I live in a very small New England town.We have a plethora of pizza joints. A Vietnamese restaurant just opened in town... not a fan of Asian food but it's something different so I thought I'd try. Is anyone familiar with Pho? It came with a hunk of uncooked beef....was I supposed to put that in the soup to cook?

Is anyone familiar with Pho? It came with a hunk of uncooked beef....was I supposed to put that in the soup to cook? Yes, that's how pho usually works. It's a good meal to have in the winter because it's warming and is good if you're coming down with a cold. Some pho is good, while others are only so-so, it depends on where you get it and how long they simmer the broth.

Ok, I had the RealGood Pizza today, and for some reason the cheese melted off the pizza and onto the plate when I microwaved it. I have no idea why. Other than that, it was absolutely delicious, and I'm pleased that it's high protein while being low in carbs and sugar. I had the Supreme but would like to try the other flavors as well. Definitely give it a try! I have this happen all the time when I microwave pizza. There seems to be 2 choices: cheese melted off the pizza onto the plate; or cold in the center pizza. Anyone have a solution to this? 2 options:
1) When you reheat the pizza, add more cheese to it. Add the cheese a little after you started warming the pizza to give the crust time to heat up.
2) Reheat pizza in a skillet. The heat from below will warm up the crust and you can add a lid to warm the top ingredients if they aren't heating fast enough.

I made a pumpkin roll last night and for the first time in ages, it didn't crack! I think I made three or four of them last year and they all cracked. Drove me nuts. I just had to share, it probably won't happen again.

A dear friend of mine always gets me gifts that are so thoughtful, but that slightly miss the mark. She brought me tea back from a recent trip to Vienna, but it was herbal and something I'd never drink (I did try it and it was not...wait for it....my cup of tea ). I've tried giving it to friends who are also tea drinkers and no one wants it. It did come in a pretty tin She asked how the tea was and I had to say something like "It's a lovely blend." It actually does smell nice - hibiscus, lemongrass, orange peel and rose hips. It's more like potpourri! Then she bought me a jar of local (and probably expensive) honey to use in my tea, but it came in a glass jar with a CORK. She also bought one of those little wooden dippers to use. I don't think she's ever used honey before! Even in a good plastic bottle, you can still get honey everywhere. What hope is there with a cork!? She is so dismissive of hipsters, but what's more hipster-ish than a freaking bottle with a cork!? I ended up finishing off some Trader Joe's honey that comes in the best bottle I've found - very little leakage - and washed out the bottle. I'm going to try pouring this new honey out of the jar and into the good bottle....without getting half of it on the counter And so ends my rant about being an ungrateful gift recipient

The dollars stores have them cheap.

I do, but I'm going to try doing it without. The mouth of the honey bottle is actually pretty wide and wider than the mouth of the jar the honey is in, so I think I should be okay. <------ (probably famous last words )

That recipe looks so easy and the photo of the product looks yummy. Good luck and good eating! Arielflies it is very good. The next time I make them I will mix all the ingredients together and put in the pie shell. Make it one easy step. My sausage din't rise up through the egg filling. I wondered about that before I did it but I wanted to make them like the recipe said before I tweeked it. If people don't like the ranch dressing use cream cheese or another soft cheese or whatever you like.

Went shopping for all the mixings for a black eyed pea salad for New Years! This year I decided to switch it up a bit and bought southwestern corn instead of regular corn for the salad; I like things on the spicy side. I'm trying out a new recipe this year so hopefully it's okay.

The benefit of double dipping is you get the dip all to yourself!

I made a mix of gluten free corn muffins and they are horrible! Dry, flavorless, and not the least bit sweet. What can I do with them? Bread pudding? Some kind of crust?

Anyone have any experiences with Stevia? I really need to cut down on my sugar consumption, and I'm looking for something to replace the sugar I put in my coffee.

I spoke with someone recently who loves it. Even uses it in baking.

I hate Stevia. Just like there are people for whom cilantro tastes like soap, I think Stevia tastes bitter for some people. I’m one of them.
I’d try it out on a recipe that’s less “important” before using it anything big or expensive.
Is there a health reason you don’t want to use sugar?

I don't particularly like the taste of stevia, so if I use it I use it with something else. MrCoz uses it with honey and doesn't mind the taste that way.

Yes, I'm prediabetic and trying to get my numbers down.
Maybe I should get a sample of it first? It's too expensive to try and not like.

By all means get a sample. A local restaurant may offer it in packet size like it does other sweetners...or maybe a grocery has a small box of packets.

I don’t think Starbucks has Stevia (although maybe they do - I don’t go ther much), but I’ve seen packets of it at other coffee places and even some non-chain restaurants.

Read a little first. It takes very little to get a sweet taste and a lot of people use too much. I don’t care for it.
