I can't watch The Notebook without bawling like a little baby at the end. We watched The Meg last night - not even looking at Jason Statham for two hours could save this one. It wasn't horrible, it just wasn't all that great.

Summer of 84, a teenager suspects his neighbouring police officer is a serial killer. He then convinces his friends to help him investigate.
I was scrolling on Amazon desperate for a movie I hadn't already seen. I noticed this one had great review so I gave it a shot and loved it. If you liked the teens and 80's vibe from Stranger Things, this movie is for you. The cast, the story, and the constant mystery kept me glued to the screen.

I guess I'm in the minority because I loathe all of those Nicholas Sparks movies. I always feel emotionally manipulated. He seems to believe it's not True Love unless someone dies tragically or gets a terminal illness.

I watched Submergence over the weekend because it was free and I live Jame McAvoy. I knew it was reviewed poorly so I wasn’t expecting much. The reviews were right, it was terrible! To summarize it, a snobby woman who thinks she’s always the smartest one in the room meets a man. He’s about to go off on a long assignment and he’s horny so he puts up with her insults to be with her for a few days. Then they depart and he’s taken prisoner while she totally screws up her job obsessing over why he doesn’t take her calls. Terrible!

It wasn't horrible, it just wasn't all that great. That is the only Nicholas Spark's movie I have seen or wanted to see. And yes, I cry at the end. For me it was the whole dementia storyline ( my mother has it) as well as James Garner! I just had to look at him and I would cry. I hated to watch him suffer. Also the character's devotion to his wife reminded me of the way my late father was with my mother.

SPARKS movies, believe it or not I have no interest in watching but I have read a ton of his books and like them!!!
I just have this weird feeling knowing that his movies have never been blockbusters, that they would never do the book justice.
So while I do love allot of his writings........naaaaaa on HIS movies.

We watched Ant-man and the Wasp. I had thought the first movie was okay but I really liked this one. It was fun and not tedious and too long.

That one is a favorite. You could (figuratively) stand in the middle of the road and sniff, taking in all the wonderful cooking odors from both sides.

Last night I watched My Dinner With Herve with Jamie Dornan and Peter Dinklage. Didn’t go in with many expectations, but was curious after seeing Jamie Dornan promoting it on Graham Norton. It turned out to be a wonderful movie that did a great job of illustrating the consequences of losing sight of the humanity of a celebrity or a person who is different from the norm.

I have recorded and not sure when I will get to it .... but saw 5 minutes of it .... Herve appeared to be a wild spoiled obnoxious individual from what I saw. A womanizer, punching people out, talking rudely to people .... WOW. Was it really enjoyable acookertv ? I am a huge PD fan, so I may still watch it. What role did JD play in the movie?

I really enjoyed it momrek06. To me, it showed how wild Herve was, but also dove into why in a way that made him sympathetic. For me, it was one of those stories I remember from the periphery that meant more by diving inside. Jamie Dornan played the reporter who interviews him ... which was a characterization of the actual reporter who had the experience and then wrote and directed the film.

Thanks acookertv I watched FI back in the day and I really loved it. Not sure if this comment is fair but from the 5 minutes I watched the other day and thinking back to FI .... seems like two totally different people. But I get it .... I only saw the TV Herve.

Saw the latest Halloween two nights ago. The best thing about it was Jamie Lee Curtis. You are supposed to watch it as though none of the sequels ever happened. Fair enough but I expected more on the 40th anniversary.

I finally got to go see The Hate U Give yesterday. I lived the book, and the movie was an excellent adaptation. It left me with the sad pit in my stomach that the story should. Incredibly well done!

Ocean's Eight - It was entertaining. Anne Hathaway played her character too well. I often wondered if she might be like that in real life. Either way it wasn't awful.
Hotel Artemis - A movie trying to hard to be like the amazing John Wick. It was filled with action so kept my attention but tried way too hard.
