Man oh man. Christine McVie has left the building. Loved her music She was 79. Hadn't heard this news till just now. I can still hear her singing 'Songbird'. My favorite of her songs. RIP, Christine.

Kirstie Alley always seemed to be bigger than life, and so interesting. I know she'll be missed by a lot of people. RIP Miss Alley.

They are saying it was colon cancer. I keep telling my husband (who is 55), he needs to go in and get his colonoscopy but he refuses. Granted the prep is God awful but the procedure itself is nothing.

He hasn't gone in at least 20 years. I keep telling him it will catch up to him. He eats pretty healthy (because I cook healthy) but he loves snacks and on the weekends eats lots of stuff he shouldn't. He does exercise every other day for about an hour on the treadmill. At least he does that. He isn't overweight but has the usually belly most men have his age. I told him, God forbid something happens, even as mild as breaking a limb or needing stitches... .next thing you know, they are taking blood, they see you have cholesterol or they take your BP.... boom! You are seeing a doctor every 6 months and are taking meds.

I saw several posts on Facebook and read some of the comments. Not sure if it is true or not, but several posts mentioned that Scientologists do not believe in medical procedures, vaccines, etc. So maybe, Kirstie never had any colonoscopies, mammograms, pap smears, etc. Who knows!
I'm on the every three year plan because they found several at my last colonoscopy. Fun, fun!

I admit that I had wondered the same thing, but I think people are confusing Scientology with Christian Science which doesn’t use doctors. According to this link from the Scientology website, their members are encouraged to take advantage of traditional medicine. www.scientologynews.org/faq/do-scientologists-use-medical-doctors.html

Granted the prep is God awful but the procedure itself is nothing. The colonoscopy prep doesn't have to be terrible, any more. There are PILLS that you can take now, INSTEAD of that horrible liquid you used to have to drink. Ask your doctor! (If you want more info, you can Google: pills prep for colonoscopy)

I've had to postpone my colonoscopy twice due to other issues, but I WILL have it early in 2023. Even though the pills eliminate the liquid, you still have to drink a LOT of water with the pills. But ANYTHING is better than that liquid. I've tried it twice and thrown up both times.

From what I recall, though, Scientologists do not believe in psychiatry. I remember Tom Cruise going off on I believe it was Brooke Shields, about that.
Christian Science is another whole ball of wax. When I was in elementary school a student died because his parents refused medical attention for him. I remember being shocked and so sad.

I tried not to, but the body wants to do what it wants to do.

Christian Science is another whole ball of wax. When I was in elementary school a student died because his parents refused medical attention for him. I remember being shocked and so sad. I seem to remember, from listening to Leah Remini's podcast with Mike Rinder, that L. Ron Hubbard believed he could cure cancer in his body. I don't know that they're all anti medicine, but it sounds like they also believe they can cure illness by using Scientology techniques.
I always liked Kirstie, but in recent years, she'd kind of gone 'round the bend, both politically and because of Scientology. Maks Chmerkovskiy posted a tribute to her, but aside from a few testy interactions on SM, they seem to have been NC. IIRC, she cut off communication when Leah left Scientology and he continued to be friends with her (she was his bf Tony's DWTS partner). I think Maks has maintained relationships with pretty much all of his former partners and it sounded at the time like it really pained him to lose that relationship, BUT he also wasn't going to cut off Leah and Tony.
Kirstie and Maks' cha cha is still so much fun to watch. You can often tell when the pros really like their partners and it was clear that Maks had so much fun with Kirstie.

I never followed her, I didn't enjoy her on DWTS, but I liked her in cheers. I was happy Shelly Long left. I dont really care what she followed in religion or doctors, she was happy enough with her life and went out on her own terms.

This covers it a bit and offers additional links: www.yourtango.com/entertainment/scientology-allegedly-promised-kirstie-alley-she-wouldnt-get-cancerI can't help but think that after Kelly Preston's death from cancer and now Kristi's there is SOME type of butt covering going on over at Dianetics Central. I get the all types of religion can be deeply personal and I never judge one based on their beliefs but I cannot get into this whole Scientology vibe and how it is simply not some type of glorified cult that has tried to take over Hollywood. Kristi alone had been a member for most of my life, if not all, and was an T8 in the organization.. how can so many seemingly reasonable people fork over so much cash and feel that the body of a dead man will grant them immunity or better yet (or worse yet) immortality!? Kristi did say she was a hot mess when she found Scientology and they helped her on her path to sobriety in less than 30 days.. so there is that but still.. sigh..

Kelly had medical treatment, her friends and family knew about her BC, she just didn't want to tell anyone else. Some people like privacy when dealing with health matters.

I gasped when I saw the news about Twitch. I can’t imagine how devastated Allison and the kids must be. Those two always seemed so happy. Like a perfect match ☹️ I’ve always loved watching their Instagram reels of them dancing together. Far too many people in the news lately have died by suicide. ETA: This TMZ article has more information. I’m heartbroken for Allison and the kids. I can’t even imagine… www.tmz.com/2022/12/14/stephen-twitch-boss-dead-dies-dj-ellen-degeneres-so-you-think-you-can-dance/ETA2: if this marriage proposal doesn’t get you at least a little misty (I bawled my eyes out), you might be made of stone: youtu.be/8v1J81CKnD8

I couldn't believe the news when I saw it earlier - he always seemed like such a happy person. But I thought the same about Bourdain, too. You never know what someone's going through. I still remember first seeing Twitch on SYTYCD, he was an amazing talent. RIP, sir.
