Leave the World Behind. We enjoyed it, very suspenseful. But the ending…left me disappointed.

The Banshees of Inisherin: A beautiful, haunting movie about the breakup of a long friendship, and the fallout from that. This movie made me ugly cry, and it's been a while since that happened.

WE watched Midsommar. It's a 2019 film but people kept saying I had to see it. I'm not sure what to think. I was reminded some of Wicker Man. I think I understand the point of it, but I didn't quite consider it horror, per say. It was just creepy.

I would say Midsommar is more psychological horror than your traditional horror film. Like you said, it's creepy, and it stays with you like a lot of A24's films. Hereditary (another A24 title) is similar in that aspect.

Die Hard. Because it's a great Christmas movie.
ETA: And I'm wearing my Snape t-shirt. Seems appropriate. Just for you, Alan Rickman.

I watched 'Jules' which has Ben Kingsley and Jane Curtain about older adults living in a small town when an alien crashes. This movie is so warm-hearted and funny and it had me in tears.

Been a little down lately, so watched the original "Mamma Mia" last night. Laughed, cried, laughed, cried, and laughed some more.
Hubby had to go to the bathroom right at the end so I said, "Do you want me to pause it until you get back." His response: "No, just crank it up!!!!"
Never have those words ever come out of his mouth before.
1/11: We watched "Mamma Mia: Here I Go Again" last night. More cranking it up during the grand finale. I was afraid when I heard that Cher was going to be in, but she did a great job, and tying her part of the story into the song "Fernando" was genius.

Beau Is Afraid - this may have been the most surreal/trippy/messed up three hours of film I've ever watched. Didn't love the ending but I was all in for the ride otherwise. Joaquin Phoenix was fantastic.

Saw Wish in the movie theater. The film had some great songs and a beautiful message to honor and understand everything about yourself. It was fun to have a straight-up villain.

Oh I took my WEST coast granddaughters back in early November when only very few cities were showing Disney's WISH. We left there thrilled with the movie!!!! The girls wanted Asha for Christmas so of course Grammy bought them each a Asha doll and Santa brought them each a Valentino plushie (the goat)!!!! MIGRATION!!! Just got back from New England spending time with my EAST coast grandchildren and we all went and saw MIGRATION and loved it!!! It really was hysterical!! TONS OF FUN!!!

I watched "Where'd You Go, Bernadette" after finishing the book today. I must say, I liked the movie better than the book (which was kind of weird). The movie did a better job with the teenager I thought, and calmed the mom (main character) down a bit too.

We saw THE BEEKEEPER yesterday.
As usual I totally enjoy anything with Jason Statham.
Twists and turns and tons of action.
Basically a cast I was not familiar with at all other than Minnie Driver who was in it for all of 5 minutes. Oh and Jeremy Irons was his usual awesome self.

Lift on Netflix - very good heist movie and no gratuitous sex scenes and no nudity, some longing romantic looks that I really appreciated for a change and it fit the movie.
I can see that Kevin Hart's frantic manic energy can be a bit much and it is so under control in this movie.

Watched "The Nest" on Netflix.
That's almost two hours of my life I'll never get back. No plot, no point. Even Jude Law was unlikeable. But it was good to see that Carrie Coons can play a role that doesn't involve her smug "nose-in-the-air-and-smelling-something-bad" look that she has in every scene of "The Gilded Age."
Don't waste your time.

I've been on a Kate Winslet binge. I love her! You must watch Heavenly Creatures! She was brilliant in that and so was Melanie Lynskey. I never get tired of that film, except for the end. It is hard to take.

I was trepidatious to watch Saltburn since people were saying that it was gross, and I am really, really not into gross things. But I went for it and glad I did. It wasn't gross in the way I was thinking (eating eyeball kinda thing). I LOVED it. Just the type of movie I love that has a twist and is about class. I don't know why Jacob Elordi was the host of SNL when Barry did all the heavy lifting. Also, Rosamund Pike was in it, and over the holidays, a woman came up to me saying that I looked just like her! (I don't, but love the compliment)

Thank goodness for the public library. I really think you will enjoy it. Peter Jackson really came up with not only a well acted and written movie but one that is visually interesting as well. He managed to capture the insanity and hysteria of the two as it builds and builds.

We watched the movie Silent Night on Netflix though it is out on DVD. It stars Keira Knightly as a woman who invites friends/family for a final Christmas. There is poisonous gas that is going around the world killing people and many are opting for suicide so they don't suffer. Roman Griffin Davis is her son. He was in Jo Jo Rabbit and he is one heck of an actor. We completely enjoyed it.
