For those of you that already have the service, I can't recommend more highly the new show they made available yesterday called Prop Culture. It is an 8 episode look at the collecting, storage & refurbishing of props from Disney movies. Each episode is about 1 movie with the 1st one being about Mary Poppins. It is well worth watching if for no reason other than what happens to Karen Dottrice, she was the little girl in the movie. If it doesn't bring a tear to your eye, then you are dead, deader, deadest.

I started my month subscription last night and hit "play" on Hamilton at midnight. It's kind of crummy (but not surprising, considering how they operate) that Disney did away with the free month trial right before Hamilton premiered, but $6.99 is still less than a movie ticket and, even if it does end up moving to theaters this fall, I'm not setting foot in a movie theater for a LONG time! I offered to talk my parents through adding the channel to their Roku and logging them into my account, but I doubt they'll do it. I'll probably just re-subscribe in December so they can watch it.
I figure I'll watch all of the Marvel movies in order before the month is over and maybe a few other random things. It's not something i'll keep, for sure. Right now I'm watching the first episode of Encore!, which is lots of fun and surprisingly touching.

I also watched Hamilton last night. I can see where being in the theater could sweep you up in the action. Loved the way the actor played King George III.

I too watched Hamilton yesterday. I found it to be fun and entertaining, but I am still not on board with all the hype that surrounded it for the past couple years. Miranda did a great job of telling the story with a fair degree of historical accuracy (knowing he wrote it after he read Chernow's book helped I am sure) and the cast did a wonderful job. I know the main stars were Miranda, Odom, and Diggs but I found Pippa Soo's Eliza to be wonderful and have to say Goldberry was another stand out voice for me. I simply love both Jonathan Groff and Christopher Jackson so I expected nothing less than their best in this as well.. there I was not disappointed. I did find I spent too much time obsessing over the hairline mics (never noticed this before, lol) and my biggest disappointment was at intermission there was no one outside my door selling sweet snacks and wine.

I was not familiar with the musical soundtrack and all I knew was that Lin Manuel Miranda wrote it and it won a ton of Tony awards. Even though I'm less than an hour's drive from the Broadway district I don't get to the theater very often. Theater tickets, at least for the good seats, are very pricy and Hamilton tickets were a hot commodity. Anyway, after watching it last night, I can understand why it won so many awards. Lin Manuel Miranda is just brilliant. My only quibble was that I found the very beginning very hard to follow. I was pretty confused by what was going on as the songs in rap were just so fast paced. I kept turning up the volume but that wasn't really the issue. I found as the musical continued that some cast members were easier to understand than others. I don't know if it's just a case of not enunciating enough or my ears are unaccustomed to the rapping. It didn't help that the a/c was on the entire time and the vent is right above where I sit on the sectional.
Jonathan Groff was so funny but I think my favorite was Christopher Jackson as George Washington. I'm not really a 'theater' person in that I don't know who a lot of these actors are (at least the younger generation), and I had no idea that "Chunk" on the TV show "Bull" was a musical theater actor. He was just wonderful! I'm definitely going to watch a few more times as it was pretty amazing!

I have closed caption for everything on my roku. If you don't have roku, check out captioning on the devise you have. I always have closed caption on in the warmer months because of fan noise or the AC... and I admit I get lazy and leave it on lol. I found it helpful in this instance as well to help follow any of the faster paced songs.

I love 'close captioning' and keep it on most of the time. But I've noticed that when the dialogue (of any show) is fast paced, the close captioning on the screen can't always keep up, and a lot of dialogue is missed. I can only imagine that with the super fast paced rapping in Hamilton, it would have a devil of a time trying to keep up! (Maybe in a situation like that, where the dialogue would be known in advance, they would have it pre-recorded to keep up with the show. . .)

I finally watched Hamilton yesterday. Only a month & a half later than everyone else watched it. Yes. It's still on Disney +. Apparently it's there for good. I really enjoyed it as well as the actors chosen to play the parts. They were great & fit very well. I also am not a "theater person" & am unfamiliar with most of them, but that didn't detract at all from the enjoyment. I have no idea of the names of the cast, except of course Lin Manuel Miranda. A few others looked familiar, but I couldn't remember where from. I'm also not at all a fan of rap. In fact, I downright dislike it, but it fit so well & was great. Yes people, I enjoyed rap. It took me a while to get used to the rapid fire delivery of the singing(?) but I did. This is NOT something that can be watched half heartedly. I had to sit & pay attention to every minute or I would have been totally lost. So I did. For a 2 3/4 hour show, it went by very quickly. That almost held me back from watching it when I saw that, but I'm so glad I did. Well worth the time & effort. However, 2 3/4 hours of nonstop rapping/singing & action tired me out just watching it. Now, what will I watch next on Disney+ ? I've got it, so plan to enjoy it.

Hey, if you decide to rewatch at some point, turn on closed captioning. I have it on all the time on Roku device and I don't think I would have made it very far without it.
Now...if I could have CC for real on BBLive feeds...

For those that are watching, or plan to watch The Star Wars movies, I found this list of how to watch the entire thing in Star Wars timeline order. Thought you might like to see it. I am now into the 2nd season of Rebels. Clone Wars was really good & led right into Revenge Of The Sith. The animation on these things is pretty spectacular. I skipped the LEGO shows.
The complete Star Wars saga order
Here is an all-encompassing order -- with all the movies and shows from the Star Wars saga in chronological order. The saga began in 1977, and since then, there have been new trilogies added as well as countless spinoffs in the form of live-action and animated TV shows and movies. Not all of them are great, but if you want to take in every bit of Star Wars (even the 1978 holiday special), this is the chronological order for you.
Star Wars series and limited specials are bolded below.
Episode I: The Phantom Menace (1999) Episode II: Attack of the Clones (2002) Lego Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles (2013 to 2014) Lego Star Wars: The Padawan Menace (2011) The Clone Wars (2008 to 2014) Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005) Solo (2018) Star Wars Rebels (2014 to 2018) Rogue One (2016) Star Wars: Droids (1985 to 1986) Episode IV: A New Hope Star Wars: Holiday Special (1978) Lego Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Out (2012) Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (1980) Episode VI: The Return of the Jedi (1983) Lego Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures (2016 to 2017) Lego Star Wars: Droid Tales (2015) Ewoks (1985 to 1986) The Mandalorian (2019) Star Wars: Resistance (2018 to Present) Lego Star Wars: The Resistance Rises (2016) Episode VII: The Force Awakens (2016) Episode VIII: The Last Jedi (2017) Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker (2019) Star Wars: Forces of Destiny (2017 to Present)
PS: It was also announced that all 7 Seasons of Once Upon A Time will be landing in September.

Now, what will I watch next on Disney+ ? I've got it, so plan to enjoy it. In keeping with the musical theater theme, I really loved Encore! Each episode involves a group of people going back to re-mount the production of their high school musical. There's a wide range of ages - from the 1970s up until about ten years or so ago. Some are better than others, but it's still entertaining.
I watched all of the Marvel movies, many of them multiple times - first all in chronological order and then each specific franchise (ie, all the Iron Man movies, all the Thor movies, etc.). The Star Wars franchise has been ruined, IMO and I'm not a Disney person, so what I've watched on Disney+ doesn't have much Disney in it!
Re: Hamilton....My parents are excited to see it when I visit over the holidays (they have a Roku, but just won't use it on their own), but since my dad's hearing isn't so great, we got him the soundtrack and Hamilton: The Revolution, which has all of the song lyrics. That way, he sort of knows what they're singing already. I haven't tried the CC function to watch, but I'd imagine that it would be REALLY hard to keep up with subtitles, considering how fast it is.

Mulan, the live version, is going to be available without any additional charge to all Disney Plus subscribers on December 4th. It will be available at $29.95 to subscribers on November 2nd I think. I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't want to wait a month & save the money.

I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't want to wait a month & save the money. My son WAS going to pay the fee in NOV but like you said MissScarlet now that it is available for FREE in DEC, they are waiting. PLUS now my son is wondering if their 4yo who absolutely LOVES MULAN (animated) would she love LIVE ACTION MULAN with real people. So they are DEF waiting.

As much as I looked forward to this I'm waiting. Most first run movies on Demand are like 20 dollars, which if you're a family of 4 who wants to see it is good value. Trolls charged that much and made a decent amount of money. I'm not paying the equivalent of 15 bucks a person to see this. I think Disney shot themselves in the foot trying to squeeze more money out of people, and I'm angry that they're doing it with this of all movies.

As much as I love Mulan, it has to be my fave Disney movie, I can't justify paying $30 for it (even if you get to keep it for as long as you are a subscriber). No music, no Mushu, and no Li Shang. I can wait till December.

Earlier in the week, I saw that Mulan was coming to Disney+ Friday and thought, "Oh, cool. I'll totally watch that." Then I saw the price! For $29.95, I could probably buy the DVD when it's released.
I'll be waiting until December. There's plenty to watch between now and then.
