Beef - two miserable people get into a road rage incident and everything just spirals out of control from there. Very well done, and for once I hope they don't do a second season because it ended perfectly.

OMGOSH .... Critical that TRAILER is AMAZING!!! NOVEMBER 2nd!!!! ALL THE LIGHT WE CANNOT SEE! My son (who is an attorney) but is combining his law degree with film and is currently attending NYU Film school, I asked him a while ago WHO does these TRAILERS for movies as some of them are just ABSOLUTELY REMARKABLE. I am C&Ping this trailer to him for sure. It is stunning how they get trailer editors/producers (or whatever they are called) to slice up the movie to create a trailer that will make a full length movie APPEAL TO ALL.

"Don't Pick Up the Phone."
Unbelievable story, but it's all true. Please, God, let me have more sense than most of the people in this series.

Finally watched Season 3 of Dead to Me. So good, but it reduced me to a blubbering puddle of tears by the end.

Very well done, and for once I hope they don't do a second season because it ended perfectly. I just finished this last night. I agree that it ended in a good place, no reason to pick it back up. It is crazy how people these days get themselves all knotted up and then respond to something minor in an overblown way. I've always thought it's not worth seeking revenge because it only escalates the matter. Neither side wants to give in so it makes an already bad situation much worse.

I just started The Diplomat with Keri Russell and the delicious Rufus Sewell and I'm already hooked! I just started this last night...it's good. I get a little lost in some of the political and government lingo but after a few twists that I didn't see coming, I'm definitely in!

EXACTLY!!! AND they haven't renewed it yet!
I'm watching The Recruit right now. Much lighter and than The Diplomat. I like Laura Haddock, but it's become kind of a cliche that the edgy Russian criminal wears super short, blunt-cut bangs. One look and you know she's a baddie I don't think Noah Centineo is a great actor, but this role doesn't require that. I needed something to half-watch while working and this fits the bill!

They haven't!?!? I think it will get renewed. It seems to be doing well. I started watching Candy on Hulu last night. It's based off the story of Candy Montgomery, "the ax-murdering mom." Jessica Biel plays Candy. If you like true crime stories, give this a try. Apparently there is another series about this case on HBO called "Love and Death" - I don't have HBO so I won't be watching that one

I've been doing a rewatch of Designated Survivor, which I haven't seen since it first aired. Love me some Kiefer Sutherland!

I started watching “night agent”. Of which I liked the fitst hour. But the reaction of the main female character is completely unrealistic. This business woman with zero experience with hitmen and near-death experiences by execution style killing(of her aunt uncle — who are killed— and herself) in the middle of the night — which she barely escapes — seems not to terrify her at all. In fact she wanders around at some distance from her rescuer outside— and later acts as if she’s holed up in a guarded hotel room for no reason and has nothing “fun” to do and then when they’re on the run — she is miffed when she doesn’t get to drive the car— saying “so the man always drives”— as they flee the very-determined killers — . What??? You’re running for your life with this guy who’s just barely saved you— at one point by out driving some pursiuimg bloodthirsty people with high powered guns—annd who is clearly a trained martial art /whatever fighter with mad driving skills — and you want to drive. ??
It’s strains credulity to the point where it’s not interesting. Are these make writers so mixed up about empowering women that they just don’t get it?

Not sure when we will get back to The Night Agent.

Started watching "Beef" and damn. This is a lot. You have two people who are used to having to repress their emotions at work/home and that anger has to go somewhere. I also like the fact that they go into the fact that the "Model Minority" stereotype is actually extremely toxic to the people who are expected to live up to it. I'm taking my time with this series because there's a lot of subtle points being made without hammering you over the head with it.

I liked The Night Agent. I didn’t find that the female lead was incongruous. She was obviously scared and nervous at parts, and sometimes could be sarcastic in response.
I’ve only watched two episodes of The Diplomat. I keep getting distracted by Keri Russell’s hair. It is is often messy/unbrushed to signal that she is “serious” but then sometimes in the same scene, or the one immediately following, it looks like she somehow got a blowout done.

Thanks for the article! You can definitely feel the influences of The West Wing and Homeland. Her hair distracted me for an episode or two, but then I stopped noticing. The only time I DID notice is when there were scenes when her hair looked styled, preceded and followed by ones where it didn't. The lack of continuity bugged me. I'm such a Keri Russell fan that I don't care about that stuff. She's just SO good in this series and I love the relationship between Kate and Hal. I'm so glad we're getting a second season!

I’m trying to decide whether to watch the diplomat. I didn’t like the first and second episodes but I’m hoping it gets better. I had some issues with the use of stereotypes of male/female roles that were presented to be knocked— the disrespectful entitled husband as opposed to the super serious wife oppressed by stereotypes about what she’s supposed to wear or how aggressive vs passive she’s xpected to be etc. I think the actor in that role might be great for something but I found her down in the mouth style off- putting. Plus the demeaning focus on the presidents age by his chief of staff was offensive.
From what I’ve heard from my partner who seemed to enjoy it with reservations there’s an absurd plot with the Iranians that’s next. But since he did like it, I may give it another look. It’s at least something to talk about.
