For at least the 15th time, I just watched The Holiday. It has it's flaws but I forgive it and love it. It made me teary eyed towards the end.

I watched "Last Holiday" and the scene where everyone is out on the window ledge and Gunta comes out to tell Queen Latifah's character she's not going to die after all always makes me smile. It's such a fun holiday film.

We watched Glass Onion this past weekend. Overall, we enjoyed it. Very twisty and fun. It was though a bit over long.

I finally saw the new Top Gun: Maverick, and absolutely loved it. I might even watch it again this weekend.
Also watched The Black Phone, which was way better than I was expecting. Perfectly creepy and tense 70's horror.

I also watched Top Gun: Maverick. So many familiar, but weird things...like his on off again girlfriend living in the same house as his love in the first movie. The canyon run reminded me of Star Wars #3. In the end after all the adrenaline rush, I decided I liked it.

Watched Ticket to Paradise on Peacock. I was surprised it was on streaming, for free yet. It still seems so new. Anyhow, I liked it OK. It was OK but not great. I guess I expected more. It was very predictable, but it was fun watching it play out. I suppose I shouldn't complain about a free movie, but I hate it when I get excited about a movie & then am somewhat disappointed. Anyhow, a decent way to spend a couple of hours at home watching a movie. Glad I didn't spend the money to watch at the theater though.

Yes, it was predictable but I enjoyed it enough that I don't regret watching it. Was it great? No, but it was pleasant. I got the bluray thru the library I work at so no cost to me.

I've been watching movies this past week. The lack of shows & new episodes at Christmas time has made Network TV unworkable for me. I watched NOPE. It was good once you get into it, but the first half does drag a lot. The second half makes up for it though. Great characters & great ending.
Next was Jurassic World Dominion - the extended version. I wish I would have chosen the un-extended version though. The darned thing was almost 3 hours. It seemed like 4 or 5. The storyline was mostly about the invasion of giant locusts. REALLY huge. They were decimating the farms & food supply. The storyline was about nothing more than the people trying to stop/control the locusts. Pretty boring. It dragged a lot. I haven't seen the Part 2 of the Jurassic World movies. Apparently, it explains why the dinosaurs are roaming freely all over the country. Darned if I know. I wasn't satisfied at all with the end of the movie. I wanted more closure than it gave me.

Yesterday Comet TV had a marathon of Godzilla movies, with a couple of other similar ones thrown in there too. I found them by accident when channel scrolling, and watched them.
I started with Godzilla, King of the Monsters staring Raymond Burr and many others. This was actually a pretty good movie. It caught my attention & kept it all through. Plus, I've always liked Raymond Burr. He gave it a bit of class. Storyline was pretty good too. One thing I noticed is that the movies started good & then with each one they slowly went downhill. WAY downhill. There were all the Godzilla vs ....., all sorts of monsters. These got pretty corny with poor effects & minimal storyline. Then came the Son Of Godzilla. This one had the worst costumes/special effects. The baby Godzilla looked like a poorly done rubber suit with a really dopey head & face. It looked like one of those cheaply done Saturday Morning kids' shows. Even the music was silly.
Then they got into the flying monsters, alien Godzilla monsters, and eventually robot Godzillas. This was when they finally bottomed out for me. I just couldn't take it anymore. Really really dumb. All in all, it did make for a kind of fun day of watching though.
They quit before they got into the more modern Godzilla movies, or at least I quit by then.

I've been in a retro Chicago type of mood, so I've watched the following recently:
- While You Were Sleeping
- Adventures in Babysitting
- The Untouchables

The Banshees of Inisherin on HBO
Very good movie but very sad at times.
The acting (of this very small cast) is wonderful.
Set in the 1920's.
To just see the beauty of this remote Island off the coast of Ireland is breathtaking!!!

I have to admit that I LOVED the fact that it did not go in the obvious direction; I was pleasantly surprised. I'll also never look at smores the same again.

I have decided to not read new release movie spoilers anymore. I will read what a new release movie is about but that is it. MOST of the time I am so glad I did not read spoilers. Ugh but THIS movie .... Eek .... all I did was watch it and think how would I possibly get OUT if I was at that restaurant.

One of the best things I watched last year. i keep getting it from the library and we never watch it! My husband is lukewarm on it. Instead he had us watch a movie on Netflix, The Pale Blue Eye. Visually, they got the time period right, the actors were great, but it was so slow.... we turned it off about half way.

Ugh but THIS movie .... Eek .... all I did was watch it and think how would I possibly get OUT if I was at that restaurant. All of those people were picked for particular reasons; some obvious, some not. Thinking about two of the people (being vague here) I think if both of us had the privilege of going to an island retreat to eat a 5 course meal from a Michelen starred chef we would most definitely KNOW what we ate! To have that level of privilege to go not just once but on several occasions and not remember anything means you weren't going for the food, you were going just to be able to say you went and I can't fault the chef for feeling some type of way about that! I'm not going to say it was right what he did... but I understand.

I had to watch The Menu after seeing these reviews. Once that dinner service got rolling...wow. That didn't go in the direction I thought it would! And now I want a cheeseburger.
