Nicola Walker is one of my favorite actresses. I have watched her in so many great series, that I forget she isn't a personal friend. Great work in every series that she does. Last Tango in Halifax, The Split, Unforgotten, etc. But, I really enjoyed Annika! At the end of the The Split, Nicola/Hannah looks right at the audience, sharing a knowing look (acknowledging that all is well), with us. That feeling, that she is talking to you personally, is prevalent throughout Annika, because she is...... and it takes you right into the show. I look forward to season 2! I wish there was another episode of LTIP. My all time favorite, and brilliant acted by everyone.

My husband pointed out to me this morning that we have PBS passport app on our TV and it is on there! I had no idea. His curiosity of our streaming services paid off yet again!

I was able to watch both shows on the PBS passport and what a wonderful evening I had. Of course, Miss Scarlet and the Duke was just as good as I remember. I am curious about the young and inept detective the saddled Wellington with. I kept thinking he would prove himself. I guess there is still time.
I was suprised by how much I like Magpie Murders. At first, I wasn't sure how I liked the way we had pretty much 3 storylines, but half way through I was completely engrossed. Can't wait for next week.

Annika is very good also, although the first episode is a little more gritty than the others coming up. Probably better to watch Annika during the day, than evening. If you are a monthly PBS donor and have passport, you should be able to watch the entire season of Miss Scarlet. If you do not donate, then you should still be able to watch each episode after it airs on the PBS app. Passport Subscribers do not always get to watch every episode in advance, just the ones PBS decides to allow us to stream. That comes in handy for shows like Miss Scarlet, All Creatures, etc. But, even if not a subscriber, the PBS app will still let you to stream the show after it airs. I think the same night even. I will add that the next episode of Miss Scarlet and the Duke is adorable. I love these two working together, and in competition. I am glad that you were able to catch up libgirl2! I love a good mystery, but especially when the characters can mix a little humor into each episode, which is what you get with Miss Scarlet and the Duke.

Magpie Murders: Susan smokes like a chimney, and hallucinates. What the heck is she smoking? At least we know from seeing her sister Katie meeting with Alan (chatting her up over coffee), how Susan’s parents got in the book. He really was a sly, nasty character. When Susan realized that Alan was writing about her, and her family, I thought, what creative plot twists. I never read the book (Susan Ryeland series), although I know someone who shared quite a bit of the plot with me. Anthony Horowitz is a gifted, creative writer.

I know!!! We are so used to having to wait a year, right? Well, we also have "Call the Midwife Christmas Special" episode coming up on December 25th. Which occurs each year on that night both in US and Great Britain.

Finished Magpie Murders. I forget that I should fast forward a bit on these shows as many times they air little behind the scene bits with the actors, producers, or writers. I didn't realize it until episode four that author Anthony Horowitz was doing commentary of how the series was set up, it was fascinating to hear him talk as he is very enthusiastic about the story and how to present it.
Liked the wrap up, seeing Susan walking with Atticus through the village and listening to "whodunit" was pleasant and satisfying.
What I like about the Brit series is that you get very good character actors who know how to act. The actors themselves are not fantastic looking plastic Hollywood dolls. They are real people and I like that the characters are older, God Forbid, Hollywood would use an older female as lead role. When you think about it many of the actors on the British shows are not that good looking, not that young, but they are brilliant performers and you get drawn into the stories and into the lives of the characters. These folks would never get cast on an American show yet we as a country admire the older British female actors such as Judy Dench or Helen Mirren, in fact put them on a pedestal.

Season 3 is very good as well. I enjoyed each episode, and still wanted more of Scarlet and the Duke. Anyone who has PBS Passport can watch the entire third season now.

Call the Midwife Holiday Special 2022, December 25 at ET9/8CT. I think it airs a second time immediately after too. Or, at least it does in Iowa.
“It is December 1967 and with Christmas fast approaching, life in Poplar is returning to normal after the terrible train crash. “

This was the first Christmas special that I didn't sob uncontrollably but I did tear up. I was really glad that they went back to Susan and her family. And Miss Higgins and her recorder! The look on everyone's faces, especially Sister Monica Joan, was priceless. I do think they are going to need some more nuns. Always a wonderful way to spend Christmas night.
