We watched the documentary "David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived." He was paralyzed after a stunt scene rehearsal on one of the Harry Potter films. Daniel Radcliffe is one of the Executive Producers.
The man has incredible spirit. He was very honest in the documentary. Not every day is great, but you keep working to not lose any of the physical ability you have, and you work to encourage others to follow their dreams.

I've always been a fan of heist movies as well as magic so on a whim I watched Now You See Me and liked it so much I also watched the sequel. It's a good time, and David Copperfield also gave them guidance on the magic portrayed in the two movies.

Oppenheimer, though technically we still have a half hour left. It was too long for me. There were moments I was really into it from a historical stand point and the acting was amazing. I would say if you dig this sort of subject, this is the movie for you. {Not sure if this should be marked as spoiler} There is early on a very gratuitous nude scene that I felt had no place in the movie.

NAPOLEAN
We thought it was awesome.
Ridley Scott always does a thorough wonderful job with his movies.
Joaquin Phoenix was amazing as Napoleon and Vanessa Kirby outstanding as Josephine.

Barbie: I loved everything about it. Loved Barbieland, all the actors in this, the music, and the fact that it dealt with a relatively serious issue with humor and grace. Michael Cera has always given me the creeps but I loved him as Alan, and I enjoyed the Dua Lipa and John Cena as the Mermaid Barbies as well.

Went to see The Marvels yesterday. Sometimes it was pretty confusing, but I reckon they worked it all out in the end.

Watched what has become a Christmas tradition at our house last night - Christmas Chronicles. Kurt Russell ROCKS (in more ways than one) as Santa.

Continuing our tradition of watching the new Poirot movies with A Haunting in Venice. We really liked it. It almost seemed too short as it went by so fast.

I have been giving myself a Marvel marathon, and I must admit that some films are better than others. Love and Thunder was mid. The latest Antman left some things to be desired, like it could've been shorter. Then there's The Eternals. I really liked it, and it made me excited for the follow-up. I'll be watching the Loki and Wandavision shows as well.
I'm sad to hear The Marvels is not doing so well at the box office. Haven't been to a theater in 3 years.

I think Disney overplayed their hand and cranked out these movies (as well as Star Wars stuff) to the point that it's exhausting and obvious money grabs. Marvel and Star Wars movies used to be events. Now, there's like 4 different movies a year plus the additional stuff on Disney+ and a lot of these movies require that you watch a bunch of previous stuff to understand it and no one has time for that! I was mildly interested in watching Loki and Ahsoka but decided to pass because of that. I'm sad about The Marvels as well because the misogynists and bigots are rejoicing all over the Internet but I can understand the lack of interest, and it's not the reasons people like that are assuming.

I genuinely didn't even know The Marvels movie was coming out. I also would've preferred Lashana Lynch stayed in the franchise, but if she's onto bigger and better, good for her.

Rewatched Midsommar and got a lot more out of it the second time around, and I'm impressed by the subtlety of the performances. The boyfriend was....not a good person; before her parents and sister died he had been planning to break up with her for a year, but didn't because of his own fears of being along and "what if we break up and I can't get her back?" Rather than come up with his own idea he deliberately piggybacked on his friend's thesis project, and while I blame the drink one of the ladies gave him that lowered his inhibitions, he still chose to have sex with that redheaded girl. Florence Pugh gives a masterful performance of someone who has been through a lot of trauma trying to hold on to (and make excuses for) someone who had long checked out of the relationship. That crying scene was cathartic because I sensed not only was she crying about her POS boyfriend, she was also grieving her parents and sister and the other women were sharing her burden and pain. I don't blame her at all for the decision she made at the end. Overall, a powerful movie that holds up with more viewings.

I finally watched the original version of Oldboy, and as messed up as that ending is(which i already knew about), it was well worth it. It had me shook.

Went to see Napoleon this afternoon. I always marvel at the logistics behind filming battle scenes like they had in this movie. Joaquin Phoenix is always worth watching as was Vanessa Kirby.

That is wonderful news! We're going to try to see either that or The Boy and the Heron this week! I'm going to try to get a subtitled show because even though Studio Ghibli does a good job with dubbing I still prefer subtitles because they tend to be a more accurate translation.

We watched The Whale last night and and it was great. The food-binging scene was tough to watch. Brendan earned that Oscar trophy. I didn't originally know that it was based on a play, but just by watching how the actors came into and out of scenes, it made sense that it would be(and is). Darren Aronofsky is a beast.

Started my annual Christmas watching of "Love Actually" last night, which I will finish today. And then I'll watch it again before Christmas.
For those of you who are CB Strike fans, last night I realized that Bill Nighy's character in the movie looks and acts just like I imagined Jonny Rokeby to be.

Blue Beetle
Upgraded my cable and got lots of discounts as I am grandfathered it and one was a free On Demand movie so I decided to watch DC's Blue Beetle. Oh My Goodness.
They Disney-fied this movie to death. I made it about 40 minutes in and had 48 hours to finish. Never went back.
The audience level they were shooting for must be about 5 yrs old.
There were so many flavor of the week cultural elements pushing white supremacy, colonialism, corporate greed, don't go to college or get any kind of education because of debt and stay being a house cleaner, it was just too much. All this was so layered on top of the story that at the 40 minute mark you were wondering when are they getting to the story.
Total waste.
