When a guest comes on and doesn't give a single straight answer, they're an awful guest (in my book)!
Speaking of guests and books, I bought Jon Meacham's book (another one of Meghan's mentors apparently...) after his appearance on The View and I cannot wait to read it! I am such a fan of this man.

Over the course of this week, Sara said Melania needed "hell no" people around her, the she would have protested with the others against McConnell only several more feet back but with a louder voice, and that this administration should've shown they cared about children by not taking them away rather than by being all up in her uterus, or however she phrased it. All anti-Trump comments yet we (at this thread, with differing political views) can all collectively agree that she makes the most sense and has the most impact. I can't speak for others, but for me the think I like so much about Sarah is that she does not attack people who disagree with her - she simply states what she believes. To me that shows that she respects people who think different from her and seeks to understand them. For me, when the others get intolerable it's because they are trying to cut down people who don't think like them. Joy constantly obsessing over Republicans who don't attack the president with the furor that she does; Sunny justifying excluding and discriminating against people who don't think like her in the name of inclusiveness; Megan trying to separate herself from the rest of them claiming she's got more knowledge and experience than they do. To me, all of those are examples of the other hosts being devisive by not respecting that a different point of view is not threatening. I don't see that same attitude in Sarah, and that's why I like her whether she says things I agree with or not. Sunny just wants to make sure that we all exercise our constitutional rights. With her background, that makes sense to me. I'm sure it's not easy for her to disagree on these things, she likely sees value in both sides of the argument, but she feels it is her calling to remind us that we do not want to become a suppressed society. I'm sorry, but I call BS on that. Constitutional rights as they pertain to speech, expression, and protest, are designed to ensure that all citizens are heard. Constitutional rights create an environment of debate. When Sunny advocates that people who hold a set of beliefs she does not share should be shunned ... not when they are expressing those views but when they are simply living their lives ... is not protecting anyone's constitutional rights. It's disrespecting people who see things different from her. It's a point of view that is grounded in emotion, and would not pass any test of logic. The easiest test of that in my opinion is that if during the Benghazi investigation Obama administration officials had gone to local restaurants and been told they were not welcome there, I'm confident Sunny would not be arguing that they should be held accountable for what happened and should not be welcome there. One more thing that has really been bugging me in their discussions over the past couple of days. Sunny and Joy have both been arguing that the confirmation of Neil Gorsuch shifted the court to a conservative leaning. Have they forgotten that he replaced THE face of conservatism on the court in Antonin Scalia? You can't get more conservative than him, so every time they talk about this "shift" in the court, they come across as more and more ignorant to me.

Thanks, Acooker, for reminding me that Gorsuch replaced the most conservative person on the court. That helps me be a little bit less depressed about the situation. I do think that what the Republican's did by refusing to confirm the centrist judge that Obama selected was against everything that this country is based on. The president who is in power is supposed to fill the seat. That's how it works. Conservatives won't like a liberal's appointees as much and liberals won't like a conservatives appointees, but it all balances out.

This is not a political debate or even a straight out political discussion thread. If it is YOUR OPINION and NOT one expressed on the show, back away from the computer and take a deep breath. Thanks.

Simply talking about current events without tying it back to something said on the show is NOT allowed. We used to have a Current Events forum at the old board, and it was a disaster area. This is a reality TV forum by design, it is not meant to be all things to all people. Thank you for understanding.

You can call it whatever you want, but she repeated the same message yesterday in an effort to further explain herself (almost as if she had read my post ), and her credentials (trial attorney and federal prosecutor) tell us she's thoroughly schooled in rights. I've always loved Sara. In fact, I've probably been her biggest fan at FORT's The View thread over the years. For me, it has certainly not been because she doesn't attack like the others. To think that would mean I thought less about all of them, and that's not my take away at all. And with regard to what I put in bold... I commend Joy for speaking up. Her point is so valid that a prime example is sitting right at the table. Meghan clearly stated that her party had a good day on a very bad day (as I detailed earlier). She does not acknowledge all of the bad things that are happening, instead she's running a false narrative. That is so scary to me! She even stated on another day this week that DT has the winning message even though it is a lie and that everyone in her circle knew what he ran on (his wall) was always a load of hooey. That load of hooey has over 2,000 children separated from their parents. All of this tribal party stuff that Meghan talks about is nothing less than tragic.

With regards to Sunny - a person can be well educated, and repeat a point multiple times and still be making a BS point. Look at our president for an example of that! What sunny is advocating for is harassing people who hold a certain point of view. Megan even got her to admit that harassment is illegal. She’s not protecting rights. She’s taking an emotional reaction and showing a desire to silence people who hold those viewpoints. I see that as scary, not protecting rights.
As for Megan, off the top of my head I recall her speaking out against tariffs and protectionist policies. She’s also spoken out against separating kids from their parents at the border, and the idea of building a wall. She’s spoken about being disappointed that Ivanka Trump wasn’t more vocal about the border chi, dren and her disdain for Melania Trumps I dint care jacket. That’s just things she went against the White House on this week off the top of my head. Where did Joy speak out against democrats? I dint think Megan is the right one to point to in trying to defend Joy.

And I would never go to the emotional stance - that's the same slippery slope as using the word hysterical when referring to a woman. Sunny is not being emotional. It takes a level head to be a federal prosecutor, wouldn't you say? She is seeing down the road and she's warning us/reminding us as to what could happen if we don't get involved, pure and simple.

Why don't they have a more even panel on this show instead of one person against the rest most of the time? There seems to be an overabundance of sjws on tv in general.

I don't think there is anything wrong with being a social justice warrior if that is what a person's passion is. But I can see the point with regards to a TV show that is intended to be a panel discussion with a heavy focus on politics. With that panel is stacked 4-1 it feels lopsided. I enjoy the days that Anna Navaro guest hosts but Megan is still on because then you've got two conservatives with differing views, two or more liberals with differing views, as well as someone in the middle. I think that can bring a better exchange of ideas than a 4-1 battle.

The term comes from the white 'bro' culture. White males who believe women, minorities and those in the LBGQT community are out to 'get them' or admonish them via 'political correctness.' Especially when the white male is told their 'white privilege' exempts them from the inequalities born by women/minorities/LGBTQ community.
"A pejorative term for an individual who repeatedly and vehemently engages in arguments on social justice on the Internet, often in a shallow or not well-thought-out way, for the purpose of raising their own personal reputation. A social justice warrior, or SJW, does not necessarily strongly believe all that they say, or even care about the groups they are fighting on behalf of. They typically repeat points from whoever is the most popular blogger or commenter of the moment, hoping that they will "get SJ points" and become popular in return. They are very sure to adopt stances that are "correct" in their social circle."
It is a slur.

lol There isn't anything wrong with social justice in general. Though for example I've seen plenty of occurences where some sjws say they are taking a stand against racism while being racist themselves towards certain races. Also after saying racist comments, they will come up with ridiculous notions that certain races "aren't able to be racist". It's very ironic to see.
There is a difference between womens empowerment and just plain ole hating the opposite gender. Saying every male is aggressive and dangerous and has "toxic masculanity" isn't empowering or wanting equal rights.
Also stating that certain races or genders get more favors in today's day and age is just an opinion.
White bro culture? lol There are plenty of people annoyed by various sjws that aren't white.

When I first asked on here if this show is mainly about repetitive trashing of the president lately, I actually had some people pm me that it was true, and they were hesitant to even post in this section because they didn't want to get bashed for their differing viewpoints. I thought they might be going overboard at the time, but now I'm not so sure. lol

I sometimes think the hosts on the view go overboard, but I can change the channel or mute them. They do have some interesting guests, I wish sometimes they gave them more time..I don't care for'' view my deal, "the gal that comes on , and has tried them all, must have a very cluttered house! ..

Also this is a discussion -- meaning people exchange ideas and hopefully learn from each other.
When it becomes people just posting the same opinion/viewpoint over and over and nobody is really listening to anyone else, it becomes pointless.
OK back to including the show in our posts again.

What an awful guest! And Meghan with her "you were my mentor" once again - how many mentors does one person need?! How many? If someone is blessed or lucky they will have many mentors throughout their lives. My comment had little to do with mentors, rather it was about name dropping. Whoopi could drop names all day long but she is humble, dare I say even shy about doing so. Meghan is just the opposite.

I can't say I see a lot of difference in what Whoopi does and what Megan does. To me, both are giving credit to important people in their lives. To me, acknowledging that we are where we are because of the help and influence of special people is included in the definition of humble. Whether it's Megan acknowledging guests who were mentors and important guideposts to her career, Whoopi acknowledging the people she's teamed up to perform with who helped her to be successful, or Joy recognizing women like Susie Essman who were dear friends who supported her throughout her career, each of them is recognizing that they are where they are in large part because of kind supportive people. I think it's nice to see the gratitude and appreciation.

By definition, name dropping is a way to inflate one's stature by linking oneself to a famous person or situation and/or the act of trying to impress someone by saying the names of well-known people that you know or have met. Meghan does this routinely.
Ninety percent of the time, I would have no idea Whoopi had a prior association with a guest if it were not for the guest mentioning it. And when the guest mentions their association, Whoopi is generally coy.
So again, my point had nothing to do with thanks, gratitude, or the like.
