She was ill for SO many years. I think because she was off living in Switzerland and out of the public eye, it was easy to just imagine her as the same as we remember her. I've been reading blind items about her for many years. I'm sad that she's passed, but I'm glad she's not suffering

I remember reading somewhere where she said the good parts of her life wasn't worth the pain she had to endure to get there and I was like :cry
I hope she had some peace in her later years in Switzerland with her husband.

The "homeopath" who convinced her to get off her BP medications for "alternative" medication should be strung up because it made her worse and triggered kidney failure. Fortunately her husband was a match and donated one of his kidneys to her, prolonging her life by many years. Her health has been relatively decent these past few years but things like that take their toll.

A friend was trying to convince me to take colloidal silver for it. I wouldn't go near that stuff but she was sure it would solve everything. There is nothing wrong with trying safe alternatives but really read up on them and trust your doctor. If you don't, go see another one.

I remember not wanting to start blood pressure meds as a young adult but the nurse told me that taking bp meds is not for now it's for what could happen 30 years later and I could have kidney failure. Fortunately at the time I had Kaiser P and my prescriptions were only $10 a month vs the $90 without insurance and at the time would have been unaffordable for me. Notice I said nurse not doctor. The nurse took the time to explain the doctor was just in and out and to be honest it took 2 or 3 visits with the nurse saying the same thing for me to agree.

I take BP meds and have for about 10 years. I'm in my late 50s and HBP runs in my family. I do watch my salt intake but sometimes it is what it is.

She & writing partner Barry Mann were contemporaries with Carole King & Gerry Goffin in The Brill Building.
Some of the song she had a part in writing are certainly familiar to everyone & include:
(Walking) In the Rain - The Ronettes (You're My) Soul And Inspiration - The Righteous Brothers Blame It On The Bossa Nova - Eydie Gorme Don't Know Much - Linda Ronstadt He's So Shy - The Pointer Sisters Here You Come Again - Dolly Parton I Just Can't Help Believing - B.J. Thomas Kicks - Paul Revere & the Raiders Only In America - Jay & the Americans Rock And Roll Lullaby - B.J. Thomas Running With The Night - Lionel Richie Somewhere Down The Road - Barry Manilow Somewhere Out There - Linda Ronstadt and James Ingram We Gotta Get Out Of This Place - The Animals
She was certainly a huge part of the soundtrack to my life! She may be gone, but she certainly won't go unheard any time soon.

The music that came out of the Brill Building during the 50’s and 60’s was pretty mind blowing. Neil Sedaka was also on staff and paired up with Howard Greenfield. I should add that Neil Diamond and Burt Bacharach were also part of the group of writers hanging out in the building during those years.

No one mentioned the passing of Astrud Gilberto. If you aren’t familiar with the name maybe you’ll remember her #5 hit single The Girl From Ipanema. She was 83.
The song was installed into the National Recording Registry and is said to be the 2nd most recorded song ever.
The song was written in a foreign language and she was the only one in the studio that spoke English so she was drafted to provide vocals. She was paid $120 and never got any royalties.
RIP Astrud. Go walking on that beach again.

I don't know how well known he was, but comedian Pat Cooper has died at the age of 93. I grew up listening to his albums, "Our Hero" and "Spaghetti Sauce and Other Delights." He opened for Sinatra in Las Vegas and for many others throughout his career. My husband and I saw one of his shows many years ago in the Poconos. Rest in peace, sir, and thanks for the laughs. ew.com/celebrity/comedian-pat-cooper-dies/

There's a reason why a lot of women are going the midwife/doula route. I know and it's totally horrifying and, I think, bordering on criminal how Black women women are treated, especially during pregnancy. The really heartbreaking part of Tori's story is that she died at home, alone.

Treat Williams has died at the age of 71 from a motorcycle accident. I've never seen him in "Everwood", but have been enjoying him the last few years as the patriarch in " Chesapeake Shores." I always liked him. 😞May he RIP. 🕊️ people.com/treat-williams-dead-at-71-7511398

Oh, no! That makes me sad. I loved him on Everwood and everything else I saw him in. I have no idea who he actually was in real life, but I really liked the mellow, calm, comforting persona he exuded on TV. He felt like someone I'd want for a dad.

I'm heartbroken I had such a crush on him in, among other projects, Heart of Dixie. Makes me want to go watch it again and cry.

When I was younger, I was obsessed with Hair (off-broadway, broadway, and movie), and I don't know how many times I watched the movie, so Treat Williams feels so familiar to me. Very sad and ugh motorcycles.

Very sad and ugh motorcycles. I had to make sure I wasn't the one posted this. I was mad for Hair! I can't tell you how many times I watched it. I had the soundtrack on cassette and wore it out. I bought the LP and eventually the CD. He was so incredibly sexy in that movie that after I saw it on the initial release, I just adored him. RIP George Berger.

I think I wrote a paper on it for school I was that obsessed. My parents saw it at the Joe Papp theater when it first opened (and took my cousin visiting from New England and were very uninformed that there would be nudity. Needless to say she thought this was the best thing ever, lol). George Berger swinging from that chandelier? Yes please. RIP George Berger, indeed.

I never saw the play, I had a couple of chances just never got the chance. I do own it in book form and have read it several times. It is quite different from the movie but I love both. I also have the Broadway soundtrack. Folding the flag means putting it to bed for the night..... I loved when he pulled Charlotte Rae up and danced with her!

I saw the musical at Shakespeare in the Park and I got to dance on stage with the actors.
YES!!! That is exactly the part of the scene that I loved. Such joy and freedom.
