I knew Lyndsy was going to win the Halloween Baking Championship...she's been so good all season. Michelle's mermaid cake at the end was a mess. Jamal's cake was good, but the cutouts and goofy running man at the top didn't help him. On to the Holiday Baking shows!

I can honestly say I have never watched the Food Network. Until yesterday. When I was in such a funk and sad space, I binged watched the entire Halloween Baking Championship and enjoyed every second of it. What an adorable show. This brought my spirits up and got me out of my funk. I am going to have this network on in the background all day now while I work as it brings a smile to my face. Can't wait for the Holiday Baking Championship.

I remember her saying something about a dead twin. I've liked all three finalists all season but imo the right person won because the whole design was ace, plus it tasted good too. Jamal's cake tasted great but the design was a little lackluster. He's done those zombies before.
Watched the Finale of Halloween Wars and was deeply disappointed by who was picked to be the winner, especially since the other team had such a detailed display plus the dessert was great.

It was a mermaid and her dead twin with half a head or something. It looked like a mess to me. I just didn't see it at all.

The Ultimate Thanksgiving Challenge is on right now and I recognize a few of these contestants from Guy's Grocery Games, lol.

Isn't one of the judges (at least from the commercial) a runner-up on Food Network Star?

I'm not sure, but the wonderful Carla Hall is also a judge on this show, hootie hoo!

Food Network - my fav - does actually rotate contestants from show to show. For example, just watched guys grocery games featuring a guy that was just on the new show for Bite Club Tyler Florence's new show.

I know. Familiar faces - where I can't quite pinpoint where I last saw them - happen all the time on that network.

Alex Guarnaschelli is also on the show making that sweet Food Network money. Being an Iron Chef definitely opens up a lot of doors for you on this network (as well as it's sister network The Cooking Channel). Having a great personality and being easy to work with also goes a long way, because I've never heard anyone say a bad word about Carla or Duff.

So happy to have the Holiday Baking Championship back!! Yes, I am watching the cookie baking show as well. Actually thought that the first show for the cookies was quite good. There wasn't the manic assembly of a final item like I saw last year. The macaroons with the peanut butter and marshmallows looked yummy. I kind of wanted to try the spicy chocolate crinkles too.
I love yule logs. For the most part, the logs looked great. There is never enough brandy, ever. These judges really like their booze. The twists were a little quirky for me, but some looked like they worked. Gets me into the holiday baking mode.

I noticed that Julia (the Brazilian that sounds like Rosie Perez) and another contestant on the Holiday Baking Championship were on last year's Christmas Cookie Challenge, lol.
And speaking of that show it's back on as well! The whole "Christmas in the Tropics" challenge truly inspired the bakers to make some lovely cookies.

I'm watching Holiday Baking Championship and Sherry Clarke is already getting on my nerves. She keeps talking about how she is adding Canada to her dishes. No disrespect to Canada. It's a wonderful country. In the past, there was a contestant who kept putting Kentucky into her recipes. It's one thing to be proud of where you are from. It's another thing to become repetitive on tv.

Poor Nolan, that stuffed cake of his was a disaster on a plate. He always seemed to have time management issues, even with the pie challenge...
That glazed stuffed cake by Douglas, though - wow. That was one of the prettiest things I've seen on this show.

Douglas has some talent! He's an culinary instructor from a tiny town (Ayer) near me in Massachusetts. So, I'm rooting for him. Two wins in a row, things are looking good!

I thought the pie challenge was interesting, and it gave me some ideas for my own pies. (No, I'm not going to mix different types together in the same shell.) Douglas' cake made me drool. That was all kinds of yumminess. Nolan's was a hot mess. Dan was having time issues too. I hope Dan figures it out.

They're having some really fun challenges on the Christmas Cookie Challenge. The preheat was to make a cookie you could eat on a stick. The second was design a stand up cookie stocking and make cookies you could fit inside. I was torn between the Bat boot woman and the one that had the prettiest display but I was quite pleased with the winner.

There was a show called Holiday Wars (based on Halloween Wars) in which cake and sugar were featured. Jon Bennett was the host like on the Halloween show)and Shinmen (also Halloween Wars) and Jason Smith were the judges. The format was the same. What was weird is that four teams fought through two challenges in order for one team to win $25,000. I don't think there is another episode. I set up my DVR to pick up any future and none shows. Why just one? Weird.
And then following that is another Gingerbread Challenge in the same format as Halloween Gingerbread Challenge only with a Christmas theme. What was fun was seeing them weave Adam ( winner of Best Baker in America) into the judging panel. With this show there will be 3 or 4 more episodes as the winner of each episode advances to a finale.

I watched Holiday Wars and was surprised there was only one episode planned. Still enjoyed it but it seemed very rushed. I love all these holiday challenges they have.

I'm just now recording the Gingerbread competition show. I want to get inspired to make my own gingerbread houses/structures. I loved this weeks Holiday baking. Those cakes looked yummy. Eggnog as the custard sounds so good to me.

I was very sad to see Julia go. She was such a ball of sweetness, and judging by the responses when she was eliminated well-liked.

I love all the baking competitions! The cookie one, the gingerbread and Holiday ones are fun to watch and make me feel like rushing into the kitchen to start baking something!
