Albert Finney! 😢 “Put it in your pocket, Mrs. Mudge.” (Annie) I don’t know why, but that line breaks my heart every time. He was in so many great roles. I first saw him when I was in 8th grade and my mother, who always seemed so conservative when it came to sex, took me to see Tom Jones. I'll never forget that scene with the pear. LOL It seems she'd read the novel while on bed rest during a pregnancy, and it was one of her favorite books. I enjoyed the movie, and he was yummy, and he had a special place in my heart forever after. RIP Mr. Finney!

Frank Robinson, former Baltimore Oriole (my home team) and the first black manager in Major League Baseball passed away from bone cancer at 83. Also the only player in history to win the MVP in both leagues. Man he was a great one. Him & Brooks & Boog Powell, that was a special Orioles team.

Kristoff St. John, who has played Neil Winters on the Young & the Restless since 1991, has died at the age of 52. 😢 He lost his son to suicide a few years ago. No cause of death yet but they are saying it looks to be alcohol-related and may be a possible suicide. He was such an integral part of the show. May he rest in peace. I don't watch Young & the Restless, but knew who Kristoff St. John was. Last Christmas when I was watching my Christmas movie marathon, he was in one of the good ones. It was with Vivica A Fox as the lead, and was about her meeting him & them falling in love on a cruise. I think the name was A Christmas Cruise (very original, right?) I read some of the background info on him recently & feel so sorry for the tragedy he had to deal with. I guess he was never able to get past it. May he Rest In Peace.

Dave Smith passed away at the age of 78. If you are a Disney fan, you will recognize the name, if not you may say Who Dat?
Dave was hired in 1970 by Walt's brother Roy to become the 1st Disney archivist. He spent 40 years with the company gathering anything & everything he could get his hands on that related to Disney History. By the time he retired, he had a staff of 40 & they are still finding things that have survived over the years. He knew everything Disney.
"He was the unsung hero of Disney’s history who, as our first archivist, spent 40 years rescuing countless documents and artifacts from obscurity, investing endless hours restoring and preserving these priceless pieces of our legacy, and putting them in context to tell our story,” said Disney chairman-CEO Bob Iger. “Dave was a true Disney Legend, and we are indebted to him for building such an enduring, tangible connection to our past that continues to inspire our future.”
RIP Dave, say hello to Walt & Roy for us.

Some actress named Jamela Jamil has been talking trash about Karl Lagerfeld right after he died. Seems rather disrespectful.

I'm sure she's not the only one feeling a need to balance out all the adulation, but speaking ill of the recently dead is rarely a good look. P.S. Jamela plays Tahani on The Good Place.

Peter Tork is a tough one for me. Reruns of The Monkees aired all the time when I was a little kid. I loved them. My first concert was actually Mickey and Davy at Magic Mountain when I was maybe 9 years old. My bff and I also saw them in the late 80s when the guys reunited and did a tour. We had tickets for every show they did at the Greek. They headlined with bands like The Grass Roots and Gary Puckett and the Union Gap as openers. This was after MTV had started airing the show and created a whole new generation of fans.
Feels like a part of my childhood has died

Feels like a part of my childhood has died I'm feeling sad with you Critical. I never saw them live but they were happening starting when I was in about 7th grade and they were lots of 60's fun! It looks like he took on his battle with cancer in quite a courageous way and inspired those around him.

This is another tough one for me. Legendary director Stanley Donen has passed. He directed some of the most iconic movie musicals in history, including Singin' in the Rain (my all-time favorite movie), Funny Face and On the Town (the first musical ever to be shot on location - in NYC). I grew up watching his movies. I can't even remember I time when I didn't know them.

He must have been quite young when he directed those movies if he was only 94 when he died. What a career!

I loved him as Mr. Andrews on Riverdale. Unlike other teen heartthrobs who have trouble shedding that albatross, Perry developed into a fine and successful character actor. His death is such a shock to me. Aftercall, he was just a teenager on Beverly Hills 90210, wasn't he? The rebellious 16 year old with the James Dean persona. It feels like time and my youth have accelerated at break neck speed. We all grow up. We go from angry rule breaking teen Dylan Makay to wise, centered, reliable and loving parent, Mr. Andrews. Just like that. One second we are breathing, the next second we aren't. I'll never get over that. Now many of us mourn the death of Luke Perry. And we mourn the death of our youth.
