Usually PBS stations cut all the British shows by 10-15 min. The original show is 2 hours (with ads); PBS cuts it down to an hour and 20 min or so. They cut the ads and a few scenes; usually a longish one and a few short ones.

Grantchester next week! Wasn’t that an awesome, although bittersweet, season finale of Endeavour?! First, we see Bright “take charge” of a disaster when a bumbling CI Box was shocked and unable to even think coherently enough to organize his own people. We see Morse putting together the puzzle, piece by piece; and Thursday finally “waking up” at last...... Facing off against the dirty side and then going home to tell Win he loves her. I loved how they all came together to fight the bad guys, and won! But then, just as Chief Inspector Bright receives his good news of promotion, he arrives home to find his wife has quietly passed. At least, they showed us the mother and daughter safe and reunited, and Win reunited with Thursday (back to the man she fell in love with). Morse, at last, setting down his roots and beginning his future! Oh and I love that Abigail Thaw (daughter of Colin Thaw the original actor to play Inspector Morse) has a part in every series as the newspaper reporter ally to Endeavour. It’s a sweet, little tribute to the late actor in each season.

Here's the hype for Grantchester:
In the special two-hour Season 4 premiere, change has arrived in Grantchester. Elvis is dominating the airwaves, the civil rights movement hits home, and a new vicar pulls into town on his motorcycle!
See the premiere Sunday, July 14 at 9/8c

I loved that the US version of Endeavor kept in the scene of the children saving Bright's life! That is my favorite scene of any Endeavor ever! Love Mr. Bright!
Am excited for Grantchester!

I haven't had a chance to watch deleted/extra scenes (which I assume) are on the DVD (?) which PBS sends out/sells to donors..... But, I agree that "life saving moment" by all the children took me from extremely sad, to extremely happy in a moment. He wasn't my favorite cast member in the beginning, but I've grown to love him dearly as his respect, confidence & trust in Endeavour has grown over each season. This season, both Jim and Bright have become especially endearing, and I am so glad they have been featured more.

Grantchester.... Sidney easily gets over the love of his life Amanda (whom I never really cared for anyway), but, in just a few days of meeting Violet Todd, he is willing to leave his home and life. Yes, that is believable. I don't care though, because the new vicar is gorgeous!! Violet and Sydney were a huge letdown

I agree, but at least he left for a noble reason. It is crazy that a man who has loved a woman his entire life, was on verge of proposing when she announced she was engaged.... has the opportunity to finally have her, but walks away for the Church. Only to walk away for a woman he knows what a week tops? Oh well, he is happy and gone!

I didn't even make it through the whole episode...... it got slow for me. I used to LOVE Grantchester but yes I found it really stupid that he didn't walk away for Amanda but yet would for Violet. Don't get me wrong; Amanda was a boring slag, but he loved her his whole life. I guess he just finally reached the point of not caring anymore. It'll be nice to not see him mooning anymore. I'll still try to watch, but yeah it won't be the same. Hopefully Tom is amazing and the episodes pick up. In the books, Sydney marries the German girl that was on in the first season.

I'll really miss James Norton, but I do like Tom Brittney. He didn't get much to do on Outlander, but his character on UNReal was perfectly scummy. Hopefully Will is going to be a good guy!

Grantchester episode is really good! I’m so glad I watched it on passport, and look forward to watching it again on Sunday! Oh, and I believe I am falling in love with the new Vicar!

I saw these new Grantchester episodes earlier this year when they aired in the UK. I had truly mixed feelings on the transition to a new vicar. It's still an interesting show but James Norton was what pulled me into the show in the first place. I'll still keep up if it continues, but it won't be as urgent to see for me.

This episode was just okay to me. The crimes so far have been sorta weak imho. I was more interested in Kathy and her problems. I'll stickwith it though. Ready to see Will take over.

I didn't like the way Geordie outed the married man.It was cruel. I love Leonard, I'm sure Mrs C will come around, and learn I miss Sydney, the case this week was weak, I just felt, Meh.
I felt terrible for Cathy, just as she was enjoying her job.

I saw a video where Tom (Will in Grantchester) and Shaun (Endeavour) we’re being asked questions about each series. They were asked questions about their series, and to be expected, they each preferred the time period (50 vs 60) for their mysteries. I love both of these actors and characters, I also miss Sydney’s way in dealing with people. He was very naturally smooth and compassionate in reacting to situations, but Will plays passion much better than Sydney did. Will is good in his way.
Cathy’s story line was my favorite in this season, especially the way it is dealt with.
Will has an important storyline coming up and that’s actually what made my heart melt for him. Hope to see this series continue, with the young and adorable Tom continuing in the role of Will.

FIRST LOOK: World On Fire, starring Helen Hunt, Sean Bean, Lesley Manville and Jonah Hauer-King, is coming to MASTERPIECE on PBS!
The series is an adrenalized, emotionally gripping and resonant World War II drama that follows the intertwining fates of ordinary people as they grapple with the effects of the war on their everyday lives.

I really enjoyed last Sunday's episode of Grantchester. The crime was "better" and Will stepped up. It was a pretty seamless transition from Sydney. It was sad about Leonard and Mrs. C. Leonard has really been annoying this season for me. I loved him last season. I think the writers try too much to make him "quirky". He comes off a bit juvenile.

Wow , Leonard. I know his character has had some issues growing up and in life, but I dont want to see him as a mean little harpie. That pop in the face was well deserved. I couldn't help worrying about the little girl who stole the money and they are probably going to tell her dad now and she will get beaten or something.

As much as I love Leonard, he did deserve that pop. I thought what he said, was terribly out of character though. Can you believe the season is over next week?

I think the Finale was my favorite episode of this season of Grantchester. Mrs C was magnificent in her role of helping Cathy, Cathy was victorious in defeating a sexual harasser. Leonard and Mrs C have started a new, more open friendship. A friendship, which though not as supportive as I would expect, it is a beginning for growth and social understanding. Geordie and Will are building a solid friendship. I'm not a fan of boxing, but watching Geordie help Will train at the end; made me realize that they connect in ways different than Geordie and Sidney did, but equally strong. It should be a good friendship to watch develop in future seasons.

It should be a good friendship to watch develop in future seasons. Yeah, I wasn't happy that it was on the condition of him basically going back into the closet, but then I had to remind myself that I'm looking at it from 2019 and Will's reaction is much more progressive than most people would have been. I hope Mrs. C will become more open-minded in the next season. Her reaction wasn't very Christ-like, IMO.
Kind of annoying how "fans" on social media are bagging on Will/Tom Brittney, like it was his fault James Norton left the show. He wanted to leave! It's not like TB fired him or something. It reminded me of Doctor Who fans calling for David Tennant to come back, well, ever since he left, and comparing new Doctors (unfavorably, of course) to him. It's a TV show, let it go!
That pairing of Will with the teacher at the very end seemed a bit out-of-the-blue to me. Did I miss something?

Me too! But, I realized that back then it was not just a “sin”, it was against the law. Poor Leonard was thankful she did not report him to the church, or issue a legal complaint which would have forced Geordie to do something he would have hated. In that time period, she would have thought she was being a “good Christian”, thank goodness awareness has broadened since then. I do like that Geordie, Will and Sidney all were completely accepting and supportive of Leonard. Helping him to face and accept his sexuality. I mean come on, Leonard is a sweetheart, most of the time. (I don’t know why they had Leonard act so out of character when he was dealing with Will’s absence from the pulpit. That is what he wanted all along. ) I guess Will and Leonard had to bond through abusive fathers.

I thought the crime was a bit weak and it was laughable that an Inspector didn't know that Wendy Pope was Mr. Pope's daughter before he saw her picture in his house. I feel bad for Leonard, but he's been such a pill I don't know why Daniel wants to stay with him. Mrs. C still associating with him and wanting to be around him and be his friend was still a MAJOR think in the 50's. She's probably doing as much as she could.

For those that enjoy Endeavour, season 7 started filming this week (it will likely be aired in the UK in March or April and come to the US on PBS in late summer maybe or fall). It will be three episodes but they will be feature length. AND.............season 8 has already been commissioned for 2021!!!!
