Yes, I am sorry to see both Sr Hilda and Sr Francis leave. The actress that played Sr Francis (Ella Bruccoleri ) has also appeared in the last season of All Creatures Great and Small. (Episode of pig with boil on head, and Tristan sent to lance the boil). Also she appeared at the dance. Her reason for leaving is she has been offered other rolls. I will miss her.

I really liked her. And Sr. Hilda had such an interesting backstory that I wanted to know more about.

Just a reminder that All Creatures Great and Small New Season Premiere is Sundays, Jan. 8–Feb. 19, 2023, 9/8c, on MASTERPIECE on PBS. (Episode 1: A missing ring is just one snag as James and Helen’s wedding date approaches. For one thing, a farmer’s cow may have TB.) Also premiering this Sunday will be Season 3 of Miss Scarlet and the Duke at 8/7C. (Episode 1: When a magician vanishes into thin air, Eliza is hired to investigate, despite the fact that Duke is already on the case.) Somthing to look forward to again!

I cut myself off from Christina and Home Town over on HGTV, I needed a break especially from Christina and all of her health problems and her throwing in the viewers how rich she is how how many boyfriends/husbands she has. HomeTown really annoyed me with the MacMasion they bought and call their cottage in the country. Looking forward to both Eliza and Inspector Oskar Rheinhardt on my Sundays.

Enjoyed it very much Az in order to watch the extra seasons, we have to pay extra. We might just do that, and cancel Netflix.

I'm loving Vienna Blood, but I miss Miss Lydgate. I do not want Max to get back with Clara!!!! lol I feel the same way. I am not a Clara fan at all. I didn't realize that the original actress that played Miss Lydgate in season 1, had been replaced in season 2. I tired too see if she will make a reappearance in season 3, but all I could find was that she was expected to return. It's fine that Clara wants to be a reporter, I just don't want her to be with Max.
Lucy Griffiths the actress that played Amelia Lydgate in season 2 is so gorgeous. I want him to be with the scientist, not a reporter. He felt passion for Amelia, not brotherly fondness for Clara.

I just read this delightful interview with the daughter and son of the real life James Herriot (Alfred Wight). They were asked some interesting questions of their growing up with the real life characters the books are based on. Very enjoyable if you are fans of All Creatures Great and Small. Son and Daughter share their memories of growing up.

Lovely article. Thanks for sharing, Mikesgirl. Last night's episode....wow! I cried throughout. I'd never read the books, nor seen any of the previous series, so this is all new to me. Poor Siegfried. What a traumatic end to the war. I'm glad he was able to convince the racehorse owner not to put River down. What a magnificent animal! Loved the end scene where Siegfried is galloping away; so beautiful!

I hated that one man, he came over on the boat with the horse, I'd of liked to have taken the crop to him.

I know, Fanny. Wasn't there some line spoken by Siegfried about man's inhumanity?
I never knew that is what happened to the horses after the end of World War I. 😞

Why not give them to the people if they didn't want to spend the money to bring them home?

River was terrified of the crop. I understood that he could not be a race horse because other riders would still use their crops in competitions, but couldn't he have been used as a stud? What a sad, cruel treatment of animals. Holding the attitude that they are useless, if they can't do what an owner expects of them. I loved the triumphant ending too. Thank goodness the show creators have brought this series back to not only delight us, but sooth and warm are hearts during these past few, difficult pandemic years.

Thank goodness.

Yep! This video definitely put a smile on my face (and I'm still smiling)! Usually, I don't like to see 'real world' stuff while I'm watching a series, cause I like to pretend it's all true but in this case, this video was totally heart warming! PS Every time the video pans over the English landscape I am in awe of how beautiful it is!

All Creatures Great and Small was so heartbreaking with the scenes between Mrs. Hall and Edward. When those cookies fell, I lost it. I'm so glad there was some kind of reconciliation.
That little boy was a doll. I liked how Siegfried was not looking forward to having some kid at the office which turned into him beaming at him with pride.
Tristan looks good in an apron.

Lol totally agree! I love this show so much. For some reason I thought Edward always referred to her son, I didn’t realize until watching that episode, that her husband Edward was still alive. I assumed Mrs Hall husband had died and that she thought she could never marry again. It wasn’t until this episode, that I realized both husband and son are named Edward, and she believed marriage was for life. I’m hoping that before the end of this season, she will be able to accept that her marriage to her husband Edward is really over and be able to move on.

Thank you AZ! So all the time she was talking about Edward (son) being a drunk, it really was her son. Her husband then, Robert, was also a drunk because of his experiences in the war and trying to drown the memories. I guess it was stated a mean drunk, domestic abuse implied. Well, that makes so much more sense now! I think the fact that “Robert” was still living was disclosed when she walked back from church with Siegfried in an episode (2nd season), I just didn’t catch his name then. Before then, I assumed she was a widow.
I am very fond of Gerald now. I’m so happy they gave her such a sweet person to have a friendship/relationship with.
