This week's episode about Rosa Parks was wonderful; I haven't cried like this since the Van Gogh episode.
Love this Doctor, love these companions and most of all, love this showrunner!

We weren't too impressed with this last episode. The spiders were creepy, the build up was good but then it went south. The ending seemed too fast and not Doctor-like imho. Again, I liked Graham the most. Yes it was similar to the Green Death but that episode had a long running Doctor, lovable companions (Brig!) and I felt was better written.
Also (and don't flame me), I feel that some of the "PC" stuff is coming on a bit forced. I don't care who people sleep with or love, but it seems I'm getting bashed over the head every episode. I get it the Doctor's now female, that's fine, but I feel that they are bending over backwards when it comes to sexuality.

I can see the PC thing...kind of like the old after-school specials (this episode is about racism, this one is about pollution being bad etc). I am enjoying the littler moments (the Doctor asking if the man was Ed Sheeran, cause everyone is talking about Ed Sheeran now). And I like the Doctor and her Tardis Team.

I'm really enjoying this season so far. I like all of the new companions and I love Jodie. I think they've done a nice job mixing up the episodes from serious pieces like "Rosa" to alien and creature stories. It's only been four episodes and the ratings have been great. I have high hopes that we'll get to really see what Jodie can do.
I'm glad that the people who proclaimed a woman's casting as the Doctor to be the END of the show are being proven wrong.
The only things I'm not really sold on are the new Tardis and the opening sequence. My favorite opening was the one for 12 with the gears that was based on a fan-made opening.
I was actually much more concerned about a new show-runner than a new lead....and I still feel that way.

So I finally got around to watching the spider episode, and I thought it was really stupid! I like all of the main actors, and they played their parts well, but they were working with a bad script based on a silly premise, and the Chris Noth character was lame (and has he always not been able to act, or was he just phoning this one in?). I've enjoyed all of the other episodes, so I hope this was just a fluke. I thought this TV Guide article about the companions was interesting. I, too, hope they will hurry and get around to letting us know more about each of the companions. And I think the article makes a good point about not skipping over the grief that Graham and Ryan are dealing with. Three Companions Might Have Been Too Many for Doctor Who

I have watched, Jodi is sweet but IMHO she isn't the Doctor. I like the companions more than the Jodi. I did enjoy the Rosa episode but a "BIG" knock-off...sigh! Soooooo...no Christmas special this year....sigh. Say what you want about Moffett but he did produce a Christmas special. These yearly shows were the only thing that made Christmas worth enduring, comicbook.com/tv-shows/2018/11/03/doctor-who-christmas-special-cancelled/

Jodi is quite talented but I'm not getting Doctor vibe from her. Is it maybe too hard trying to be Tennant? Poor writing? I'm not feeling the Doctor coming through from Jodi. Watching last night (which I thought it was a decent enough episode) I kept wondering how someone like Olivia Coleman would have been. Each Doctor had their personality, I don't find it coming through with Jodi. I know, the Doctor is still sorting it out but how long do we have to wait for her to develop a personality? I hope she does soon. I'm not going to stop watching but maybe the Doctor needs a hiatus. No Christmas special. That stinks. Some of them have been brilliant, others not so good but we did enjoy watching them.

I enjoyed last night's episode and how the "witches" turned out to be aliens.

An article about the New Years special and the possibility of Daleks, but the truly important question is "Where did the ear jewelry come from?" She hasn't worn this before has she? I do hope there's a segment about her getting some piercings. Just because I think it would be funny to see the doctor exploring that concept. screenrant.com/daleks-return-doctor-who-new-years-special/ EDITED TO ADD: The ear jewelry is in the picture halfway through the article where she's with her companions and wearing the new scarf.

It's too bad they wrapped up River Song's arc. It would have been really interesting for her to come back to find a female Doctor.
Sort of like how Star Trek: Deep Space Nine handled Jadzia Dax's character -- her Dax symbiont lived withing a series of host bodies of different sexes, and Jadzia was unexpectedly reunited with a woman who had been married to Dax's previous male host. Lots of confusing feelings all around, all while being watched by a judgmental society.

I think if they wanted to bring River Song back, they'd figure out a way. I'd love to see them try! I maintain that (much like John Barrowman) Alex Kingston has chemistry with EVERYONE, so I think it would be fun to see her with Jodie AND to see River presented with a female Doctor!
Not gonna lie, I'm sort of obsessed with the new scarf and with the jewelry.

LOL It would be fun to see River Song again, but since they are living their relationship in opposite directions, wouldn't she already know about The Doctor having been a woman if that was part of their story? (And while they are good at getting around things that seemed set in stone, when they wrapped up her story line, didn't they have a scene in which we were seeing them meet for the first time from River's perspective? That put a pretty solid pin in the idea that their history couldn't go further back in that direction.)

I've been watching the marathon -- some episodes have been run too many times, like the Titanic and most of the other Christmas specials... although I can never get enough of The Husbands of River Song.
They're showing the Capaldi/Bill season now, then some other Capaldi's, then they will start from the beginning (Eccleston) and go thru season 7 (Matt Smith's last), then a break for a darts championship (which I watch DON'T JUDGE ME), then some more random eps before they run the latest season over again, leading up to the special on NYD.

I watched that and The Runaway Bride, my other favorite.

Well this sucks! I've paid for all of the Seasons of Doctor Who on Amazon Prime, and it looks like they'll be going away in 2020 when Doctor Who and a bunch of other great shows like Friends and a lot of BBC favorites move to HBO Max. GRRR!!! All of the episodes for the next Doctor Who season will stream only on that platform, so those of us who can't or don't want to spend the money for yet another streaming service are out of luck. variety.com/2019/tv/news/doctor-who-hbo-max-streaming-rights-1203288093/ I"m glad I own a lot of the DVDs.

Pluto tv has a Doctor Who classic channel on there. I guess it's more of the older episodes.

Really looking forward to the new season! After disliking last season, I was very impressed with this season's opener. I thought it would be gimicky with you know who showing up, but it wasn't. DH and I were pleasantly surprised and I can't wait til Sunday. I still don't care for Ryan and Yaz though.

"Worst Uber ever!" I'm super annoyed that I got spoiled about the big reveal at the end of the episode. I had to wait to watch until today and saw a spoiler on FB this afternoon (was NOT looking for anything DW-related), right before I watched the episode This is why I watch DW as it airs! Stephen Fry's cameo was far too short. I love him so much.

OMG, did anyone else squeal like a little girl at the sound of John Barrowman's voice!? I recognized it immediately and knew that Captain Jack is back! Best surprise ever! JB pretty much posts his entire life on sm, so I'm amazed he kept this a secret. I'm super bummed he didn't meet the Doctor, but I'm hopeful that he'll be back.
Great twist with a second female (and black!) Doctor. I thought she was terrific.
That was an excellent episode. Looking forward to seeing the Cybermen return!

We knew right away it was him. I wish he could have met up with the Doctor! I hope it might happen at some point. I liked Ruth but I don't want her to be THE Doctor. Part of the excitement of this show is "who will be the next Doctor?". This kind of dampens it if she is. I know we got the War Doctor without ceremony, but it was the 50th, Eccelston wasn't going to do it, I gave that a pass. An alternate universe Doctor? Then how did Ruth get to this universe? I thought Ruth was acting more River like. And then there is Jenny. And as someone brought up, 11 did mention a brother. One other thing, when Ruth broke that glass and remembered who she is, I was reminded of The Master and the pocket watch. I just don't want another Doctor until we properly get another Doctor. I also think it would be interesting to have our Doctor think Ruth is her and then find out she isn't. And who is this lone cyberman? So much to ponder.
