Restless Creature: Wendy Whelan, about one of my personal heroes. This is a documentary focusing on the time leading up to WW's retirement from the New York City Ballet at age 47 after 30 years with the company, which is absolutely unheard of in the world of ballet. "Restless Creature" is also the name of the contemporary dance show she toured not long after retirement, which featured her dancing with four young male contemporary choreographers. I'm completely in awe of her.

Just watched "Cargo" on Netflix. Not a genre I normally like, but it was EXCELLENT. We watched this last night. I agree, it was excellent! Martin Freeman made it even better. Also watched the Bruce Willis remake of Death Wish...it was just okay.

We took the kids to see “Incredibles 2” yesterday. We enjoyed it. It was a little long for our three year old but our older child loved it! I was a little surprised by the minor language in though (damn, hell, etc).

I just watched "Mary Shelley" (2017 - the life and adventures of the author of Frankenstein) and it was very, very good. It was not at all what I expected, and even more surprising, was that not only was the plot very close to being true, but when I immediately went to Wikipedia to find out the 'real' story of Mary Shelley's life, it turned out that it was even MORE SHOCKING than that which was depicted in the film!!!! If you like period pieces' mixed with exploration into the true nature of people -- you'll enjoy this film. IMDb: MARY SHELLEY www.imdb.com/title/tt3906082/?ref_=nv_sr_1Wikipedia: MARY SHELLEY en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Shelley

Peter Rabbit - was skeptical, but by the end I was humming the birds' songs.

Pacific Rim: Uprising.... boring and cliched. Not close to the first one.
Unsane.... this was a pleasant surprise. Very improbably but entertaining.

I love movie recommendations! Don’t like to rely on just ratings. So thanks for marking The Killing of A Sacred Deer off my list. Some movies I have watched over the last couple months:
Molly’s Game, Jessica Chastain is great so that made it worth the watch. Movie was too long.
Love, Simon, I adored it. Cute, funny, coming of age story that my inner teen has missed.
Flower, Zoey Deutch is charming. The plot was a out there but that’s usually why I enjoy indies. Something different.
The Book Club, Loved it! Funny and smart. I hope we get more legends to make more films together.
Life of the Party, so bad I couldn’t stick with it. Melissa McCarthy usually cracks me up.
Red Sparrow, I disliked everything about it. I couldn’t get passed the constant background music and Jlaw’s fake accent.
The Quiet Place, I enjoyed the intensity! John and Emily were great.
Unsane, holy crap. I pressed play and enjoyed the ride for the next 90 minutes. Gave me anxiety and kept me on the edge of my seat and I loved it!!
Ibiza, a fun watch with a glass of wine with your GF’s. I like Gillian Jacobs from Love.
Game Night, with a cast like that you can’t go wrong.

I TRIED to watch Sandra Bullock's 'Ocean's Eight.' I thought I'd love it cause I love almost everyone in the cast, and I have always enjoyed the guys' versions of the Ocean's movies.
But it was soooo cutesy, and contrived --- and just trying too hard. I couldn't get past the first 15 or 20 minutes. I was really disappointed. Maybe I'll try again, knowing what's in store. Plus, I do want to see all of the fabulous fashion.

Ready Player One - I thought it was a blast. Great soundtrack and tons of 80s references for us Gen Xers.

I've been to a few movies over the past few weeks. Here's my history from AMC:
May 1st: Black Panther June 9th: Solo June 19th: Deadpool 2 June 26th: Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom July 3rd: Ocean's 8
Tonight I'm going to The First Purge. I haven't seen any of the Purge movies yet. I've been taking advantage of a Tuesday ticket deal at the theater so I've been seeing some movies that I otherwise might not have gone to just so I can take advantage of the deal.
I thought Black Panther was good. Great cinematography!
Solo was so disappointing. Han Solo was one of my favorite characters in Star Wars so I expected more from his back story. I didn't even think Lando Calrissian was as interesting in this movie. I'm just not a fan of the more recent Star Wars franchise.
I hadn't seen Deadpool before seeing it's sequel so I wasn't sure how I was going to like it but it was good! I would like to see the first one now, too.
Jurassic World was kind of meh, like all the sequels since the first one. Pretty predictable, but at least the dinosaurs were still cool.
I actually didn't think I would go to Ocean's 8 when I saw the previews because I'm not fond of all-female versions of popular movies (like Ghostbusters). It was better than I thought it would be, although there were plot loopholes big enough to drive a bus through. They should have at least had a cameo with George Clooney to make this movie more interesting!

Watched Kingsman: The Golden Circle and really disliked the direction it took. I liked the addition of The Statesman, but too many unnecessary deaths of favs combined with a tasteless scene involving someone literally getting fingered to shove some spy equipment up their privates ensures that I won't watch it again. Which is a shame, because I really loved the first movie.

I just got back from The First Purge. It was ok but not really my type of movie. One thing I thought was funny was that the sound of people getting killed reminded me of a Hardee's commercial because of the sound effects. They used to have these commercials where people were biting into burgers and they sounded wet and swampy. Quite frankly, it didn't sound like an appetizing burger to bite into. Hearing that sound effect with people being shot, torn limb from limb, and bleeding profusely at least put the sound effect in the right context. Still, it was strange and inappropriately funny thinking that a bloodbath sounded like a Hardee's commercial!

The Quiet Place - Very good. Scary but not too scary. But then I get freaked out by loud wind. This was original and a nice change of pace from the normal "thrillers/scary flicks" that have come out in the past couple years. Highly recommend.

Nice and creepy but for us had more of a Scifi feel as opposed to horror.
