiday desserts" for the second part and listed stuff like creme brulee, bread pudding, sugar cookies, banana pudding...what?? I love all that stuff! Even the damn fruitcake and eggnog. It still seems like Adam and Jody are the frontrunners, though Jody did stumble this week. And I don't know why, but Nancy's been getting on my nerves lately.

Someone needs to do an intervention with Nancy, she gets too excited at alcohol in the desserts. I miss Lorraine and her thinly veiled dislike of Nancy and vice versa.

ccl. You’re right about Lorraine, it was funny watching her face. Jody is my favorite this season. He reminds me of the guys in Ireland that I work with.

Just getting around to watching the first season of Holiday Baking Championship. Lorraine annoys me. I suspect she annoyed a lot of the bakers as well.

Yeah, I like Lorraine, probably because she's so picky and British! I'll also always respect her for knowing modeling had a shelf life and going into another career; her cookbooks are bestsellers in Europe and the baking ones are exceptionally good.
I'm not mad at Hunter taking on a bigger part in Guy's Grocery Games. This is like the FN version of people who have a family grocery store having their children work the register after school. Guy's extremely grateful for everything he has, and now that his son is older why not pay him to be on the show and maybe make some college or car money? It's not like he insisted his son be a producer or something he's not qualified to do!

Kids Baking Championship started again on Monday. It's the youngest cast they've ever had, including an 8-year-old. In addition to being young, the cast is mostly girls -- only a few boys made the cut. The first challenge was easy enough, butterfly cakes (make a cake, slice it in half and reverse the pieces so it's shaped like a butterfly). There were mixed results, with a few standouts and a couple of outright messes. I think decorating in general may be a weakspot again this season, it's becoming a trend. Duff and Val are adorable together, as usual. She's great at wiping away the kids' tears, and he's always ready with another dad joke. I don't know if I'd watch this show as faithfully if either of them decided to leave. Luckily, Val just signed a new contract with Food Network so I don't think that's a worry. The 'youngest cast' thing is an interesting twist, but the 8-year-old was already in the bottom two in week 1, so we'll see how it plays out. Chopped was new last night as well, a good pasta-themed episode. Although I don't remember much after they opened the first basket, and one of the ingredients was "Sunday Gravy" (a pot of meatballs and sauce). I didn't care what the chefs created, I just wanted to grab the pot and dig in.
