He seems lovely and doesn't seem to have a clue about how the show works. I hope it stays that way. It would be nice to be able to see some genuine reactions from him and the cast...although I don't hold out as much hope on the women not knowing/watching this show and being unprepared. I look forward to seeing the cast and how they are going to work it. I hope they don't screw around with them...too much...and let us enjoy a less manipulated show. I don't want to see grandmas fighting over the dude and then someone ratting out on someone who isn't there for the right reasons...you know, because she wants to be the golden Bachelorette! I beg them...no dates where they have to get naked. Also, please no bungee jumping or roller rink dates where someone breaks a hip!!! Bets on an ambulance in the preview? |

This man does not look 71. He looks fabulous! I have a feeling the women will look as good for their age as he does! Nowadays it's so great that there are so many older people that look amazing for their age. I think this could be a really good season of The Bachelor, even for the younger crowd. |

I'm mildly annoyed that for the first Golden Bachelor, they chose a guy who looks 20 years younger than his age and show him engaging in the same sort of macho male sports as the usual male contestants, like off-roading 90mph in the dirt on an ATV or whatever that was. I'm not saying they should have chosen a guy who uses a walker, but I'm his age and don't see men who look and act like that. I'll be interested to see what the ladies look like and what sort of dates they have planned. And I hope there's none of the usual immature bickering and petty backstabbing, so I'd like to see how they're going to create drama. Hopefully it's not the same old stuff except with a cast of grandmas embarrassing themselves.

Much better than the late 50's he was rumored to be!! Oh, and he has hearing aids, I noticed. He's looking very nice! I'd apply, but I don't play pickleball. hahaha I think it was good fortune, or good idea, on their part to have a widower instead of a divorced man. I imagine having an Ex out there somewhere could get messy, depending on the other women they cast. Did anyone hear if his daughters or granddaughters will have any role on the season? (Playing a bartender, for example? ) |

Definitely doesn't look 71, but you knew they weren't going to pick some Wilfred Brimley-looking guy! Glad, like many others, that he isn't in his 50s. I was secretly hoping it was going to be Gabby Windey's grandpa. He's just darling. I guess they still have to stick with someone who's Hollywood looking - I mean Brad Pitt Hollywood and not Wilfred Brimley Hollywood Reality Steve was speaking about this sort of dismissively and predicting that one or more of the women would be a widow and that would be her storyline. Well, no sh!t Sherlock. These people are of the age where they're just as likely to have lost a spouse as they are to be divorced. That's a part of life. I don't think that would be producer manipulation to cast woman who are widows. Because he lost his wife, it will give them something to bond over. |

First thing that jumped out at me was that shiny suit. What did they dress him in, vinyl? I'll watch the beginning out of curiosity, but am expecting to be disappointed. He's attractive enough, and the age is good, what they promised. I'm waiting to see the women though. Knowing how this franchise loves to go way too young with women, I'm expecting a bunch of 40 year olds, or 50 year olds. There will be just a couple of age-appropriate ones, but will probably have that "old granny" look, deliberately to appear as unattractive as possible. Definitely NO women older than him. What the heck. It can't be any worse than what we have now. I can't believe I'm still watching this dumb show. Let's cheer for the old guy.  |

Yeah. I’ll be irritated if most of the women are 50 and younger.
My younger brother, who is 64 got divorced three years ago and has been dating age-appropriate women. There are a lot of attractive, fit women in the 55+ demographic he’s been drawing from. Maybe some of the women he’s dated will turn up on the show. Haha!
P.S. I’m hoping that most of Gerry’s women are at least 60 and at least some are his age. I have high school friends who could definitely keep up with him. It would also be nice if they weren’t all model thin. It looks like his wife was an average-sized woman.

I have read that they were seeking women who were 65 and over so we shall have to wait and see who they cast.
I have also read the show will only be an hour long and will follow DWTS on Mondays. (BIP will be on Tuesdays.) That makes me think there won't be as many women and/or be a shortened season.
BIP has finished filming so I would think they are either already filming his season or will be starting shortly.

I'm thinking one of the women will arrive in an ambulance. He seems lovely and doesn't seem to have a clue about how the show works. I hope it stays that way. I'm in this age group, and we are not on our deathbeds. To the contrary, there are a lot of men that age who are active. He plays pickle ball and golf. A lot of men in their 70-80's do the same. I'd rather see that than some old guy in a recliner with a trash can next to it and a TV tray holding his "essential" beer and cigar. This man is not my physical type, kind of, but I am eager to watch his season and maybe see two folks become an actual couple. |

I did read that they're all 65 and older, which is good news. I hope it's true. I would be annoyed if there were a bunch of 45-50 year olds. It sounds like that's not what he's interested in, but then the Bachelors all say that before a bunch of women start throwing themselves at them True to form, Reality Steve knows the final two....or, rather, he knows the F3 by first name and he knows the full names of two of them. The one he only knows by first name is one of the F2. Assuming there's only one lady with that first name, he'll be able to announce the final two this week. |

I thought I recognized her in the group photo! Matt was asked a while back about her participating and he said he had no idea if she was. I wonder if he was keeping a secret or she was.
So, not all over 65, but at least no 40-somethings or even 50-somethings!

It's nice to see so many "older" women still looking so attractive. I did notice that even though they're all between 60 & 75, an awful lot of them are exactly at the cutoff age of 60. I can't help but wonder if that many really are exactly 60, or if the show fudged their ages up a couple of years in order to keep the viewing public from complaining. Who knows? Certainly not me. I do like them choosing women 60+ & showing them as youthful & vital & attractive. So far, the show is living up to what they implied & what the viewing public wants. I give them credit for that. I'm looking forward to this one. |
