Haven't watched it yet but apparently creepers on the Internet are trying to track down "Martha" now? What is WRONG with people? I'm really glad that the comedian never released her name because unfortunately this is the world we live in. They DID track her down...I must admit, I looked at her Twitter and Facebook. It's kind of eerie, to be honest. She even mentions needing her curtains hung. I feel like Richard Gadd could have done a better job in hiding their identities. He cast people who looked very much like the real life version. However, the series is incredible and haunting. I finished it days ago but it has stuck with me. The acting is superb and the writing is brilliant. A must see. But definitely hard to watch....so skip if you're into just light hearted stuff.

When I looked The Internet was accusing 5 different women of being Martha. :/
The series sounds good, but as a former stalking victim I think I'm going to pass. Unfortunately, some people misunderstand kindness and I really don't want to revisit that.

I think that's a smart idea. I'm so sorry you went through that. I think they definitely narrowed it down to one now it seems

I didn't realize it was based on a true story!

That's probably a good decision. I've not ever had that happen to me and I found it really hard to watch. I had to take breaks between episodes because it was very intense.
Kudos to Richard Gadd, not only for being so open with some things that, unfortunately, are still stigmatized in society, especially for men. Not only that, but I thought he gave a really powerful performance. That scene on stage in episode 6 blew me away. I hope he gets tons of offers for work after this. He's a great dramatic actor.
The actress playing Teri is absolutely stunning, btw. I wish that part of the storyline had ended better because I kind of shipped those two together.

I TOTALLY did! I really thought that after his video went viral that she would have seen it and forgiven him. In MY alternate ending, that's absolutely what happened and yes...she is beautiful! The acting all around was so good. Jessica Gunning was incredible!

Ugh, the Daily Fail tracked down and interviewed "Martha" and she went deep in the therapy speak saying Gadd has "main character syndrome" and that she's the victim because he's "using the show to stalk me." Maybe if you didn't send him 41,071 emails, 744 tweets, letters totaling 106 pages and 350 hours of voicemail messages there wouldn't be a show in the first place? She's also getting death threats, which I believe because there's some deeply disturbed people online.

I just binged it straight through. I knew going in that the actor wrote it and it was a true story… comedian has a stalker. I was not prepared for the rest. So complex. I also thought Teri was gorgeous and wished they could have worked things out.

I had to take a break after episode four of Baby Reindeer (very intense and disturbing) but finished the series this morning. I went through a lot of the same crap with a stalker 30 years ago, and no, the police can't really do much until it gets violent. It was infuriating. And scary. So I had a hard time empathizing with the Martha character.
But overall the series was very well done, and Gadd is a great dramatic actor. Hopefully we'll see him do more acting.

Yes, I had one as well, not to the degree in this show. He'd follow me to work, and often be there when I quit.

I'm watching part 2 of Rebel Moon, really out of boredom than anything. This is the most bizarre movie. So, it's a time when there's space travel, but people are still farming and growing grain and being strong-armed by people from other planets for grain. It's supposedly another universe and people dress like they're extras in a gladiator movie, except when they're wearing T-SHIRTS. WTH? I could forgive this stuff if the movie made any sense.
A read a description that included the words "space opera" and I really feel like using the word "opera" anywhere near this is kind of silly. It's more like a commercial jingle. I'm about 45 minutes in and I'm pretty sure that 45 minutes after it's done, I will remember next to nothing about it.
Why did they make TWO of these movies!?

So sorry wayward and Fanny Mare that you've suffered these frightening experiences! I just cannot imagine the fear you'd lived with! I'm so glad you are OK!
Hugs and kisses!

We are three episodes in and I have no sympathy for her. And we were yelling at the TV at him to stop engaging her. But does that really make a difference? I think its a case of damned if you do, damned if you don't I'm sorry for what you went through.

I worked with a woman who had a member of the public stalking her. Not at home but at work (public library). He wouldn't leave her alone. He would hover around the desk for hours. She complained to TPTB and they told her to "go in the back office" when he came in. Not really feasible if she was the only one at the desk. She ended up leaving the job. Luckily, it didn't go beyond our building but you just never know.

Now "Martha" is threatening to sue Stephen King because she thinks he's working with Gadd to make a movie. Oh, and she's writing a book too. www.boredpanda.com/baby-reindeer-real-life-martha-threatens-sue-stephen-king-after-show-praise/All Stephen did was praise the show and said it reminded him of a real life Misery; there's no plans to work with Gadd. If anything, I hope this show opens up a conversation about lack of mental health resources pretty much everywhere. I also wish that the idiots who uncovered this woman's identity would leave her alone; she's obviously unwell, why are you sending her messages telling her she sucks? Why poke the bear?

Agree, the woman is obviously not well. And now she is getting the attention she craves. I have confidence that King can over come this!

We just binged "American Nightmare," the documentary of the kidnapping of Denise Huskins, and the totally unbelievable response of the Vallejo CA police department and the FBI.
I barely remember the original news story about it (I don't read the news much), and honestly had no memory of how it all turned out.
Denise and her fiance (now husband) wrote a book about their experiences. This is one of those times where I'm going to buy the e-book on Amazon, because they deserve every penny they can earn from this travesty. The book is called "Victim F: From Crime Victims to Suspects to Survivors."
