I wasn't a fan of his combative talk show, but I was surprised to learn that Jerry Springer was actually an extremely educated and accomplished man. Here's the first couple of paragraphs of his Wikipedia page, and it only covers some of what he accomplished during his life. "Gerald Norman Springer (February 13, 1944 – April 27, 2023) was a British-born American broadcaster, journalist, actor, producer, lawyer, and politician. Born in London, England, during World War II to refugees escaping the Holocaust, Springer was raised in Queens, New York City. He attended Northwestern University School of Law, qualified as a lawyer, and first became actively involved in politics working for the campaign of Robert Kennedy in 1968. A Cincinnati City Council member, Springer served as the 56th Mayor of Cincinnati from 1977 to 1978. He then worked as a local news anchor in Cincinnati where he won several Regional Emmy Awards for commentary. Springer was best known for hosting the sometimes controversial tabloid talk show Jerry Springer from 1991 to 2018. He also debuted the Jerry Springer Podcast in 2015. From 2007 to 2008, he hosted America's Got Talent, and from 2019 until 2022, Springer hosted the courtroom show Judge Jerry. He was noted as a pioneer in the emergence of 'trash TV', his eponymous show was a "commercial smash and certifiable cultural phenomenon" in the 1990s." Oh no! I remember his hits from the 70s and even lately, if the songs were played on the radio, I could remember all the words. May he rest in peace.

Gordon Lightfoot has passed. He was 84. I was expecting this news. i follow a fan page of his on FB and he had recently cancelled this upcoming concerts for the year. I'm heartbroken. There wasn't a time in my life when I didn't listen to his music. Saw him twice in concert. Got my ex-husband into his music. Thank you for your music and rest in peace

Andy Rourke always pushed back against Morrisey's bigoted nonsense so I'm really sad to hear this. RIP.

Oh my GOD. Ray Stevenson? I can't believe it. That news just took the wind out of me. I was such a fan. I'd seen him in earlier projects, but the first thing I REALLY knew him from was his role as Titus Pullo on Rome. That was one of the great characters with SO many hilarious lines (none of which I can post here ) He was such a big presence on the screen. I'm sitting here crying. I just loved him and 58 is FAR too young

Such a life she had, the good and the bad. She has earned her rest now. I will miss her with my whole heart. *off to listen to some Proud Mary and Nutbush City Limits*

That was my first thought too! Tina Turner was FABULOUS! There's no other way to describe her! So talented! So strong! And so beautiful! And if any of the rumors about the abuse she withstood from her former husband (Ike Turner) are true, then, her surviving that (especially in those days long ago when there was little or no help for abused wives), then she was even greater than we knew. Rest in peace Ms. Turner.

Rest in peace Ms. Turner. and when she left Ike she did struggle. Damn, this really was a big loss. I guess with her being ill, she deserved to rest and fight no more.

Apparently she had been ill for awhile. I loved her upbeat way of life. I love her music, she was one of a kind. I was lucky to see her in concert, and the place was vibrant with her. Rip, Tina Turner.

Not Tina Turner! I'm not ready for her to go yet. She was such an example to all women on how to stand on you own 2 feet & make your own life. And stay positive while you're doing it. Not to mention her tremendous talent. She will be missed.
