I can only done spy/political show at a time. It is bad enough I have added The Citadel to the ix, and they are a weekly drop.. UGH.. I may wait till they are all out and rewatch the 2 again.

I just started watching Queen Charlotte and *WOOF* King George is a babe! Great casting for the young Charlotte. She looks so much like the older actress who plays the Queen.

I do hope that the (I'm assuming) popularity of this show will cause people to seek out The Madness of King George, the fabulous movie with Nigel Hawthorne as George and Helen Mirren as Charlotte. It's excellent. I may have talked myself into watching it again!

Thanks, I might have to look that up! Be forewarned - Shonda Rhimes has taken liberties! I haven't seen it in at least 20 years, but I don't remember any heaving breasts or handsome kings in the Hawthorne-Mirren version!
I looked it up on the Roku app and it's available on Tubi and the Roku Channel for free (I'd guess that last one is only free if you have a Roku).
Lady Violet talking about her "garden" blooming I love the focus on the older female characters. They're some of my favorites on Bridgerton.

I just finished Queen Charlotte and teared up a little at the end. So interesting how it was interwoven with the Bridgerton storyline we know so far.

Oh, I figured it would be VERY different But I do love history! I also love the focus on the older female characters and have enjoyed seeing their backstory. Queen Charlotte was never my favorite....until now. I absolutely adore young Charlotte. I finished last night. It wasn't long enough. More, more, more!

No decisions have been made for more, but it sounds like Shonda would be down!
I actually think I enjoyed it more than Bridgerton, especially season 2. I loved learning about those powerful older women. There was a scene in, I think, episode 56 between Violet and Lady Danbury that was just fantastic. It was where they were talking about how they don't actually know much about each other. The line that really got me was "We are untold stories." I had to hit pause. It was so simple and so profound.
That final scene with the old and young George and Charlotte...goosebumps, tears. God, I loved it! I'm definitely going to watch it again.
Shonda was on Armchair Expert this week and she talked a good bit about Bridgerton and a bit about Queen Charlotte. It was a good interview.

That last scene was powerful. I too got goosebumps and cried. I went back last night and watched just that scene again. "George, it is me, it is your Charlotte, Farmer George!" Gah!! And the feet sticking out the bottom of the bed. I loved it so much!

And the feet sticking out the bottom of the bed. I loved it so much! I wept. It was such a sad but beautiful end. Unconditional love...... The series was just so good. The younger cast was perfectly matched for the older cast. And like mentioned, I loved the focus on the older women as well, not just the young. Hard to believe 13 children and the only one left standing was Victoria. I saw the Madness of King George years ago and I highly recommend it. I might just have to seek it out again. This really wasn't what I was expecting, it was better. It was heartbreaking, it was deep and it had its light moments.

Watched Queen Charlotte this weekend, and found myself wrapped in a warm blanket watching the episodes. Loved it!!! I thought the two leads had perfect chemistry. I also teared up at the end scene. Also, really enjoyed learning more about Violet and Agatha. I did have a question. I fell in love with the story between Brimsley and Reynolds. Did I miss what happened with them?

They didn't address it on the show but I did read that Shondra Rhimes said that Reynolds is not dead. I'm assuming he might still be taking care of the king, though I don't think we saw him.

In the middle of watching Queen Charlotte and so good! I admit I got in my feels during the scene where he's naked in the garden and she told him she was Venus and Venus was cold and wanted him to go inside with her, then gently covered him up and took him to the house.
Of course Shonda has to Shonda, and while there are scenes where Lady Danbury is wonderfully quick and clever repeated marital rape scenes is not it; one was more than enough, and it also seemed to be played for laughs? Also, the makeup on Lord Danbury was a mess; he had fake teeth, and I was really getting Eddie Murphy "Klumps" or one of Tyler Perry's crazy male Madea characters vibes that were really...something else, especially in the more intimate scenes. He just died in the last episode and I hope they put her with someone age appropriate and hot because she deserves happiness after tolerating all of that!

I didn't feel it was marital rape just really bad sex. She didn't appear to try to fight him off just resigned herself to the act. I'm sure he had no idea it was bad.

In those times it was a woman's duty. And even still to this day some consider it that way. We see in the end that she loved him. She didn't know life without him. I also didn't see it as rape. It was very much so consensual ...just not enjoyed. But there was no kicking and screaming...no dragging to the bed...no yelling etc. It was her duty. As lame as that it! But that being said...I also could have done without a couple of the scenes

She didn't fight him, she just did her duty and got it over with. He probably thought she really enjoyed it. He was not a bad man, just kind of an oaf.

I think they were trying to (sorry) hammer home just how frequently and how BAD the sex was in the Danbury home. You needed that tedious repetition. AND, because we've already seen Lady Danbury as an adult, we knew that she got out of it (although initially, not how) and became a powerful woman.
ETA: I just watched The Mother with Jennifer Lopez. It was just okay. I felt like I've seen this same movie multiple times.
I just started the new season of Queer Eye and OMG, these frat boys are the sweetest. I loved every one of their makeovers, but it was more about them as people. I wish all young men could be this open with their feelings and supportive of their friends.

I didn't think of that but yes, you are right. WE got to see what made her, her, including the fling with Ledger.

The situation might be nuanced but it was obvious to me that it was more than a duty. She had no autonomy or control, she had no right to say "No," she was forced to submit. It's something that occurred frequently (and might I say, something that was expected) in those times but yes, the whole situation would be considered marital rape now. Furthermore, she makes it clearer in her "You loved...I loathed" speech to Violet when explaining why she was using some of the Lord's money to fund an all-girls school. She hated that man and what he did to her, and using the money of a man who (according to her) had horrible views about girls and women being property to build a girls school which would help them be more reliant helped her heal.
edit: It also didn't help that Lord Danbury looked like a Krump and would do things like fart and pop his teeth out afterwards.

Continuing my watch of Charlotte and oh my goodness at Lady Danbury having an affair with Violet's Daddy! Shonda is a mess! I do have to admit that I was very touched at the scene where older Lady Danbury found the paper hat he had given her so many years ago in storage. I loved her look of nostalgia and delight.

Okay, did you realize who that was before they really hooked up? I wondered if I missed something. I often get distracted while watching TV, so I thought I might have missed a more subtle review before they really made it obvious. That was messy and I loved it!
Arsema Thomas, who played the young Lady Danbury hasn't had a lot of acting roles, but I think that's definitely going to change. She was terrific. The whole cast was so good. It's only a matter of time before I watch it again.
I finished the most recent season of Queer Eye and, as usual, it was too short. The only episode I didn't love was Deli Man Dan. That one didn't hold my interest as much.

They showed young Violet with both of her parents a few times before the hook up happened. I think it could have easily been missed. This was one of the rare shows that I didn't try to watch while working or doing housework

Yes! He's with Violet in some earlier scenes and in the scene where the Danbury's hosted that ball and he asked could he dance with Agatha. I was kinda like "Hmmm...this is interesting, but nah." Then the next thing I knew, he was with Lady Danbury having a torrid tryst! I was like "Shonda, why are you so messy?"

I read the novelization of the show. Some good background, especially for Lady D.

I just started FUBAR with Arnold Schwarzenegger. It's not great art, but it's enjoyable. MUCH better than Citadel on Prime Video, which IMO, takes itself WAY too seriously.
Arnold isn't a great actor or anything, but he's surrounded himself with a good supporting cast. I'm especially enjoying Travis Van Winkle and Fortune Feimster. Fun to see Fabiana Udenio, the exchange student in Summer School about a hundred years ago, playing Arnold's ex-wife. She's still gorgeous.
