Hustlers - I really enjoyed this movie. The is definitely JLO's best role yet. But Constance Wu was great! Cardi B cameo was worth all the press it got. She was perfect for the small role she was cast for. Madeline Brewer from Handmaids Tale and Keke Palmer brought the comedy. I wish it moved at a faster pace to create tension but the cast made up for any negatives I could say about a film about strippers who drug men for money.

Watched the Sex in the City Movie and Bridget Jone's Baby last night. I guess I was on a chick flick kick, lol. I haven't seen either of them before and enjoyed them.

"JUDY"!!!!!!!! OMG, you will laugh AND you will cry!!! Judy had a real troubling life from 12 years old until her death at 47. OUTSTANDING movie!!! Renee was AMAZING as Judy!!!! She was created and destroyed by the studios. As a young girl, she wasn't considered as cute as Shirley Temple and the studios thought she was "fat". Their solution, pump her full of diet pills. But then she couldn't sleep, pump her full of sleeping pills.... all the she is learning that she isn't good enough, she isn't pretty enough. I have hard her mother was a major stage mother. While, Judy had so much and talent, if only she would have had a better up bringing we could have had her a lot longer and she could have been truly happy.
I watched Yesterday. A very pleasant and charming film, nothing earth shattering. Hearing the songs for the "first time" as the characters reminded me of how brilliant they were. Songs I am so used to hearing just took my breathe away. IT was almost as if it were a love letter to the amazing talent of the Beatles.

The original Candyman is on Netflix now so I did a rewatch for the season. It aged well, and Tony Todd is fantastic as the title character. It was also very interesting to see what my grad school looked like in the early 90s before they made a lot of renovations to the campus, and the Cabrini Green housing project, and other Chicago areas. I can't wait to see the reboot/sequel.

Men in Black International. I really liked this take as (for sure) aliens didn't land only in New York. Interesting twists and female empowerment as well as nerd empowerment.

The Lobster - this had to be one of the most bizarre movies I've ever seen. Good cast, but wow, what a weird premise.

I watched the bonus features and didn't realize until then that the female lead played Valkryie in Thor Ragnarock and Avengers: Endgame. Valkryie and Thor together again!

Uncanny Annie - Hulu the newest movie of the month from Into the Dark. On Halloween night a group gets trapped in a board game that brings secrets and fears to life, where they must play to escape and win to survive. Not good. Don't bother. The Wedding Year - A new relationship is put to the test when they attend seven weddings in the same year. I rented it so let's just say I regretted the $6 within minutes but kept watching. It's not bad but I'd call a low budget romantic comedy. Booksmart - The night before high school graduation, two academic superstars and best friends realize they should have worked less and played more so they try to make the night memorable. They are trying to get to one party but end up at a few and shenanigans ensue. It got rave reviews and was compared to Superbad which is one of my favorite movies. It definitely tries to be as funny, witty, raunchy, and starts with a similar premise but there is no comparison. It was good and worth the watch mostly for Beanie Feldstein. The Long Shot - Journalist Fred reunites and is hired by his childhood crush, Charlotte as she prepares to run for President when sparks fly. I watch all Seth Rogen movies and this is one of his bests. I remember Seth and Charlize Theron selling this movie on interviews and everything they said was true. It's a funny, smart, mature romantic comedy that you won't regret watching. The Preppie Connection - Based on true story of 1984 drug scandal at Choate Rosemary Hall, a scholarship student at an elite boarding school uses drugs to befriend the popular kids and begins a drug trafficking network that smuggles uncut cocaine from Colombia into the US. I read the true story so I appreciated the movie more as it felt authentic. I enjoyed it.
